use detergent, yes - but instead do a quick handwash, clean off the dirt then hang it out to dry. a spin/tumble in a washing machine might spoil the fabric/material of the shoe. cheers
I'd actually recommend NOT using VFF when you start building up your pads. The best use, in my opinion, for VFF is to protect your feet if you run in areas with a lot of gravel, glass, or running on really rough trails. I barefoot run in a nice suburb with pretty clean streets and sidewalks. If I lived in the city, I'd wear them.
Don't your Vibrams start to stink since you are wearing them barefoot and sweating in them all the time? I'm considering buying a pair but it seem inevitable that they would start to smell.
Good brain-food, and you're gorgeous. Vibram pronounce the company name "veeb-rum". You're gorgeous. Might've already typed that last bit. Thanks for sharing your foot-mojo.
I'd like to hear what you think about the Trek sole since it's a lot tougher. My friend bought me a pair of Trek Flow for my birthday and they actually keep my feet warm around 0 centigrade which is horribly wonderful.
And apparently I must also comment on your looks; you look good.
So I was looking into getting a pair of Vibram shoes when I found my old XC racing shoes. They have 0 cushioning, and are pretty much like the five fingered shoes w/o the toe slots. So is there a point for me to spend $100 on some new vibrams?
@invisibleshoes I'll sing their praises. The only reason I don't wear them all the time is because I'm not allowed sandals at work. Otherwise, I'm huarache-clad.
i dont understand all this swelling/pain/bone fusing you talk about. my transistion to barefoot was pretty seamless - all i got was a few blisters but they never lasted longer than a day
@powderski11 You probably already had strong supportive muscles already. People who have extremely soft or weak feet (like mine used to be) will have a longer adjustment time.

Just a quick heads up - Don't use the Vibram Five Fingers in the snow. Your toes will freeze and fall off ^_^

You stupid internet sexnerds- you can many times clearly see that she is wearing a pink/black Tanktop, that is mostly covered by her hair.

You may want to try something even MORE barefoot-ish than VFFs -- Invisible Shoes huaraches running sandals (search for it here or on Google)

They look so weird. I'd rather go barefoot. Or just wear flats.

I rub a thin layer of anti-bacterial cream between my toes before putting my KSO's on. After a month they still smell like new (give or take ;-).
