@Markko122L The speed limit rise will have no effect on driver behaviour. It is appropriate to drive at 80mph on a clear, straight road with good visibility and with a good gap in front. It's not appropriate to drive at that speed in poor conditions and driving too close. The police should spend more time on prosecuting idiots who tailgate and drive dangerously, rather than simply prosecuting speeders.
The 80mph rise would have not had any bearing on yesterday's tragedy.
Driving to close to other cars, in typical wet conditions. The lorries as you can see, can't stop in time. Hence the trying to get out of the way bu driving around while breaking in the emergency lane.
20 years later it happened again on the M5 consequences far worse. Imagine a 80 mph speed limit, carnage.
