@itpduder just fyi (if u didn't know already) the sifakas were mentioned in a book by Richard Dawkins called" the greatest show on earth" which essentially states evolution is a fact now rather than a theory due to the overwhelming scientific evidence. Those kind of viewpoints makes the bible thumpers get their knickers in a twist.
@CaptainCharismarules He mentions them on colour plate 23. It shows three photos of one. That's what made me (and many other people) look them up on you tube. I was merely pointing out that's why a lot of the comments are religious arguments. What brought you to this vid?
And they have white bodies with black faces too. I hope those evil racial groups don't see this, they may start the extermination of the sifakas. It would seem the creator does have a sense of humor after all.
They're not able to walk completely upright like humans because primates don't have locking knees which means they can't straighten their legs all the way.
I bet none of you even no why they run like that... OMG the ground looks to hot for their feet! I used to skip like that! well nobody cares they move like that because their legs are to long compared to their short arms. They cant go on all fours like most monkeys or lemurs.
Um, because their primary mode of locomotion is by VCL, and thus their bodes are physiologically adapted to jumping from branch to branch. Hopping around on the ground is the most efficient and quickest way for them to move even when they are on the ground. I have seen them move bipedally, but they are a bit awkward at it. So hopping on the ground > walking as a biped on the ground.
I think most people knew that if they searched for "Sifakas". Please, stop pretending you know better than everyone else and do something constructive.
I can't help thinking that if Disney had gotten hold of this footage, we'd be seeing it with square dance music in the background, a lot of obvious cuts and editing tricks (film going forward and back unrealistically) to make it fit the music, and the voice of Rex Allen saying things like, "Well, Simon and his friends were sure having themselves a good old time, and it wasn't long at all before a wandering brown-fur came along and asked if he could join the hoedown, too."

You don't see them destroying their own environment and themselves. They must have an advanced intellect, unlike the human race.

And I have started to work with sifakas in captivity; they move like that even when they are inside and the ground is not hot.

I can't help thinking that if Disney had gotten hold of this footage, we'd be seeing it with square dance music in the background, a lot of obvious cuts and editing tricks (film going forward and back unrealistically) to make it fit the music, and the voice of Rex Allen saying things like, "Well, Simon and his friends were sure having themselves a good old time, and it wasn't long at all before a wandering brown-fur came along and asked if he could join the hoedown, too."
kiptw 5 years ago 2
Yes, and then there would be a discussion on the lemur's love-lives and how deeply they love their mates, even under pressures from evil predators.
propithecus 5 years ago 2
And then there's the climactic scene where the lemurs all leap into the ocean as if flung by off-camera assistants...
