All the world must care for the Amazon Forest. Norway, for example, is developing a project to pay Brazilian's autoritys to preserve the Forest. All the countries, mainly the rich ones, like USA and Europeans Country, must help. There is a lot of environments in the world that NEED our help.
I'm proud of be Brazilian, and I hope that the other people understand that Amazon need a real program for developing.

If you guys want to internacionalize the Amazon, we gotta internacionalize the world. If the Amazon, from the point of view of humanist ethics, must be internationalized, the oil reserves of the world should be internationalized as well. Oil is as important to the welfare of humankind as is the Amazon for the future. In spite of that, the owners of the oil reserves feel they have the right to increase or decrease oil production and to raise or lower the price.
I don't understand why all the NGOs goes to Amazon. They say they want to help the people because they are really poor, but, we got lot of poor peoples on the Northeastern too, so why they don't go there to help those peoples?. Might be because the Northeastern don't have any rainforest to explore the animals, minerals, diamonds, trees...etc, so they aren't interest to go there.
Please the NGOs and US foreign keep out of the Amazon! You guys are not welcome!

If we start to plant some trees in our own countries by 2020 we can maybe have the 20% supply we need of oxygen! I am brazilian and live in USA but we are not allowed to plant trees wherever we want to in here. There are huge fields of grass in each condo and just a few trees planted.
In addition, once I heard that in the US teachers tell their children that the Amazon Rain Forest is not Brazilian, but a World Heritage (or maybe a North American one). As a Brazilian citizen, I completely repudiate that attitude, if the story's true. We Brazilians don't like when they refer to it as an everybody's land. I know we have a great responsibility over the world future, but did the US forget they are the most pollutter on Earth? All the weight of it is falling on BR, which is unfair.
Personally I think we humans can't destroy what we didn't create. Like our lives, that were given by God, we can't kill what doesn't belong to us, since we just borrowed. In the "end", we're gonna have to account for every life we destroyed, when we shouldn't.
The Amazon is extremely important for our planet's climate and fauna/flora stability. Although the forest doesn't belong to any1 - it's a usufruct!-, it's under Brazil sovereignty, thus Brazilian ppl are by right the 1 to decide its future

The way I understand it deforestation is the fault of the people indigenous to the region. They keep shitting out kids and they need space to accomodate the rising population. If you want to really fucking want to help the rainforest why not simply buy the land from the local government and then post guards there and tell them don't let these locals mess with the trees. If they do then take them down and feed them to the wildlife there.

How sad is that?...Counting on the corrupted government of Brazil, big foreigner companies are manipulating and also getting the royaltys of products from the amazon...After all, who's got the idea of planting soy in the forest? The USA!!! This is financed by the US and Japan! They have areas there that no one is alowed to enter... What is it? What are they doing? Burning down the Amazon and destroying the environment!!! And the brazilians will be blamed for it...as usual!

You are a fucking idiot. what use is all the money on earth if the world is turned into a barren desert incapable of supporting us? when you cut down the trees the land is only good to farm for a few years before it becomes wasteland. you are seriosly willing to wipe out hundreds of species for a handfull of dollars?

BillyHerbie Am I a "f" idiot? What a vocabulary! Look there is A LOT of trees here, every where I go I see this green bullshit and an Brazilian Army without money to buy new weapons. Amazon Rainforest is bigger than Europe, so we can destroy all that like we need and rebuild all this bullshit after that to make more money. Also, we need to increase our army to conquer Britain in this next world war. We gonna put a lot of bananas trees in Oxford. London will be a big field of Brazilian oranges!
the question said "Do we really want a world without the Amazon Rainforest?" i will say no. SAVE THE AMAZON RAINFOREST. If we have no rainforest in the world. What it will be happened? the answer is not enough oxygen, unhealthy and bad weathers. PLEASE SAVE THE AMAZON RAINFOREST AND ALL OTHERS.
This is a fantastic video highlighting the major issues we have with deforestation. If only there was a greater effort given by governments to tackle this problem quicker before its too late.
Books won't save the rain forest. We need political actions. Why can't the UN peace keeping force occupy the boundaries of the rain forest with a police operation, with a funding from all nations? Losing the rain forest will certainly mean global ecosystem disaster. It must be stopped as the climate change.
Indeed, people who destroy the forest should be in jail. And our government isn´t doing enough yet on this side, right.
But to invade a sovereign country is not a good idea. How about point a gun on the man´s head who didn´t sign the Kyoto Protocol ? Too much difficult, isn´t it ?
Not even a multi-national army? It would signal to the brazilian government, that the whole planet wants to save the forests, not just some special interest group.
That´s the point. Army forces have to obey governments. And most of the governments are ruled by economic interests of a bunch of groups. It´s sad, and wrong too. I don´t care too much about me, but I have kids.
Political actions (meetings and talks, talks and more talk) are indirect actions that take time to create real action. Like the video said in spite of immense effort for ocnservation unit implementation, the trees are continued to be cut. In my opinion, what we need is direct action as a resistance method or at least as a stalling strategy for logging.
IMO, trees all around us play a part. And people should take care of the trees that surround them and make up their immediate environment, instead of looking to solve problems so far beyond reach. Think all that talk about using a more energy effecient light bulb as a step to help global warming. A small step at a time. North americans should be looking to take care of the trees in their country.
I salute the UC berkeley tree-sitters but im greatly discouraged and disappointed by the criticism and hate that they are receving. A 125mil sports complex over an old oak grove... sigh.
Politics is the only way of making unilateral, lasting and effective actions. Don't favor reactionary activism, because it has only a demonstration value. The Amazon needs to be taken care by responsible people in power positions to really change how it is used. If that does not work, it is just because you have the wrong people there.
His forest is to beautiful to be destroyed.. Stop!!! Deforestation, that forest should be untouched by human hand. So many of animals species live in that forest... Don't you people have no feelings . Please save the forest....
I won't buy I peace of wood anymore, open your eyes brazilians check your forest from satellite images, we care about our planet! It's the only one with life!

This is a fantastic video highlighting the major issues we have with deforestation. If only there was a greater effort given by governments to tackle this problem quicker before its too late.

This beautiful video has inspired me further to completing the book i'm trying to write to help this sort of thing.
i'm honestly still crying as i type.

It would signal to the brazilian government, that the whole planet wants to save the forests, not just some special interest group.
teemuruskeepaa 4 years ago
That´s the point. Army forces have to obey governments. And most of the governments are ruled by economic interests of a bunch of groups. It´s sad, and wrong too. I don´t care too much about me, but I have kids.
principalsuspeito 4 years ago
UN is not a special interest group, rather the brazilian government is when it comes to the global heritage of the Amazon.

A 125mil sports complex over an old oak grove... sigh.
trancendinglatutudes 4 years ago
Politics is the only way of making unilateral, lasting and effective actions. Don't favor reactionary activism, because it has only a demonstration value. The Amazon needs to be taken care by responsible people in power positions to really change how it is used. If that does not work, it is just because you have the wrong people there.
