you must compare the speed with the older version. The speed which you show here could be related to your computer speed and also if you have opended the word recently then it opens up second time faster. Therefore, what you show in this video regarding the speed is not valid because of the wrong demonstration.

It is better than open office...of course...because its aimed towards usability only....but costs a price...open office is free (open source) and is aimed at both usability and being openly changeable.

First run is way slower, also MS office uses preload service that waste your CPU time even if you dont use it. Good Job.

LOADING speed is not important. Functionality and interface is. If this thing is loading on system startup. I'm not impressed. That just makes the time of windows booting even slower.

Since I really like the improvements in Excel 2007. I do have high hopes for 2010 though.

Seems to me, Office is the only thing Microsoft knows what to do right.

It is only about half a second slower on vista (depending on system specs), than on 7.

The beta expires on october the 31st I believe, and it has run great for me so far. It will take getting used to the new features though.

I wonder if it's fast because it loads in the background on startup. Outlook has been doing this for a while, if you look in task manager, you'll see Outlook.exe running even if you never clicked on the icon to start it (after you've installed the app, of course.)

hint, windows vista\7 loads most "WINDOWS" apps into speed memory, hence the increased memory usage of the os.. thats why it boots so fast, hence if you start a non windows app, like lets say a random game that requires all the total ammount of memory your computer has, it would take longer to boot than on a xp machine because it has to unload the ram whit all the windows stored stuff before it could load on the game.. just as a dramatic example... also modern technology as ssd disks helps..
