Cracking observation and pretty funny to boot. That said Sayle was one of those comics who was quite patchy overall in my view. He could be really funny sometimes and other times his gags or sketches fell flat on their face. But when he did hit the mark he did hit it dead on!
The Tories may come up with what sound like plausible ideas, and they may even come up with popular ideas, but always look behind the detail to see what their real agenda is, and research who is connected with them (Companies, private trusts, banks) to find out what the real agenda is, and who is going to benefit.
Because they are going to benefit, not you, believe me!. The Tories are only going to do things that benefit themselves via the back door!.
Thank Margaret Thatcher and her appalling economic polices that put millions of people out of work and destroyed entire communities from the closure of the mines, industry, the steelworks, and not putting anything in their place and re-training the sacked workers, but instead leaving them with nothing, to rot on the dole and degenerate, for the huge drug and alcohol problem we had in Britain at that time, and the legacy we still see today.
As a recovered heroin addict (I havent done anything since 4/26/2004, well, I smoke pot still, oh and your occasional recreational acid trip and or mushroom voyege) In any event I completely agree with his disposition...I hate people saying good job for me not wanting to kill myself anymore...
I would like to see again his sage in the pub venting his fury at Paul Daniels for so under-using his great powers or his Holmes irritated by Watson's over the top praise.
Barcelona Plates and the Dog Catcher both have some amazing stories.
The Novels:
Overtaken (my favorite)
Weeping Women Hotel (good)
Mister Roberts (OK)
He is also putting out a book this year on growing up in Liverpool called 'Stalin Ate My Homework' - he gave a public lecture at UoL on that - but he didn't really come across very well :(

So true. And the sad fact is, 99.95% of these former addicts will eventually fall back into their old habits.

As they say, you can never trust the Tories!.
