what is the best version of reason??? i have projects in reason 3. I dont know if is good to go to reason 5. What u think peoples? Thanks for attention!
I found this amazing program that rivals reason and other top brand beat making softwares for only $29.95!! im dead serious, i got it and it's amazing. check it out here
i have a Korg R3... can i connect to reason via USB to USB? i don't have a specific MIDI cable, but it seems like it should be possible with USB, it being the 21st century and all...
I have a pack of samples for sale. 15gb of samples and I'll include a copy of reason 3.0 and recycle 2.1 and a reason video tutorial cd. Email me if anyone is interested
is reason the best music tool in the world...no, but will a $5 hammer pound nails as good as a $50 one...probably. reason is a tool and if used correctly it can sound about as good as any hardware/software out there. besides some of us cant afford racks of gear/ $100's of software. that doesn't mean we can't make good music
LOL yall are right..Reson is the shit..but does anyone know why my M-audio axium 61 key midi contoller will play but not record?? Alls i have is a usb cable do i need to buy something else..?
i can recommend reason to anyone, even if you only like good tunes, it really is so easy to use, i got into it in just 10 mins, cubase is an headache but this is just lush!
if there is reason, i've been using reason since 2.5, have 3.0 and transport midi thru protools m-powered,and i dont have a problem with my own rex or live audio samples, remember its not a click and play program like fls(fruity loops), but if have a pc then go float in a pond
nah reason is the best shit i use with hardware to and the smaples tht come with it r ok but i load 24 bit so they r like them real warm samples not tht flat reason is pro shit
hey guys.. does anyone know how to create performance patches using key zones in Reason 3? say, having cymbal & bass on left side and lead violin on right? Call me stupid, but i've been looking it up and trying to get the hang of it for the past week and it's driving me nuts! A video demo would be really helpful!
reason 3.0 sucks, ive used it to death and the sounds just arent up to par with the professional stuff being put out nowadays...its good for beginners but wont get you the highest sound quality
oh not at all, the problem with reason is that it doesn't have VST compatibility. VST's are software synths that mock real hardware synths. the ones they supply are pretty bad and really give u a digital light kinda sound, rather than a fat real heavy sound that u can only get with VST's, or real hardware synths. Logic Audio Platinum, or Cubase, or Nuendo, or even Ableton are really good with that. But dont forget to invest in some good VST's and/or real hardware synths.
Hi, I have some Vst that were'nt part of the ones that were offered with reasons that make the tracks sound really good. Get at me if you want to try them out.
Only real problem reason 3 is it has no audio in and no vst compatabilty. Basically reason is a pretty good synth/sampler program but Ableton Live 6 is better. I only use reason to make loops now and then do everything else with live 6
you arent using it properly. Seriously. I know how to get sounds out of it that far exceed a lot of professional stuff
One lead should take at least 4 tracks, panned equally, with adequate use of chorus to brighten the sound, and cross feeding delay. with two EQ units and compressor. Then youre getting close. This may seem a lot of work, but int eh long run this gives oyu very high definition and control sculpting of sounds. SOmehting cubase cannot provide.
trust me ive hit the limits of reason as far as making sounds goes... and its certainly limited. if you want to hear my tracks go to myspace dot com slash bondmusic
also, just have a saw wave with the subtractor... and compare it with a saw wave from for example, the Minimonsta VST. you should hear a clear difference, if u dont... then youre deaf.
One is analogue one is digital. If you want a pure saw in Reason, one subtractor in mono won't do the job, since analogue stereo's the frequency by law of synthesis, it goe sout as many channels as defined, you set up two and pan. Pure saw wave.
Very good points 45365...I had Reason 3.0 for over 6 months and never learned how to use it. It all seemed like a diffirent language. But in reality, Reason is one of the most user friendly standalone music composition programs available. I know have Recycle and the possibilities are almost limitless...I recommend Reason to anyone that has been using programs like fruity loops for years and need to improve thier sound in a major way...
Well, it's not entirely standalone, because it does not record any audio input, nor does it reroute MIDI to external devices. However, it is great for those who want to create music in the box!
What makes Reason so bad ass is how much control you have over automations, and the use of control voltages to modulate other devices. Speaking of devices, you get as many as you can manage and write for. Reason seems complicated at first (it is at first) but when you grasp the basics it all becomes clear. Then you learn something new and your mind is blown again...I still use all my stuff from time to time, but Reason is my main workstation now.
But Reason can do all of their jobs and do them better. With the exception of wave editing...so I do that in Audition, then export to Reason. Also, Reason's effects are designed to operate like analogue stuff, so if you need to get in and really crunch the numbers or plot with nodes, you'll want to keep your directx and VSTi effects applications/plugins.
I use Reason 3.0, it is. the. shit. People who have heard my stuff have called it "Sick, just sick" "twisted" "depraved" "genius" etc. My stuff was good before, just using Audition 1.5, FL 6, some Absynth and Korg softsynths.
There are also some very good books available which explain the functions of REASON and which contain a tutorial for a demo song which uses the most important features, this is very helpfull for newbies in native production.
REASON is a good solution, not only for beginners, I think. It's more intuitive to use then for example cubase or logic. I don't know new versions of fruity loops but always regarded it more as a toy. If you use a keyboard, as you should do with cubase and so on as well, Reason 3.0 is much fun and to answer the question if you can make trance with it - yes! A friend of me uses it for making goa trance and the results are very very good!
I have Reason 3.0 atm. It's probably one of THE BEST of it's kind in the market today. However, just when I thought I had understanded it, thousands of new things opened up. It blew my mind. It can be frustrating at times, but at the end it's worth everything you've put into it.
Lets say for a beginner (like me :P) is it a good program to begin with? I'm thinking of doing Audio Engineering study, so I really want to get in touch with programs such as this.
Well, you don't want to miss it for sure. I've heard good things about fruity loops, too. It seems more straight-forward, but either of them will take a long time to learn. I suggest learning the basics and then just playing around with it, to find out what it can do.
Yup, was thinking kinda same, since you can rewire Reason into FLS 6. I saw the tutorial for basics for FLS 6, and thought it was kinda intuitive to use, but for unique sounds you must go for Reason. Also I'm gonna try Pro Tools, since the whole industry is using it :P
I have some e-books (FLS bible etc.) about those software, so it's reading time for me :P
It's not bad so long as you use it with another ReWire program like ProTools. I'm not sure if you're doing Keyboards and MIDI stuff, however, Logic has some awesome sound modules and can record Audio in multitrack form as well. Can even notate sheet music style. You can't go wrong starting with Reason, though. Just read up on ReWire before you make any purchases so you know what software best suits your individual creative music approach.

does Yamaha Psr e403 works with reason and if it does how can I program the keyboard so reason can recognize it?
I would aprecciate your help :)
akorhsel 4 years ago
if reason recognises the usb-midi driver for the PSR (it can be found on the yamaha website) you can easily use it.
then you can try the auto-detect function inside reason (edit->preferences->keyb&contr)
or "add" a new item and select "other" in the manufacturer entry and look for the midi driver in the midi-input list.

Yes, it can interface with the keyboard. I have the same keyboard. Didn't you get a cd with your keyboard for a USB connection to your computer?
