  • Gurrrl, you know you betta WERK!

  • Damn Near Broke My Neck Bopping Along To This!

  • Nikka and Prince again? Aw yeayes!

  • I saw her in L.A. during the W2A '21 Nights' Tour...she tore it up!!!! tore it up!

  • I was there.. this opening enhanced the understanding of FUNKY! It was heavy.. and Nikka, saw you at the NPG festival, besides being quite sexy, you rocked a funky show. Thx ;)

  • I am so jealous of this audience!!

  • MAMA CAN'T GET ENUF A'DIS FUNKY NAAAH-STEENESS!!!!

  • I gotta know.. Did Prince try to give you at Watchtower? :P

  • DAMN GOLLY!!!

  • and again, Nikka kicks ass.

  • Nikka Costa is the most underrated soul/funk vocalist of all time..and she gets down like NOBODY on earth right now.

  • @SPAZZOID100 one of the most underated period. One of the best singers in the world.

  • @BrenTheGorgeous

AGREED. Everybody is quickly buying into Adele-mania and overlooking Nikka who has more to offer as a vocalist and performer.

  • @SPAZZOID100 Maybe yes but Adele is nowhere near the vocalist Nikka is,regardless of genre and sales. Nikka will historicly be known as one of the best vocalists to ever exist.

  • @BrenTheGorgeous

I AGREE...I hope you didn't think I was implying that I was an Adele fan in any way.

She is a decent vocalist, but nothing to write home about. Her songs are catchy, but lack any real balls or edge the way Nikka's music does, nor can she GET DOWN anywhere near the way Nikka puts it down.

People buy into whatever is popular...it's their loss.

  • @SPAZZOID100 I agree, I do . Adele has a great voice and her delivery and music are great .But she doesn't have too much range and Nikka has alot of range. It's like comparable Britney Spears and Patti Labelle. I mean sure Britney is a more successful artist and she has sold more but Britney will never be able to sing Patti's Music. Alot of people can sing Adele, not many can sing Nikka's song's correctly.

  • best band ever

  • The soundman fell asleep at the wheel.

  • BORING!!!! Is Larry Graham ever going just stop with all of his nonsense?! There's a reason people remember Sly and don't care about Graham. One of them is a genius - the other is great bass player.

Prince - where did the cool go?

  • @Replenica

Really? I think Larry's records are better than sly's...but that's just me.

  • @SPAZZOID100 I guess perspectives are perspectives... everyone has one and it's all good! I suppose someone out there thinks that Mazarati's record is far more interesting than Prince's entire catalogue.

  • @Replenica

I don't know if that is a good analogy. Mazerati's material was solely written and arranged by Prince, and Larry Graham was his own thing entirely, and was able to stand on his own and funk the hell out of thangs, and even churn out some ballads that hit the charts.

This performance with Larry, Prince, & Nikka is anything but boring. In funk, this is known as a "vamp", and it's a darn good one at that.

  • @SPAZZOID100 Larry Graham's thing was definately its own thing but the influence that Sly had is all over the Graham Central Station thing. As far as hitting the charts is concerned, I'd imagine both you and I can agree that hitting the charts isn't necessarily the best indication of the power of music or art for that matter.

This performance by Prince, the NPG, Nikka and Larry is absolutely not my cup of tea but you obviously enjoy it. I'm happy for you. Vamps aren't limited to funk btw!

  • @Replenica

Agreed regarding hitting the charts...but "One in a million you" is a great ballad, and is considered a classic.

"Earthquake" is an amazing song, hands down.....And I also love "I feel good" & "Sooner or later" (I love synth bass and reverb)

True, Larry was influenced by sly, but who isn't influenced by somebody else? That in itself doesn't make Larry a lesser artist than sly.

As for this performance...anything Nikka is one will grab my attention these days.

  • I love Prince's musicianship but he appears to have lost his groove... he used to bring it hard. He's recorded some awesome vamps recently though - Beautiful, Love and Blessed is kinda gross! Boom on the LotusFlow3r disc is scary awesome! But he used to drop bombs all the time - he seems a bit bored.

  • BORING!!!!

  • Love this. Ohh Prince is tooooooo much. This is quality right here

  • bad ass girl !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow Nikka, you gave me goosebumps.

  • How cool is this?! Love Nikka

  • LOVE!

  • I was there! ♡

  • @photoboothgal me too. The NPG festival was just great!

  • As soon as the video ended the police and arrested everyone on stage for being TOO funky!

  • @saxykyle I actually lol'd on that one. XD

  • Jealous that you got to jam with Larry Graham. Funk on girl!
