There are a couple of things that people have to remember while watching this video:
1. This game is still in production and has not been officially released at the time this is being played.
2. This is a scrub group of people who have more than likely never played this game before. It is pretty apparent that the person that is being shown playing on screen is not used to this character giving his mouse clicking for skills and sluggish gameplay. Actually, the entire group lacks skill. Lol.

I honestly had my doubts because I am not really a big star wars fan. After I seen the Sith marauder dual wield dps class, I changed my mind. Everyone hates it when you mention wow but let's face it alot of us has been playing it for a long time. It's finally time to lay it to rest and get on with my life in the future of 2012.

They really stepped the animations up, that was my biggest complaint before and A LOT of other peoples as well but I mean, look at this now, its absolutely amazing. To me its age of conan graphics with the fluid motion of WoW. Its going to be the best MMO ever.
Star Wars > WoW anytime, day or night. No matter WHAT warcraft does...Star Wars will ALWAYS be bigger and release a game better.
This is the way I see it...the WoW players are just playing wow because they think they HAVE to. They have just been waiting for a game to fulfill ALL of their fantasy/sci fi needs
This game will be the new thing. By the looks of it, it has the running animations on, it has the gameplay, it has the explosions, I mean...cmon. It's star wars....17 planets HUGE as hell. Space combat tunnel shooters...action...beautiful environments. I can't wait!
i sure hope that all the content in the game can be experienced SOLO...I hate group stuff and miss out on the majority of MMO content because i dont use vent or w/e
i would be happy if the game can supply you with a group of AI teammates for those occasions where you cant get a group
people saying this dude is shit. hmm think about it he is playing on show room floor after being in a queue for god knows how long. jumped in at lvl 30+ if i am right with spells he has no idea about and ofc the key binds are not his setup. its a mmo not a 3rd person shooter. takes a little time to know your spells and setup your own key bind's.
@fakeliquidkid Point made. Though no season player goes to an event like PAX East. You'd have to be a slow reader and have difficulty understanding the meaning of most words and not know each spell/ability with an action bar filled with say... 24 spells... to not play like a seasoned player in this genre of gaming. This guy simply fails. 2-3 min tops on an action bar like the one I see here & game over! I'd be playing as though I had previous experience...easy.

I have not made my decision whether or not I'll actually play this game, though, if I do, after watching this and many others like it, I'm certainly reconsidering which side I choose. @carthonasi08 not necessarily... in a recent trailer it shows revan as a dungeon boss for sith players in his "final resting place" in a tomb. the individual the force ghost speaks of could just as easily be the exile. Little hints such as this individual's fall being "the end" lend credence to this theory, as the exile's existence as a wound in the force is a far more dangerous threat to the galaxy than the return of darth revan.
@MrJmaxted I say Revan because by canon Revan is a male and the Exile in canon is Female. You can even argue that the female Jedi here is the echo of the exile, telling of Revan's fate.
Yeah, I see what people are talking about. Mousing over the commands to show us is good sure, but it still leads to a lot of time with the supposed tank standing around. The Trooper was pew-pewing away constantly though.

I like the game what I've been seeing/reading about the game, but the background music is really annoying :S Hope there is an option to turn it off, but playing without background music isn't great either :S
Actually, looking at it again, that's more to do with the z axis an animations than a physics system. The animation carried the guy backward out over nothing, so the hitbox had nothing underneath it, and the z axis system says "ok it should fall now". A real physics system would have every body hitting the ground different depending on where it landed. And I saw a character die and hang off a small hill by its foot earlier in the video, so that's not in.
@sarnokh eh not 2 big a deal wow doesn't have it either and it's still does just fine putting it in over all the content and things that are already firsts for mmos is kinda pushing it

I know it wasn't you playing, uploader man, just saying it's annoying to watch footage from a keyboard turning noob who spends most of the time standing around mousing over talents and pointing the camera in the wrong direction.
If they are trying to get good reviews from PAX, then we should assume that this is at MAX graphic power... BUT, keep in mind it might still be improved. You should be confident that this is close to the final product graphic-wise.
It's seems ok, I was expecting it to be a horrible game to be honest. The mobs AI though is worse than the Korean grindfest mmos. Hope they fix it before release and actually be a good MMO, not just a voice over gimmick .
@belftankadin there trying 2 change the combat system up hopefully wen it releases it has people saying it is quite different but all mmos do exactly the same thing time and time again even in this video the combat was a little different but cause the monsters that are bigger they have greater difficulty with the collisions and the look of wen they hit ur character and wen u hit them story wise is gonna be different and fully voice over with multiplayer dialogue and decisions that change ur game
@LPaciencia now if u say that then u basically say every mmo is the same cause in retrospec they really all are full of text no real story behind every quest or mission and same combat most mmo's don't give u choices or decisions u can make that may change the quest or mission it's either u do it or u don't this game may fail but it will be different.
Atton never knew of the True Sith. LOL to all. Revan will be in game and so will Exile. Atton sorry was weak and couldn't survive 300 years. Sith wouldn't hold him prisoner because he never met them to be taking prisoner. Maybe you forgot that part. Atton stayed in republic. They came to republic 300 years later only Revan or Exile could have faced them. Well Gthang213, you be pissed if you saw Revan? SWTOR already mention Revan being Reborn in Story.

He died as a Jedi. Why would the Sith bring back the man who'd been warring on them until death? They wouldn't.

Personally, I'm not just an MMO player---I'm an RPG player, too.
Dialogue doesn't scare me one bit. I like RPG with my MMO, which is why I left WoW behind a while ago.
The thing is, I know I'll enjoy my 2nd playthrough, because I'll be a Bounty Hunter, with an entirely different class story. After that, I'll be a Smuggler, with yet another entirely different class story, and so on.
@ThamelasStormrage For one, this game was built by the best science fiction story ever written, and in that, built to answer questions about two of the best videogames ever made. People want full voice. People don't want to grind. If you look at the comments Bioware's let people in beta make, they say they don't want to just click through. They started that way, but really enjoyed the story. I mean, it's Star Wars. Galaxies, if you remember it, was a flop because of it's lack of story. Tor wins.
@wgarrett1889 Actually Galaxies flopped because they completely changed the game around the same time WoW came out. Everyone left and moved to WoW. Get your history right before opening your mouth fanboi.
And Star Wars is far from being the best science fiction story every written. Its a rip off of history and mythology with space slapped on it.
@ThamelasStormrage so u would rather have more text skipping and lvl grinding? or would u l like 2 have active decisions in an actual conversation with npc's and multplayer dialogue? u won't know till this game comes out but i'd like 2 try something different then just grind lvl cap raid for a month have all the gear and nothing left 2 do all the classes will have a very different story that collides with 1 another rather the same quest everyone do over and over again

@Pinsonati Its set about 300 years after the stuff in KOTOR so its not a sequel but there are some connections between the 2 games Im sure we'll find.

I'm really impressed by the progress the game made since the last major gameplay vid at gamescom '10. The graphics (especially the textures and the character models) look simply gorgeous, the voice acting seemed excellent, and the atmosphere of this particular flashpoint was exactly how I imagined it - epic!
I can't wait for the game, and I don't care a bit about it being WoW in space.
@MrGabblit, not my gameplay. I don't normally toot my own horn, but I am a pretty good MMO player and I can't record my own gameplay here at PAX, the setup here will not allow me, so I record others playing.

@JosephHandibode Dude, in the Dark Side ending of KOTOR 2, kreia talks about how atton will become like Nihlus, and the jedi here talks about pretty much the same thing happening to the prisoner if he fails. So it pretty much screams Atton.
@wgarrett1889 There is no darkside ending in the Cannon of Kotor 2, which is what bioware is following. The cannon was the lightside ending. which is the exile destroys Malicor V and Atton stays with Mical to start the new Jedi order. Atton never leaves to go to the unknown regions. Revan is the only one who fits this description. Plus Revan has already been said to make an appearance one way or another in TOR
You never played KOTOR 2 than. Because game goes by lightside ending yo. Exile leaves to unknown regions while Atton Stays in Republic. LOL on Kreia. She told people what she wanted them to hear. KOTOR 2 will not play any part in TOR other than Exile. Atton wasn't powerful to survive 300 years yet you say he is better than Revan when Both games show otherwise. Anakin was supposed to be chosen one look what happen.
God a video like this makes me feel like all the hype for SWTOR is just going to waste. If your going to submit a gameplay video, make sure the guy playing isnt a retard. Ive seen the beta and mele combat is NOT THIS SLOW. Its MUCH more fast paced and why the hell is he not using hotkeys? If you notice he is just clicking everything and he is like nowhere near the fight alot of the time.
@Twibles The only reason that this combat looks like wow is that no offense, but the player is not very good. he isn't even using hotkeys, he's clicking on buttoms to use abilities, however this is understandable, as this is this persons first time playing the game
The thing is that no matter if you press the skills with keys, a mouse, an Ipad, or telepathic signals, you're still using them in the same way that many MMO's have done them. The combat has a much more unique visual style, and shooting projectiles while moving is cool, but it's not drastically different. This's ok. I know that many people like this style of combat and just want to use it in a different setting than generic high fantasy
@MicksterZone the point is the combat will be more fluid and you'll be able 2 do moves like u see in the movies collisions will be more interactive lightsaber duels won't be just u swing i swing type combat where there is only 1 set of actual animation going on which we see in alot of mmo's which may turn out 2 be a little stepping stone but at least its a step rather than doing the same exact thing over and over in all mmos
Finally a good clicker player! Makes the combat look better when there is an mmo player behind the keyboard... Would still love to see less clicking, seeing as how it speeds mobility up, but best gameplay vid yet!

Actually, looking at it again, that's more to do with the z axis an animations than a physics system. The animation carried the guy backward out over nothing, so the hitbox had nothing underneath it, and the z axis system says "ok it should fall now". A real physics system would have every body hitting the ground different depending on where it landed. And I saw a character die and hang off a small hill by its foot earlier in the video, so that's not in.

If they are trying to get good reviews from PAX, then we should assume that this is at MAX graphic power... BUT, keep in mind it might still be improved. You should be confident that this is close to the final product graphic-wise.

It's seems ok, I was expecting it to be a horrible game to be honest. The mobs AI though is worse than the Korean grindfest mmos. Hope they fix it before release and actually be a good MMO, not just a voice over gimmick .

@belftankadin there trying 2 change the combat system up hopefully wen it releases it has people saying it is quite different but all mmos do exactly the same thing time and time again even in this video the combat was a little different but cause the monsters that are bigger they have greater difficulty with the collisions and the look of wen they hit ur character and wen u hit them story wise is gonna be different and fully voice over with multiplayer dialogue and decisions that change ur game

Atton never knew of the True Sith. LOL to all. Revan will be in game and so will Exile. Atton sorry was weak and couldn't survive 300 years. Sith wouldn't hold him prisoner because he never met them to be taking prisoner. Maybe you forgot that part. Atton stayed in republic. They came to republic 300 years later only Revan or Exile could have faced them. Well Gthang213, you be pissed if you saw Revan? SWTOR already mention Revan being Reborn in Story.

He died as a Jedi. Why would the Sith bring back the man who'd been warring on them until death? They wouldn't.

Personally, I'm not just an MMO player---I'm an RPG player, too.
Dialogue doesn't scare me one bit. I like RPG with my MMO, which is why I left WoW behind a while ago.
The thing is, I know I'll enjoy my 2nd playthrough, because I'll be a Bounty Hunter, with an entirely different class story. After that, I'll be a Smuggler, with yet another entirely different class story, and so on.

@ThamelasStormrage For one, this game was built by the best science fiction story ever written, and in that, built to answer questions about two of the best videogames ever made. People want full voice. People don't want to grind. If you look at the comments Bioware's let people in beta make, they say they don't want to just click through. They started that way, but really enjoyed the story. I mean, it's Star Wars. Galaxies, if you remember it, was a flop because of it's lack of story. Tor wins.

And Star Wars is far from being the best science fiction story every written. Its a rip off of history and mythology with space slapped on it.

@ThamelasStormrage so u would rather have more text skipping and lvl grinding? or would u l like 2 have active decisions in an actual conversation with npc's and multplayer dialogue? u won't know till this game comes out but i'd like 2 try something different then just grind lvl cap raid for a month have all the gear and nothing left 2 do all the classes will have a very different story that collides with 1 another rather the same quest everyone do over and over again

Thanks a lot for the great footage, I really enjoyed it, though you played your character a little clumsily :P
I'm really impressed by the progress the game made since the last major gameplay vid at gamescom '10. The graphics (especially the textures and the character models) look simply gorgeous, the voice acting seemed excellent, and the atmosphere of this particular flashpoint was exactly how I imagined it - epic!
I can't wait for the game, and I don't care a bit about it being WoW in space.

@MrGabblit it really isn't cause wow doesn't do a multiplayer dialogue or combat engine, with these bigger monsters they don't show the collisions as well as a humanoid type npc or character would but they also let u have choices that might change ur mission/quest which no mmo really does have its just u either do the quest or u don't and a fully voice over game makes this no wow imitation

@JosephHandibode Dude, in the Dark Side ending of KOTOR 2, kreia talks about how atton will become like Nihlus, and the jedi here talks about pretty much the same thing happening to the prisoner if he fails. So it pretty much screams Atton.

@wgarrett1889 There is no darkside ending in the Cannon of Kotor 2, which is what bioware is following. The cannon was the lightside ending. which is the exile destroys Malicor V and Atton stays with Mical to start the new Jedi order. Atton never leaves to go to the unknown regions. Revan is the only one who fits this description. Plus Revan has already been said to make an appearance one way or another in TOR

You never played KOTOR 2 than. Because game goes by lightside ending yo. Exile leaves to unknown regions while Atton Stays in Republic. LOL on Kreia. She told people what she wanted them to hear. KOTOR 2 will not play any part in TOR other than Exile. Atton wasn't powerful to survive 300 years yet you say he is better than Revan when Both games show otherwise. Anakin was supposed to be chosen one look what happen.

God a video like this makes me feel like all the hype for SWTOR is just going to waste. If your going to submit a gameplay video, make sure the guy playing isnt a retard. Ive seen the beta and mele combat is NOT THIS SLOW. Its MUCH more fast paced and why the hell is he not using hotkeys? If you notice he is just clicking everything and he is like nowhere near the fight alot of the time.

@Twibles The only reason that this combat looks like wow is that no offense, but the player is not very good. he isn't even using hotkeys, he's clicking on buttoms to use abilities, however this is understandable, as this is this persons first time playing the game

The thing is that no matter if you press the skills with keys, a mouse, an Ipad, or telepathic signals, you're still using them in the same way that many MMO's have done them. The combat has a much more unique visual style, and shooting projectiles while moving is cool, but it's not drastically different. This's ok. I know that many people like this style of combat and just want to use it in a different setting than generic high fantasy
But don't pretend it's something it's not.

@MicksterZone the point is the combat will be more fluid and you'll be able 2 do moves like u see in the movies collisions will be more interactive lightsaber duels won't be just u swing i swing type combat where there is only 1 set of actual animation going on which we see in alot of mmo's which may turn out 2 be a little stepping stone but at least its a step rather than doing the same exact thing over and over in all mmos
