The obvious problem with the Free Keene thing is their inability to accept their own personal selfishness. I can't get past the idea that these people are aimless wandering wannabes. How is it possible to get a "group" to coalesce around "personal" selfishness? Certainly not by regurgitating childish "I want" rants. Obviously the "I want" part will be supplied by, you guessed it, someone else.
@sheltercrow you confuse selfishness with self-interest. They just "want" to have their rights respected. Rights do NOT come from government- the Bill of Rights is written as the state's acceptance of the rights which NATURALLY belong to individual men. They don't ask for rights to be handed to them- they just want the rights they deserve to be respected. They are willing to face arrest to achieve equal rights recognition for EVERY citizen - how is that selfish?
Socialist views? Socialism as dreamed and written in the Communist Manifesto by Karl Mark? Communism / Socialism is about total control of the individual by the almighty state! I don't think this kid has a clue on what he is talking about.
We need freedom and less Government control and not more!
@stephenabm how about the socialist government of france and other european countries? Modern versions of socialism are far different from what that century old manifesto says.
@xbringyourboardx Socialism has failed all over the world, so not interested in any of it, The best form of government was created in early Greece by Solon (philosopher and legislator) - a Constitutional Republic. It was utilized by the Roman's prior to the Caesars and then by our founders in creating the US. We have the best form of government ever created, problem is that we have allowed corporatism and socialism to invade our government. We need to return to less government and not more!
At 6:35, the issue isn't necessarily "school outreach"; the issue is the *way* they're presenting it. Yelling at kids to drop out of school isn't going to resolve the problem at hand, especially when the only existing alternatives to "state education camps" are private school (which not everyone can afford) or homeschool (which not everyone has the resources to do). Why not build some free, participartory-run schools instead?
The guy who says feeding the homeless is a short-term solution is 100% correct. Charity is a top-down vertical act which humiliates those who receive it. Solidarity, on the other hand, and reforming the system to make conditions better for all is horizontal and helps all those involved.
The laws against taking care of the homeless are the result of the capitalist system, where compassion is put in the backseat before profit. The homeless and poor only exist because of the hierarchal capitalist system (and please spare me the "that's not capitalism!!!" bullshit). There weren't always rich and poor people. Human beings lived on lands held in common without concepts of wealth or money for centuries.
@juliaisafilmbuff123 There are obviously many factors influencing why a person becomes homeless and I'm sure they've had a hard life if they are in that situation, however, they are still capable of providing for themselves. What would happen if a human was born into a community without concepts of wealth but did not work or help the community? There would be consequences, as there are today.
Liberty means freedom - free means exempt from authority, rule or control.....why the hell isnt everybody a freedom activist ? - Everybody wants to be free so why is it just liberty activists that are doing anything about it ! - It seems even that people are trying to prevent their own freedom and they have the insane neck to try and attach a stigma to you - its simply the sane that want to be free vs. the insane that do not
"Education" means - to rear (as in cattle); Train (as in keep on track); Public Education is literally a system of social conditioning and has nothing to do with learning,...it is repetitive reactive programming, nothing else. When we learn the definition of words rather than diction of terms. Provide information centers, art, science, history, etc, and allow children freedom to learn and discover their destiny naturally. Go to- The Venus Project dot com and learn about Resource Based Economy
The first impression I got was you that you are a bunch of Middle Class bad educated young people. If Lew Rockwell would not have spoken in your radio station last week, I never would have taken you serious at all. After listening to freetalklive quite a bit, I now have a much better idea of what you stand for AND quite like it!
First impression was childish, foolish and some sort of arrogant though!
These are college students that have no idea that the purpose for the field of journalism is to be a watchdog for the people regarding government events and legalities especially when contrary to the governments actual actions. They are referring to Hollywood press. They have no idea what the difference is or think news reports should be more like insider edition. Anger is a real feeling and its specific purpose is change. People by nature don't like change so motivation stems from angry shock.
Kudos to you for posting this vid which gives ample time to opposing and critical viewpoints. Discussion and debate can be a wonderful thing if people are truly engaged in the conversation, listen to and truly absorb and consider the points being raised by the other parties. We should all constantly question and test our beliefs and should not be afraid to change them if something comes along that makes more sense to us.
You can tell you are dealing with morons when they can only say the words "positive" and "negative." Clearly Sam forgot to ask them to define their glittering generalities......that would have made the video much more interesting. Remember to play by the rules of the rigged game. What idiots! Or should I just say "Political whores"??
@MoneyIsSilver It's not about the truth of the statement. The liberals are saying that by saying it they are making kids believe it and that is negative. They would like the statement "Try Homeschool and Be Cool" to motivate listeners. There's always one or two kids who love school in every class but the website wanted the other 30 kids who do hate school (with good reason) and are looking for more. Every writer knows if your reader is turned off by the title they won't read further.
@jimprjayp Not sure what you mean. You said, "The liberals are saying that by saying it they are making kids believe it and that is negative." Key words there are "making the kids believe it" - mission accomplished then.
When I was a teen I despised school. I would have been more than thrilled to hear someone in their thirties say, "yeah, school DOES suck".
@MoneyIsSilver Agreed. However the "positive" liberal college students were claiming that if the website had been more positive in their statement about school they could have had just as good a turnout and been upbuilding instead of negative. Hidden message: public schools may need reform but to quit them altogether means Kari in the projects won't get an education.
Truth: Kari isn't getting an education now. And if u can truly educate others, they will help Kari get an education.
@CurtHowland Are you kidding me? Who is robbed in the school scenario? The teachers? If they aren't doing a good job then they should lose their job, period. Why should the students pay with their education for a teacher who should be doing something else to make a living?
Change isn't brought about by friendships, ask a lawyer. Change occurs in a heated state of energy because to have conflict takes that amount of forward momentum. Once your moving you can afford to be positive.
@CurtHowland Okay, now I understand what you meant but then what is the solution to making sure all the people can read and write, even or especially the poor?
Why do liberals overlook the fact that charitable giving is hugely slanted toward the conservative right? Liberals believe tax dollars are charity, they are not. Public school in the US is an excellent example of why not. The statistics comparing even charter schools v. pub. schools is clear data to expose this falsehood.
@jimprjayp "what is the solution to making sure all the people can read and write"
Prior to public schools, the literacy rate was 95%+. Even public school GRADUATES don' t have that.
As for the poor, reading/writing/math is not expensive to teach. It's the crap that's expensive, and gets in the way of learning the basics. That's why homeschooling works so very well.
Imagine the money left over for education without property taxes!
Who is to say what is positive and what is negative? Are the members of the Free-Keene Stigma group the arbiters of this? You may think determining positive and negative activism is common sense, but they think the drinking game is negative. What is negative about drinking water from a brown glass bottle?
What's not positive about drinking? I'm sick of the stigma drinking gets. It's not like they got piss drunk at the meeting. Besides, if they want to have their boring little meetings they can do it on their dime, not mine. Then they wouldn't have to worry about the public "disrupting" their stuffed shirt meetings.
But they were "impaired." That's what I imagine Fred saying. Doesn't really matter if they presented a threat to anyone. Drinking alcohol raises the likelihood of violence on "average", but averages aren't worth shit most of the time. Averages do not show cause and effect relationships, but they are useful for manipulating people who don't know any better. People have a negative perception of drinking, because statistics are used in this manner.
How many protests work? Very few. Some times you got to breaks some eggs, flowers and baby talk falls on deaf ears. They've tried it for decades, ad it never changes. The young have yet to learn this, unfortunately it will take time and the cycle begins again.
The obvious problem with the Free Keene thing is their inability to accept their own personal selfishness. I can't get past the idea that these people are aimless wandering wannabes.
