@GODSVOTE -- Assuming your franchise theory is correct, then, if Trump leased his name for a period of time for a fee or royalty, then legally he is bound by law to the operations of his franchise, including leases even if he doesn't run them directly. For example, if a McDonalds franchisee is sued in New York, the mother company is also dragged in.
@politicalarticles the reason they list both parties in a lawsrent suit , is if the parent company instructed the franchisee to do something illegal or known the franchisee was doing something but let it go on then the plantiff could recover losses from both, but in this situation most lwas licensing agreements state you can use the name for x but you may not use it for y. Thats why when the board wasnt doing their job as agreed then he wanted to pull his name off which led to their bankruptcy
