seeing the image of the students in the background, made me realize again of what this country is all about. Equality, no matter who you are... white,black,arab,mexican,canadian. @birmacki actually UofM doesn't have the most expensive in-state tuition in the nation. However, I'll give you that out of state tuition was the most expensive for public institutions for the 2010-2011 academic year.
People have good and bad things to say about him, his administration and his performance as president. If you think your solutions to the problems facing America are the best, viable AND proven, then run for president, see if you would last even for a day. You can't simply blame one man for having failed-- so much is going on, decisionmaking is not easy-- there are different parties. Always. And you can't please everyone all at the same time.
Though I am admittedly disappointed with the way some things have turned out during his presidency, as an international student graduating this spring, I am truly honored to have the President of United States come to my school and speak. Thank you President Obama.

All these things reduce student debt. That's his plan. :)

By creating an incentive to keep tuition low, and then reward them with taxpayers money, how is that going to solve the debt problem? Instead of the student having the debt on them, the taxpayer bears the burden? So the kid that didn't get a chance to go to college has to work and pay taxes, so that a kid that can go to college has an easier time paying for it?
@benzaintarental I think you're missing something here. Taxpayer's are already paying colleges. That's where the federal aid comes from already. This plan is to potentially take that away if colleges can't budget themselves better and reduce tuition. See what I'm saying? So, the money that tax payers are already paying in the first place, is going to be used differently (as encouragement). This directly impacts taxpayers paying for their kids schooling. Lower tuition = lower debt.
I don't know what side of the argument you are on , but your wrong. You clearly don't know economics. Taking debt from students and them passing it to people that couldn't afford to goto school is Criminal. The whole reason schools are so expensive is BECAUSE the Government is involved in them and have gauranteed money.
