  • I hate the south, I hate rednecks, I hate everything "country" and I hate that racist fucking flag. But god damn I love me some Lynyrd Skynyrd! Great song!

  • Funny thing, this was one of their biggest but I'm pretty sure the whole group was out of Florida. And then came the plane crash in October of 1977. They had leased a piece of shit Convair 240 (a near 40 year old twin engine plane that once flew as an intermediate commercial airliner) with a piece of shit crew. Lead singer Ronnie Van Zant & Steve Gaines were the biggest names lost when the crew ran the freakin' plane out of gas over Gillsburg, Mississippi.

  • ATTENTION ALL BLACK PEOPLE IF YOU ARE EVER DRINKING WITH WHITE PEOPLE AND YOU HEAR THIS SONG YOU NEED TO LEAVE BECAUSE YOUR BLACK ASS IS ABOUT TO GET HUNG

  • I love it, mehr geht nicht!!!

  • Southern stompin' mushmouth redneck drawl. Sometimes, there ain't nothin' like it.

  • Godamn Gary is ALL OVER this one.! Damn right on

  • there's no Kid Rock!

  • Cuz today like tv says: talent it is a latex, pop, techno and ass on scene.

  • He's wearing the smartest, Southern gambler's hat I've ever seen.

  • can somebody tell me what that thing on the piano is and what it does?

  • @andygjata

it's a pianist and it plays the piano o_O

  • @bigalex52

i was talkin about a white little box on top of the piano , in which the pianist just before the solo pressed a button, smartass

  • @bigalex52

    brilliant!!

  • yes,yes,hoo yes...

  • Awesome song!!! Im not even from the south, But I always loved this tune.

    No honkettes on this one?!?

  • Gyááhee!

    Rokker Zsolti :)

  • I just cannot understand what happened to music, am I the only one who is absolutely flabbergasted at what is going on now?

The music industry is now run by cloth-eared morons who are more interested in a quick dollar?pound than any ly related to music, thank the stars for people like Lynyrd and their kind to show us where it should go, and it will when we ALL wake up.

  • If you find it, it will rock !

Theres still stuff out there. You just gotta listen/look

  • southern rock should make a comeback

  • Can remmeber sitting at home and watching this on BEEB 2 OGWT....bloody hell

  • one of the best songs ever. when i listen to it i think of all the happy times in my life.its a shame that he died.wonder what other great songs he would have sung.

  • haha checked your profile, and the first thing i see is Franz Ferdinand song favorited? That just means that you are so GAY!

  • hey

    people have different tastes

so lay off of the accusations

  • you such a dick its one of the most better band of southern rock in the world

  • wtf? lol then why would you type in a search for this band and song and spend time writting how you hate them? god, some people just dont take the advice "get a life"

  • yeah man your right

  • sweet home alambama

  • awsome

  • As whispering Bob Harris would say, Nice!

I love how Ronnie used to prowl around the stage, and you could tell he loved hearing his band playing. Great stuff.

  • i consider myself wiling to listen to all kinds of music from old school to new school...but it inevitably always goes back to the 60' and 70'. And this Southern Rock band proves it. In fact, they are saying, "join us and enjoy"

  • Not a bad version of S H A I would buy it if it was on album

  • It's weird how Allen either missed the first solo or skipped over it.

  • it´s real music

  • billy never left the band

  • allen collens, gary rossington, ronnie vanzant, leon wilkeson, artimus pyle, and billy powell are the ones playing in this one.this was right after ed king left and right before steve gaines joined.ronnie, allen, and gary were the ones who never left the band

  • Now a days there are 4 Mtvs but the music they play is absolutely crap. There arent any more songs like these ones being played on TV.

  • Because most bands today with young pretty boys don't have years of playing experience under their belts before they get big. Most bands before MTV hit were all seasoned pros. Now it's more about image and record copanies today don't have a clue of what real talent is.

  • They do that only because they care only for their own asses, otherwise they get one Ferrari per month less.

  • @lasange the really sad thing is there is plenty of young talent still out there taking a back seat to the so called "pretty boys".

  • @TheIn2Nation agreed, but I think these guys look way more cool than any pretty boy out there, these guys look like men, not little boys like most bands today.

  • @webabhi i guess you dont watch vh1classic rock channel then? its ALWAYS on... this kinda music

  • gh wt

  • no Ed King did not do all the guitar parts on this..in fact, if you actually LOOK at what you are posting about..Ed King is not even THERE!

And Allen Collins, Gary Rossington and Ronnie Van Zant wrote the song.

  • ed king co-wrote this song..

  • this is around the point when ed king left and steve gaines joined the band

  • ed king did all the guitar parts on this..

  • Lovely hair - love his voice. Awesome song

  • Whats up with the sound on this video? Its fine at the beginning when he is talking but when the music starts it get muffled. And Ronnie looks so little in this video! And Steve, I agree with you. The addition of the Honkettes and Steve Gaines put Skynyrd in thier best form but Allen and Gary still kicked ass!!

  • verdis, I am not a racist. There is nothing wrong with flying the rebel flag anyway and you can't say those who do are racist. The rebel wasn't even originally associated with racism, prejudice or anything like, if you studied your history correctly. The stars and bars represented one particular southern flag that centered over the issue of states rights versus federal rights. Skynrd has the constitutional right to fly their flag anyway regardless of what anybody says in this country.

  • You what sucks about our society today is that kick ass bands like skynrd can't fly big ole rebel flags on national tv today anymore without all the godam liberal mother fuckers raising shit about it and screaming racism or the band being prejudice. talk about bullshit. If everyone else can fly their political flags or what have you, then skynrd can fly their's high and proud. Fuck the liberal media and everyone associated with them!! They can go to hell!!!!

  • A racist shows intolerance... et tu Verdis?

Black is black, white is white and nothing in between.. must be sad in your little world.

  • I'm far from racist and my "world" is fine..

  • love lynyrd skynyrd!!!!

allen collins should never use fender.

  • long live skynyrd

  • nice flag

  • amazing!

  • yeah and what really sucks is if the pilot hadn't dumped the fuel while he was trying to transfer it to his one good engine they could have more than likely landed safely with one engine, that shit makes me mad as hell everytime I think about it, I just don't see how a pilot thats worth a shit makes that kind of mistake!

  • You can see the void the band has without the addition of Steve Gaines and the Honkettes.

It's a shame that Lynyrd Skynyrd's time in the spotlight had to be cut short because of a bad decision to fly a plane that clearly was having problems with it's engine.

They were going to turn the plane in after the flight to Baton Rouge for a concert.

And you know the rest of the story...They never made it.

Long Live the Music of Lynyrd Skynyrd!
