  • You're awesome

  • Thank you for this. Just beautiful. I couldnt figure out the harmony myself.

  • I never realized how hard it is to sing with harmony until I tried singing along with this. :$

  • Hi, are you singing the Paul' s part ??

  • is that a tacoma pk30 model?

  • You Go Man......love the harmony and no-capo. Gives good base and flatter notes to your sharper voice singing. ...Great job.

  • what is the picking pattern?!?!?!?

  • Awesome man and way to rep those Mariners! They need all the love they can get. Keep on playing!

  • Singing is a little of key at times but your playing is stellar. Good job!

  • Very Nice. No big ego, just a little help to aspiring guitarists. Thanks!

  • I love your style! thanks to your other video I learned how to play "April come she will" and now Im hoping to learn this one. Thank you so much again!

  • i love how these guys think they know more about music than you do...then they make themselves sound like idiots on the internet :) you rock mtreed55!

  • are u recordinfg in the bathroom?

  • Great job! Ignore the detractors, and rave on, man! Beautiful Tacoma, by the way. have a JM16 myself; maple is a bit too bright for my tastes, but you do it justice here. Thanks for the posting; I'm gonna copy a couple of your licks, if you don't mind.

  • The best guitar picking of this song I've seen until now.

  • lovely

  • Is simon's part the same notes only lower? or are they singing in completely different pitches? S&G's harmonies drive me crazy sometimes because they are sooooo close... this kind of adds to my confusion... as soon as i play this i then can't seem to find the melody...

  • wow this is amazing

    fantastic job!

  • that's a nice tacoma there, i have one like that...

how much did you buy that tacoma for?

  • This video is fantastic! I wish there were more harmony versions of songs out there. You couldn't be convinced to do a few more could you?

  • that is top shelf very good job

  • Sweet mate !!!!

  • Thanks so much!

  • Hi, you play it almost perfectly, where did you find the tabs?

  • Few there be that get the finger picking pattern correct on this tune, but you got it!

    Congrats!

  • 12 people have marked it down!?! and a lot of people have left negative comments!?! What the fuck is wrong with you people. Even if its not in the right key or exactly correct...WHATEVER. It's still a lot of fun to sing along to. If you don't like it then fuck off and spread your negativity somewhere else you losers.

  • Hey, it was nice singing with you!

  • Great video!!! I just can't help singing along in the standard voice, with you laying the harmony. It sounds awsome!!! And nice playing too.

  • Very nice!

  • You went where most people won't dare go, and you did it so damn well. I too enjoyed singing the melody line along with you. It was awesome. Thanks.

  • A pleasure to sing with you!!

  • Thank you for teaching me the harmonies.

    John.

  • this is os beautiful, a pity that you tuned down your guitar, because it gets more dificult to practice the picking with you..... id like so much to learn the guitar. Anyone knows a good tab?

  • @guitimad get a digital chromatic tuner mate, takes seconds to retune

  • Nice rendition of one of my fav S&G songs!

  • And agreat voice either!

  • I saw about a dozen videos of people palying THE BOXER in the last half hour, but what amazed me the most about yours is the little effort and the great resemblence to the original. Even more, you're not using a vintage or gibson or other fancy guitar or other things, but a aparently very simple instrumet. Congratulations. Hey, check my video! All night long by lionel ritchie...

  • amazing!

  • Great man! Now I can sing it in harmony by myself with you accompanying me :) Beautiful!

  • Great stuff man 5*

I wish you can show us the finger picking of this tune. thanks

btw, I was singing along with you an octave lower.

    fantastic ;)

  • dont say o my god bigbear its against the 2nd comandment

  • I just did an another harmony aside from the original....

    It's cool...

    nice plucking too!

    what such fluency! :)

  • Thanks so much for this!! I love to sing this song so much!!

  • Could you do a tutorial on the intro please? I think its the best version out there !! Great playing. Cheers

  • fantastic

  • GRaet......

  • Fantastic! So much fun to sing along with!! Thanks!

  • Oh my GOD!!!! I didn't realize what you were doing until I started singing along. Man, I wish God gave me your ear for harmony. Scary.. a total gift. You honor us.

    Thanks for being here.

  • This is beautiful. It is just like lullaby for little baby. Baby would sleep very soundly to this. Actually, adult would too.

I am sorry for my bad English.

  • Beautiful job guy, I really enjoyed singing along. Very nice Garfunkel.

  • The harmony was fine, guys. Geez. it is difficult as heck to do that without accompaniment.

    Good job mtreed

  • he's doin d second voice of d song..try to sing it you'll blend with him.

  • sometimes u were too high.. that's not good for the harmony but guitar playing is good

  • Nice sound, what is it for guitar?

  • great job!

  • bravo....i love it............

  • I disagree with Azdv he is clearly sharp on the high notes, like he is straining to reach them. If he had transposed to a lower key he could have done a better job of singing. Baritones should never try to hit a Tenor's high notes. At a lower key his voice would be so much better.

  • awesome

  • Gotta love singing along with this one!

  • good job check out my version on this great song

  • not bad damn good job

  • not bad ... but your voice sounds like something out of a punk band

  • this person shouldn't try to sing the harmony, it is out of their rang

  • I think he's done a fantastic job, he hits the notes quite well considering they're so high and they are being "hit", not out of tune or anything so an admirable job.

  • Great job! I now have someone to sing with. Thanks for doing that for all of us aspiring idols. Your harmony makes us sound good!

  • he is singing at least an octave higher than he shoulld be.

  • he's singing the harmony.

  • Awesome work! I'l sing to this when I get the chance. It's very kind of you to give this piece of charity to the youtube community. Also great guitar play!

  • Good work on the tricky harmony : great voice dude !

  • I enjoyed singing along to this...great job man.

  • Good job.. keep going.. :) I like your picking... Sounds great. ;)

  • 貴兄のおかげで気持ちよく歌うことができて本当に感謝です。ありがとう!

  • I think it's funny when clowns like "paxpaul" rip on a fine performances. Either they are wannabes with no skills who are jealuous or great players behaving like arrogant JERKS.

    Well... which one are you?

  • hey this is really good and i had loads of fun singing along with it! just one slight suggestion, i thought it was a bit fast. but otherwise excellent work my friend keep it up! :D

  • thats nice guitar play man

try to sing it lower it will sound better but very nice man

  • SINGER A LOWER TONE

    GOOD GUITAR

  • Wow, this is AWESOME!! You are dead on with the simon and garfunkel version, great job!!

  • dude this is awesome. i played your version and the studio one at the same time and it is dead on. I don't know what everyone is talking about, you're tuned perfectly. Thanks for this, i'm totally gonna go and record my own version and double track my voice with the harmonies you used. Thanka again, great job!

  • its very good, I can't believe that people get so uperty about the key, Paul Simon plyaed this on a show a few months back and had a capo on his guitar so I think its a case of play it in anu key that suits you. Do you have the sheet music for this rather than tabs,, I don't read tabs and find reading the actual music a lot easier and faster.

  • I have just uploaded my own version of this song, and found yours as a related video. I have sung the other part along with you and I think it sounds great together. I personally play it in A but that is just to suit my voice. You have put your own personal stamp on it and I think that is what folk music is all about anyway. The guitar accompaniment is awesome. Well done and please keep it up.

    Tony

  • you do a good job on a good, tough song.

  • Oh wow...that was very good. I loved it. Favoriting.

  • Jesus people watch an f'n video and get it. See fingers. See fingers. If you know your stuff it's all practice. Sorry This guy is WRONG.

  • Wrong key dude.

  • Yep, wrong key. Uncledave busted me for correcting him, and he is right: the studio recording isn't tuned down, and this performance is not in the right key.

Should be in C to match original. And the Garfunkel harmonies aren't right. Hmm...because you're in the wrong key.

  • The song was originally written and performed in the key of B Major, but due to tape-speed variation, sounds about a quarter of a semitone closer to C Major. If you can sing the harmony better, paxpaul, I invite you to post a video.

  • @mtreed55 ur a musical god

  • Pointing out, in a good performance/cover, that it's in the wrong key is very nit picky and snobbish. A cover is a cover for a reason. It's NOT the original. Leave it be.

  • OH NOEZ, IT'S IN DA WRONG KEYYY.

What a pair of pedantic girls. Oh and as for your nonsensical statement that the harmonies are wrong because they're in the wrong key; you are aware that the harmonies are supposed to be relative to the key the performer is playing in and not just to some fixed constant. right?

  • paxpaul, If you really are a good musician, post your performance in this song. The fact that mtreed55 caught your attention means he is really something. When I first heard this man, I subscribe to him right away and I really learn to play guitar through him especially the simon and garfunkel songs and he is an awesome guitarist. It really doesnt matter what key he plays cos he played it well.

  • @paxpaul

Regardless of key, this is a cover... there is nothing saying that a cover has to be exactly like the original. Awesome job :)

  • My husband's fav. But he plays it with an F chord in the chorus ... wrong?

  • yes thanks for that, but there are so many different tabs out there i just wanted to know the tab u used

  • Excellent harmony!

  • great stuff

but for us who would like to learn to play it the question is -----where can we get the tabs?

  • Learn to use google.

  • i dunno. i cant sing with it, it's throwing me off. i think you're not singing the garfunkel part right in parts.

  • i actually really enjoyed your vocal changes

  • All I can say is You nailed it pal. watching this video first thing in the morning is good for ones soul.

  • oh wow.........

  • I don't think you've realized that he is singing the *harmony* part, and extremely well too!

  • ok point taken

  • Excellent job. I can sing along to your perfect harmony. You've got great pitch and tone. What a great idea. Takes a lot of talent.

  • well done

  • Awesome!!!!

  • Right on brotha'

  • clap clap clap BRAVO ! clap clap clap ENCORE ! you are a pro !

  • you sing very well, great and good job

  • FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!! So beautiful to hear this Song! Can you please record it with that 2nd harmony voice so i can use ist for our private karaoke-paties???

You did it nearly perfect - GREAT!!!!

  • Yeah man, that was ace!

  • BEAUTIFUL.5.

  • I appreciate you posting this, for my brother and I are singing this song for choir in front of several hundred people, and I'm doing the harmony part and guitar. So this is how I would sound. I really like that someone put up the harmony part, because it would have taken me a while to figure it out haha

    sounds great!

  • Hi thanks for the second voice (sung by Art Garfunkel originally, if I am right).

One short notice: in my recording the guitar intro in bar 3 is repeated only once, not 4 times, as you play it. Thus S&G start singing with text "I am just a poor boy" in bar 5, whereas you start in bar 7.

Not a big deal, but worth a note for purists.

    Thanks again.

PS: want to know the meaning of my nick? RadlernIstDerBenzinpreisEgal? Means CyclistsDontCareTheGasPrice. Its worth a thought btw.
