  • Yes this is in Utah. Were at Pineview and Newton.

  • this is in utah right?

  • fly Fishing for Muskies!!!!!

  • how do u take the hook out?

  • AND........ the fish is dead, congrats!!

  • I know little girls who handle fish better, buck up there buddy!

  • @fishinwflies, we got better. This video was all about our first time and trying to figure it out.

  • u guys suck so much ass at handling these fish. its not difficult, leave them in the water after you net them and then slowly get your hand under their gill and you can grip them perfectly without hurting them.

  • @j0hnhaney, Yeah, we never said we were pros. I mentioned several times in the clip this was our first time. Were much better at it now.

  • I have caught quite a few tiger muskys at netwon just trolling with a rapala none big enough to keep however

  • ya and u cant keep um.

  • Thats because you can't keep any at newton

  • first part of last year you could

  • This is the worst handling of a musky that I have ever seen. This video should be removed.

  • @davecbassmuskie, Yeah we pretty much sucked. But like i said in the video, this was our first time. We never said we were pros.

  • Nice fish. Muskie elitists may not appreciate anything under 40 inches, but as you said, they're a hoot. Good video.

  • just reach under the gills man i have landed 40+ inchers with my hands you just go for it with a strong grip i almost had to land a 50 like that with no net but then it popped off so lucky me

  • And from what I understand Pineview produced the state record 53" and has produced tons of giant tiger muskies since it's stocking. I thought it was the crown jewel of the western tiger musky fishery? This is what I've always read.

  • No offense guys...but these aren't real muskies. These are hammer handles. I just fail to understand this whole fascination with try to catch everything on fly tackle...just to prove a point. Fly tackle is neither the best equipment or suited to fishing for these fish, especially in a lake. If you want to fish for muskies with fly, find a river. Contact me, you might have to travel but I know just the place. And you'll have a shot at a fish to 50" in an arena where you can sight fish. 6185593494

  • fly takle is just a more challenging way of fishing thats y people do it,

  • Is this Pineview?

  • it might be

  • just grab with 2 hands on the belly reallllly tight

  • or just behind the eyes an inch or two below their back bone with your middle/index finger and thumb..it will paralyze the fish, but with larger fish it's harder.

  • I don't know about "most intelligent freshwater fish"...

  • Tiger muskies are by far more dumb and easier to catch then pure strain Muskies. All Tigers are 50% pike 50% musky which make them fight much less, grow much smaller, and are prob 50% dumber then a real musky. A 45" tiger is considered trophy size. A 50" pure strain is considered trophy albiet they grow in the upper 50"s here in MN. You should learn how to gillplate so you dont loose your fingers! Also always keep the fish in the water until you are ready to take a photo. Bigger net is key.

  • Get a real muskie net!!! Thats looks like it is for perch compared to what we yse down here on Lake St.Clair

  • lol at 3:50 the guy keeps pulling his hand off is he scared?

  • he look like a real moron

  • I always want to catch a tiger muskie but can't. I don't know if is the river i live on which is the wolf river or i am using the rong stuff

  • Nice video, beautiful fish! The colour is just awesome. You can easily grab them by the neck (up to 24in) and the bigger ones can be landed by gripping the gill cover very tight. If they squirm, just thighten your grip, mind the hooks!

  • Well me and some buddies are going June 1st. I have been catching them at Pineview since a was about twelve. I go early in the mourning fly fishing (you can see them sunning and rolling in the willows) and troll and cast when its windy. Did you catch many smallies or large mouth? Oh and the next time you go try hooking the millions of Carp in pineview. I use number 10 bead head red san juan worms, number twelve green and olive wolley buggers with some flash tied in. Its a blast

  • where in Utah you fishing? I fish Pineview tons for Tigers on fly and bait casting. what rod you fishing? look at my profile photo. fifty two incher hog on a fly at Pineview.

  • Most of this was on Pineview. This was our first time fishing for muskies... it took a few outings, but after we learned a few things it was a blast! I cant wait for ice off!

Nice 52 inch muskie on your profile shot!

  • I caught something with canine like teeth .. not all the same size but all the same s hape it was lke looking into the face of a lizard it was so primitive looking.. in Canada.. and yes we have muskie too and even pike and walleye, anyway this thing felt like I caught onto driftwood.. and the driftwood had other ideas than being caught.. my rod didn't bob it moves with no give at all and 20 mins after it was bigger than my entire arm.. and I am female but that is still big fk it was a monster

  • Sounds like you caught a Bowfin (aka dogfish), Amia calva. They are indeed from a primitive order of fish that includes the gar!

  • Cool vid. If you use a bigger net you can unhook them while still in the water a lot easier!

  • Nice going Mike! I suppose if you are going to lose a finger, might as well be to a fish. :D Looks like a fun times were had by all, for sure.

  • This is good stuff! Wish I could have been anywhere near there... Can't wait to see more.
