  • You can drop that barbell. It has bumper plates.

  • if only one gym near my home had bumping plates!!!!

  • even though they are 225's, each leg lifts 225 unlike a squat where the weight is distributed equally between the 2 legs!!

  • how long have you been training for billy?

  • Lower the weight and do more reps.. Hell Ronnie Coleman even does it with 135. Most people who are really fit do it with no more than a 45 plate on their back.

  • great job

  • you make it look sooo easy!! i can barely do that with my own weight

  • good weight but no legs tho??

  • fuk me, thats impressive ! dunno about your knees tho !

  • I don't have any where to do these.

  • sure you do, go outside your gym after your leg workout and do walking lunges with no weight, as many as you can for 4 sets, that should do you and your legs..

  • damn...2 plates!!!nice work bro!!!

  • those are only 225.. lmfao

  • i have another video with 405

  • @GeneralFighter911 only 225 are you crazy i bet you cant even do it with your own wight hahaha

  • @GeneralFighter911 ... thats still pretty fucking good for lunges

  • @GeneralFighter911 HAHA YA I NO LOOK AT HOW DUMB HE IS CUZ HES NOT AS STRONG AS OTHER PEOPLE XD LOLO!!11!!! LOLOLOL

    twat

  • Great job bro

  • impressive yes, ill advised and dangerous, hell yes.

  • how much is that.

  • 225lbs. (4-45lb plates and 1-45lb bar.)

  • Brock Lasner weighs in at 275lbs

  • Thanks for that man, my whole office was watching you do them yesterday. Some heavy workout guys here and they were all impressed.

  • Just started doing these with the bar on my back, trust me, these are hard. I did them with a 50lb bar on my back so I can't even imagine this. On the other hand I'm 57 and did it after squats.

  • they get easy after doing them for a while though, i too do them after squats, usually the first few times your barely doing the bar, then out of nowhere your strength explodes...

  • How much did that peanut weigh in kilogramms? And how much are you using now (I assume, almost two years later)? And (if I can have one more) what repetitions do you do now?

  • 100kg, four 45s plus the bar.

  • idk, i stopped lifting heavy a while ago, but i hit 405 for 2 to 3 steps back around november/december

  • That's really good, but I find it to be much tougher to keep walking (in other words, step into the next lunge without pausing) and not stop after every lunge like you do in this video. Of course, you may have to reduce the weight a little if you were to do them the way I describe,. Nice job, though!

  • i agree man, i took this video close to 2 years ago though, so a lot of my techniwues have changed...

  • That is a nice gym

  • Thats tough shit man. I don't have the space for that at my gym I use 100 lb dumbells to do my lunges. Makes your arms really tired though, the weight is hard to hold for that long.

  • i hear ya man, i'm not a fan of the dumbell lunges for that reason, lol, i'd rather do them stationary

  • your knees are not supposed to touch floor

  • i know that, this set of videos is old, i have newer ones i just haven't taken them down cause they are classics, lol

  • Dropping the rubber weights isnt going to damage the floor whatsoever.

  • wow ..

  • nice!! i started doing lunges past month and i find they really work your gluets and ham's. Is it too much to do 3 sets of lunges after 5 sets of squats? i also do leg extensions/curls and calf raises on same day. I hold two dumbells at my side instead of this method, this ok?

  • yeah man that's fine, as long as your conditioned and experienced enough to do it, lol, i do 4 sets off squats, 3 sets of walking lunges, 3 sets of composite motion leg presses, 3 sets of farmers walks, and 3 sets of sled pulls, if your trained enough to handle the volume you'll be fine...

  • Why is it bad to have your knees touch the ground? Does that give you too much rest?

  • no cause the tendon is under tension, and the chances of damging it increase...

  • what exactly are the effects of lunges? do u they add mass to ur legs?

  • they can if you do the right rep range, probobly the best exercise for your lower body yet noone does them...

  • can you dunk?

  • dude thats true....no other excersise leaves my legs as sore as these

  • Thats awesome man... just don't let your knee hit the ground..

  • yeah man, been working on that, the knee doesn't hit anymore, and i'm also up to 275 at the moment :)

  • that is 225, and explain to me how the size of my legs has to do with how much weight i lift, please, i want to hear this...

  • Hey Billy, i think what the dude means is that most guys lifting that much have usually bigger muscles.

  • Now, can you help me understand something?

These walking lunges that you do, there is a portion which is the same as bulgarian squats(or stationary lunges) and then there's the other part in between, i.e. before and after you reach the standing position. What is the point of the second part strength and muscle wise?

  • To me it seems a bit useless for strength and only contributes to getting the excercise tougher on a cardiovascular level. For this reason i prefer stationary lunges to walking lunges. I'd like to know your view on this.

  • the recruitment pattern is different, stationary forard lunges, hit your quads a bit more, while reverse lunges hit your glutes and hamstrings a bit more, and walking lunges hit a bit of everything, bulgarian sucks are not nearly as good as any lunging movement at developing strength at a functional level, not only that but far more muscle fibers must be recruited to do this movement, i can easily write a 10 page topic on this, but i'm not doing that just to reply to a comment...

  • Ok, paying a bit more attention to the vid, the part where you finish the split squat until you get with both feet on the floor does some good work for explosiveness(even if it doesn't look particularly fast). That is certainly good for functional strength required at sports etc.

  • i somehow dought that is 220 your walking with

your legs should be alot bigger in my opinion if your walking with that weight

ud think ur calves would be bigger also

u are wayyyyy stronger then u look

    pce

  • nice

  • good jobb
