  • i find it extremely hard to believe this show got 8th.

tiny and minor parts of poorly executed drill most but hardly too notice-able.

if anything, i would've put CT Johnson in the Top 4.

I LOVED THE SHOW!!! Very, Very Nice!

-Marcher from the 3A, 4x State Marching Band: Argyle Eagle Marching Band.

  • CT Johnson's drill this year (2010) reminds me of Winston Churchill's drill back around 2004-2005. It's really clean and simple, i love it!

  • beautifull show! c:

  • The drill look very Michael Gaines

  • @TPCA44 It's very Darryl Pemberton

  • That movement 3....oh gosh....

  • Can't wait to see how y'all do at Grand Nats! Wish I could be there, but I know you're gonna represent the alumni, school & state to your fullest! Love y'all and miss you SOOO much! :')

  • Very hip show. For such a young band to place at all, let along in TEXAS is an amazing feat. Well done, Mr. Lipman and everyone who made this happen. Sersiously, to accomplish this as a three year old band is quite amazing. Kudos! This was huge fun! short plug - Love see this band do Inca Roads as a complete piece. You'd eat the world!

  • That was wonderful! Congrats on your continued success Jarrett!!! Reppin' New Jersey born teachers everywhere. :-D

  • i cant wait coranado high school marching band is going to perform this (im in it) and we hve learned all but the first movement in a couple orf weeks and we only have 2 directors, 20 somthing seinors and a feild with no side lines or hashes and it looks awsome

  • This is really amazing quality with a great camera angle. Is this a parent/booster recording or is this ripped from the DVD.

I'd just assume it was a DVD rip, except UIL doesn't sell DVDs in HD. If this is a DVD rip, was it upconverted before posting?

  • @takigan This was a parent video recorded on an HD camera in mts2 format. I had to "down convert" the file to get it onto You Tube. The video is best viewed using a blu-ray player that can play an mts2 file or dvd & on a wide screen HD tv w/a digital sound projection system. The picture & sound are both incredible!!! Of all the other performances from last yr the Area D prelim performance is probably the next best one since it is filmed at field level & the sound experience is different.

  • Me, a freshman, is playing this with my high school this year! It's a really fun show!!! (;

    -Band Nerd :D-

  • @SteeliTech Make sure you send me a link when you all are done at the end of the year. We would like to see how you all do.

  • CT Johnson's weapon line is the happening! i love it!

  • Hehe,I loved doing this show....(I'm in the Guard,in Flag line at the time hope to make Weapon for 2011) I loved the half skirt...but man did it get in the way. The show was still fun overall. :D

  • What area does CTJ perform in?

  • @456cres Area D

  • Wow that performance was phenominal. I've seen hundreds of shows and this is definetly one of my all time favorites. Im a fan of the CT Johnson band now. Congrats to the band. You all did a terrific job

  • @2:10 it's Kyogre

  • That poor loner during the ballad, side one front hash about 2 steps inside the 40 yard line.

  • @mw2god1234 I was supposed to be his partner :/ but I was conducting instead...

  • @thomascardwell7 loser

  • @Mickagume

No, it is not just CT Johnson. the level of talent these days is insane. If you think this is good, look up bands like Avon, LD Bell, Marcus, Bowie, Broken Arrow, The Woodlands... the list goes on, but these are easily the most consistently good (and they all keep getting better) bands of the late.

  • ah i'm in this band, but i didnt go to mini-band camp so didnt march. It was really awesome though

  • That's how it's done. I'm seeing a new Grand National finalist next year.

  • @0ceanic815 We Made finals we made 8th at Gand Nats

  • @Funkalution I know

  • @0ceanic815 oh how right you were

  • @Coppertop324 Always am, my friend. Always am.

  • I graduated High School in 1965, (having marched in 4 UIL contests), graduated UT in 1970 and went on to live and work in L.A. This is the first I've seen since then, and to modify an old ad slogan: "This is NOT your father's UIL"...these klids are absolutely FABULOUS! I've never seen anything like it - high school OR college! Are all the bands this good these days?... or is CTJ just outstanding?! ...or both?

  • If I had to pick a single favorite show from 5A this day, this would be it.

I think it's remarkable what Mr. Lipman has done with this program, especially considering that the school opened just three years ago and that he's so darn young (he was drum major of the Crossmen in 2007). I see a ton of promise for this band in the future.

  • Every single time I watch this show, I start to tear up. Hopefully this is where I'll be student teaching. :)

  • I enjoyed marching this show so much it was amazing. I am glad to have gone to state with this band.

  • @ItalianxJBx I totally agree we will never march another show like this one.

  • Enjoyed this show much more than a couple of the finalists! Seemed that the larger bands dominated finals but for a band with 180 (at state we had 186) yall have great sound! Looking forward to State 2012 with yall.

  • Wow! A very talented band you all are, The drill was very clean and very cool, Being a 2 year band and coming this far is outstanding. Looking forward to seeing you all next year.

  • I can't believe this school just opened in 2008 and they are putting on amazing shows like this in 2010!!! Great job CTJ Band!!

  • What's the idea behind all the sets that look like flying things? An airplane, birds, a kite? Great show, nice visuals, but Im just wondering.

  • @mw2god1234 dunno, maybe it means we're fly? :P seriously though, no idea.

  • damn we suck balls at south san hawe made area but not state:)

  • The impacts gave me chills

  • I wonder where this band will be at for 2012 5A state.

  • My friend told me one time "The best way to clean lines is to not form them."

I think he meant to say "The best way to clean lines is to be CT Johnson."
