Craig is the best Bond. Connery's Bond was too misoginist, Moore's too childish, Dalton's one was a bit clumsy (see Licence to Kill...). Brosnan was great... only in Goldeneye unfortunately. Afterwards, his interpretation was to close to the one of Roger Moore I think.
Craig gives his own unique approach of the characher. Playing him like a real cold blooded, merciless, brutal and classy killer. His Bond is much more mature and complex than all the previous ones.
By and large the perception has become positive. And he isn't a complete mess. The way he seduced Solange and Gemma Arterton was every bit as smooth and polished as Brosnan and I think the rough style suits someone who's still fairly new to the game (he's on his third mission in film). He's also very handsome so he could he easily be the badass

Yes, Daniel Craig is James Bond! I think "Casino Royale" is a very nice movie! Maybe it's not like "the old one", but Craig gave a good performance : let's accept changes!

By my criteria, the best Bond films include OHMSS and License to Kill but not Diamonds Are Forever. The best Brosnan Bond was the first half of Die Another Day. Moore's is For Your Eyes Only. Craig's Casino Royale IS Bond; Rectum of Solace is not.

The problem with Daniel Craig's Bond is after the wonderful 'Casino Royale' they went right off the tracks and that so-called Director Marc Forster basically undid all the quality of Martin Campbell's film and produced a third-rate action picture which was not Bond. Let us hope Sam Mendes brings back the sparkle and unique brilliance of 007 in the next picture.

Sure, the reboots are prequels, but a young, raw, cold assassin has been interpreted rather broadly as clenched, in-your-face and brutish. One never got that from Fleming's books.

Craig's films are reboots so theyve got nothing to do with the other films and don't have the classic James Bond ladies man feel to it since they basicly created an all new James Bond character...Casino Royal and Quatum of Solace are great movies and Daniel Craig is a great actor but the movies are more just action films than James Bond 007 films. I personally think Pierce Brosnan nailed the Bond character.
Quantum of Solace is on tv this thursday so maybe my op will change but probably not.

Not sure what was up with Quantum of Solace , it was'nt the acting I had a problem with , just seem a fishy storyline . weak scripting or something. It was a big contrast compared to Casino Royale.
After watching a few movies with Gerard Butler in like Law Abiding Citizen I think he'd fit the part. and lets not just sit on the archetypal fence for JB characters , he could well be any skin tone too.

People who hate on "Daniel Craig" or say Pierce Brosnan is the best clearly don't understand "James Bond." Nobody fits the real description of Bond better than Craig. Craig would make Fleming proud. And who cares how DC looks, he got the personality and nailed the Bond character down.
Brosnan was not the best Bond. He wasn't bad, but he could done a lot better. He was just a common ladies man. I actually liked the Goldeneye (with DC) for Wii slightly better than the Goldeneye movie.

The problem with Daniel Craig's Bond is after the wonderful 'Casino Royale' they went right off the tracks and that so-called Director Marc Forster basically undid all the quality of Martin Campbell's film and produced a third-rate action picture which was not Bond. Let us hope Sam Mendes brings back the sparkle and unique brilliance of 007 in the next picture.

The problem is that they re-invented Bond so that he is no different from any other action genre movie. Daniel Craig is an awesome action movie star, but James Bond is a legendary creation, with elements that should not be replaced. It is supposed to be over the top, fun, endearing with larger than life villains and extraordinary women. Gadgets and the gadget creator behind them is a must. And humor and charm are essential elements, otherwise it is not James Bond.

Craig is probably the closest to how James Bond would have been written by Ian Fleming had he lived today.
The re-boot was long overdue and the series really needed it.
I wish the old James Bond would have ended with Roger Moore. Although Timothy Dalton did a great job and his two movies are seriously underrated (and ahead of time too), they really just tried to sell an outdated concept in a modern suit with Brosnan. A 60's character stuck in the 90's. A walking anachronism.

Yes, Bond is a walking anachronism and that's what makes him unique. I'm sorry, the reboot may have followed Fleming's plot, but they failed to go back to the original character. Instead they turned Craig's Bond into the most generic contemporary action hero around. He's getting pipped at the post by the likes of Jason Statham and Matt Damon for crying out loud.

I just don't agree that Brosnan was pure GQ with cheesy one-liners his only trademark. That's rather too black and white. Goldeneye & some of TWINE showed his human side. Sure, the reboots are prequels, but a young, raw, cold assassin has been interpreted rather broadly as clenched, in-your-face and brutish. One never got that from Fleming's books.

personally, Daniel Craig is my favorite Bond, along with Brosnan, and before you flood me with hatred, here's why:
-Sure he is not suave, but if you read the first actual book, neither is that Bond.
-Craig is more of an emotional kind of guy in the Bond films--its always good to see a emotional side to the character
Anyway, I love all 007 movies, and each actor brought something new to the character of Bond, James Bond. It's all personal preference.

I am a fan particularly of Roger Moore's 007 but also loved the others including Timothy Dalton's darker approach. Roger Moore had a class and the wit. The women like Sean Connery because he was barbaric and slapped women around. Pierce Brosnan was excellent. James Bond must bring dimension and uniqueness to the role.

@helloimelliott : They did that with Timothy Dalton also--in rapid succession because they knew they'd goofed badly, and had to re-coup their losses fast. Daniel Craig is too proletariat-looking, and looks like a tweaker to boot. The glory days of Bond are over--it was a fabulous ride.
