my favorite gundam series. God, I love the EZ8. It has a very realistic and practical military feel. Not all overly fancy like the other lead gundams. Great review! You should do the MG Gouf Custom. In my opinon, it's a great kit. I had the HG one a very long time ago (when 08th team was airing on toonami), and I recently did the MG and loved it.
Lol never liked model collecting and all that stuff but looks very intresting :D
Well sorry to advertise but its a very good game :/
Check out my video on how to play Mobile suit gundam operation troy demo!
You don't need anything for this but a CD-R disc, Just make sure there is nothing in it. Plus a few things to download, also its totally free and its fricken awesome! Its all done in 4-5 minutes so its easy and quick. More details on my video :D
This is always on my list of my favorite gundams. 08th MS Team was one of my favorite OVAs and I love it considerably more than 00 or Seed. You kept saying off white but really its more of a tan or off tanish color which is because it was made to be used in urban and desert environments hence the word ground.
isn't there a much better versoin of the Ez8? I because I keep finding different forms of the high grade and master grade kits on amazon, ebay, and some dedicated gundam model sites.
Mind if I ask what type of kit this is and were you purchased it? I'm getting back into gundam full force, and I'd love to get into something a bit more constructive then the little plastic toys I use to play with when I was a kid.
I think this is actually one of my favorite 'lead' gundams (and models) because its default paint scheme is different from the standard white, red, and blue, with yellow/gold highlights.
Granted it still does contain a lot of white, and blue, and is somewhat plain, but it seems fitting given that it was supposedly designed from spare parts. I think its lack of colours also adds a certain elegance to it, but that's all just my opinion.
This was a great set of videos; thanks for sharing.
as for someone who started with the MG when they first released the RX78 and Zeta in 1996. The EZ-8 was an awesome kit that started having some of the inner frames we see today. I need to get another since I gave away my original to neighbor's kid when he broke the antenna.
the only thing i hate is that the EZ8 the proportion is a little off. wish there's a ver. 2.0 of it.
That knee joint can actually bend farther than this.
If you look at the assembly of the knee joint - it's not actually double-jointed, it's -triple- jointed. But one of the three joints is built in to the knee block itself, and it tends to be stuck in place when you first assemble it. But pull the knee block away from the upper leg, take a pair of pliers and force that third joint to unlock, and it'll be mobile and you'll be able to double the leg over as far as the armor will allow.
08th MS Team series was the best, and the EZ8 was my Favorite Gundam of all. The Reasons being, it was the most realistic, in terms of laws of gravity, physics, enginerering, and the Human factor. Also it was short and sweet, and pack with action.
even though i dont think this gundam is nowhere near as popular to other gundams i wish theyd make a ver 2.0 of this o.o this is actually one of my favorite looking gundams
very nice review ... I am also a gunpla fan ... and i also have a lot of gunplas... about 30 to 40 of em.. which is all MG and PG .. i wish i could make one one those video too.. anyways.. thx for the video
Ez8 Is definitely my favorite lead gundam next to the original RX78, I really like the gritty, military feel of all the 08th models compared to the heroic esq that we are getting nowadays. Great review, I find myself coming back to this one consistently.
this is an awsome looking kit and im ane that doesnt complain about artikulation at all. and i love the wepons.
the feet is why i like making dioramas you can make it look much better by diging it into the ground, alltho i have no kits i need to do this with i am very new to gundam modeling well 3-4 months
hey guyz don't forget also the Ez8 also equips the HAC armor, its has four beam powerful rifles on each side, one vulcan gun, pretty huge armour and also it has great thrusters but even so tis weight, thrusters and other such are unknown since its a heavy mass armor
Im planning to add the whole 08th team MG kits to my collection you know the MG rx79, MG eZ8, And even the Custom Gouf that was outstandingly strong for a Mobile Suit,Stands no chance to other Gundam's tho such as Burning,Gundam X,And the Turn A. etc
The thing this one has over the Ground Gundam is that is in fact very different lookwise from the original RX78-2. That and its military appearence makes it worthwhile, at least for me.
On the other hand, the HGUC ground gundam is better than any other 08th Ms Team's related kit (anyone who hadn't bought that one should fix that), so I hope (and I don't think it's that impossible with bandai's tendency to rehashing stuff) that the EZ8 gets the HGUC treatment.
Ah so many memories from this show...didn't it air closer to night or was it part of Toonami's Midnight Run? Am I going too far back and is it just another Adult Swim series? I forget but I just remember this series being like none of the others and definitely having more realistic character relations and environments.
rrobbert184, do you have the 1/144 Union Flag, and if you do, do you know that the 1/144 Union Flag come with a open right hand for holding Exia's shoulder like in the show? If you do see this please reply.
I don't think they do. What you CAN do though is borrow an open fist from Masurao/Susanowo and use it on the Flag. I'm not sure if this will work, but I'm assuming it will since the builds are similar.
chee, thx o.O i was wondering too,i know its kinda of american or western-liked military but i couldnt figured it out
the chin part which pops out & the round things like big screws or nats on the forehead(refer to the box cover at the begining) make it look solid-metallic yet very robotic
I'm a big fan of the OVA and I was happy to see this, especially since i am actually building the kit right now. It's done except for the shield and beam rifle, which I am waiting to buy some off-white grayish paint to perfect those pieces before putting them on. I may make a video showing it off when it's done. I think you did a little better with the detail lining, but i did paint the chest a little more, and I painted the tiny shiro inside the cockpit. I hope you would like to see it Robert
Awesome review. I'm forgiving enough to accept an older kit like this for what it is, but even for it's age, I wouldn't say it's too bad, actually. So, since I am a big fan of the OVA, I may actually consider getting this and/or the regular Ground Gundam and/or the GN Sniper someday.
And you can't count out the 08th MS Team Mobile Ball; that kit looks like it would be a LOT of fun to build! ;)
congrats on finishing your lead gundam collection, rrobbert. I just realised that the EZ-8 reminds me of the kind of MS police might have. dunno why. Anyway, thanks for the great review^ ^
People are just spoiled with the new fancy Master Grades. Back when this kit came out it was the bees knees. I enjoy old kits because I keep in mind that for the time, they kicked ass.
Prime, I agree with you that at the time, each kit that came out was awesome. Actually, I'm pretty happy with every MG I have after 1999s ZZ, with the exception of MG Nu's proportions.
My first MG was the Ez8 so its kinda special for me. I have added weathering effects to this kit and making it look a little dirty and grimy really add to the looks of this kit.
I do have to agree with what Robert said about the 2000 rule. This kit represents a turning point for the MG line when thing really stard to turn for the better.
The MG Re-GZ is alright. There aren't too many redeeming qualities though. Honestly it just seems like a blue Zeta, and looks a little cheesy with the color scheme.
Well if you haven't noticed its proportions are kinda bad, compare with the HGUC version. The MG's weapons are too small, the legs are also kinda small and i think the head is a bit too big,
do it, its a great book, one of the best pieces of gundam literature out there. probobly the most "realistic" view towards gundams and mobile suits. id love to see a movie of it.
the EZ8 isnt something that i can easily taking a liking too.Well,if you have owned a HGUC Ex-S gundam that came out in 2002 you ll be even be grateful the legs even bend.
Unfortunately, that's very unlikely due to the little interest Bandai has in revisiting their OVA series. Even for their big-name series it takes a long time to revisit them (Zeta Gundam 2.0 for example), and there's still lots of Gundams for them to MG-ify like the GX models, so if it ever happens, it will be nearly a decade before we see it.
I get the feeling you didn't enjoy this model too much, heh. It's definitely a very outdated model. At the same time though, the EZ8 certainly doesn't look like the type of suit to do acrobatic poses anyway.
I really wish they'd use that color scheme on more Gundams, at least. That less gaudy military look suits the tone of Gundam. Then again, 08th MS Team is pretty unique when you place it side-by-side with all the other shows.
The MG Dom is actually pretty good. I've recently built it, and it's pretty solid.
