What is Max-Q (not Qmax)?

No need for thrust on ex tank separation, the exploding bolts separate them away properly... I was expecting a more detailed how to get a brick in space

You have to use the Orbit MFD in the cockpit view to attain orbit. When the green circle is completely above the gray circle, you're in orbit.

"that orange thing is called the External Tank ( ET for short(and yes,I see the irony of this)) and it holds all the rocket fuel that the orbiter itself uses during the entire liftoff to orbit. Did you really think that the orbiter had enough room to store all that flame juice(or solid) on board? Although yes, it could be called a second stage... I suppose

@Adamdre actually I believe their is only one stage rockets used to launch the shuttle into orbit plus the shuttles main engines. the two white cylindrical objects on the left and right are the rockets and the orange thing you refer to is an external fuel tank that holds the fuel those rockets need. don't quote me tho i am not an expert :)

@Adamdre Second stage rockets are different... The "Orange thing" Is an External Detachable fuel tank (Or just External Tank, ET) carrying LOX-LH2 for the Space Shuttles' 3 Main Engines.

Second Stage would be if it had rockets on it, but it doesn't, it's just a fuel/oxidizer tank. However, they call the time after the SRB's separate the "second stage" because that's the Orbiter+ET, and the orbiter DOES have rockets.

But it can't use them without the ET, so by itself the orbiter's not a "stage".

and Meco occur at 8 minutes in orbiter too but i cutted some ascent footage out of the video to make it shorter

teh easiest thing to work it out is to download the STS-Payloads addon(available on orbiter hangar)

read carefully the read me stuff..they tell you all the other add ons needed(all free on orbiter hangar) and more important..the right order to install them..

so..you should start with a clean version of Orbiter and follow the steps

main engines are started 6 seconds before take off and produce a hell of smoke..or do you mean the oxygen purge/exhaust before engine start?

the condensation is part of maxQ effect and are included in STS Payloads add on for Shuttle Fleet

To launch, it's basically Ctrl and the + sign on the number pad, at the same time.

J jettisons stages. K opens shuttle cargo doors. F1 changes camera viewing angles.

Ctrl and the minus key held down together do the reverse - lower the thrust.
