Yes, our soldiers make mistakes sometimes. It would be nice if in the future 100% of our soldiers perfectly follow the U.S. military's requirements in treating the dead enemy soldiers' bodies with respect.

I'm an ex-Marine Sgt, and if anything is true about combat it's that it tranforms young men and brings out the dark side of our too human natures. It's very easy for arm chair moralizers, thousands of miles from the battlefield, to pass judgement because for them combat is nothing but a fantasy. Taking cheap shots on the evening news, expressing outrage, and labeling these young men with stereotypes is little more than a national past time.
I don't know why things like this come as such a shock to civilized society. This is what war does to the young men who have to fight it. Everything gets turned upside down. What is morally correct in civilized society can be wrong in a war zone. Mercy and compassion become anger and hatred, a respect for life turns into a desire for the death of your enemy and anyone who supports them. It's very easy for arm chair moralizers, thousands of miles from the battlefield, to pass judgement because for them combat is nothing but a fantasy. Taking cheap shots on the evening news, expressing outrage, and labeling these young men with stereotypes is little more than a national past time.

What is morally correct in civilized society can be wrong in a war zone. Mercy and compassion become anger and hatred, a respect for life turns into a desire for the death of your enemy and anyone who supports them. In Vietnam I knew guys that sliced off ears and strung them like glass beads.

My cusin was in Iraq. He was telling us how this is nothing compared to what he saw. He saw squads reciving orders to kill entire towns. Women, children, and men all together. Go to the original video of Marines pissing on them and scroll down the comments checking the ones that are thumbed up. You will see how sorry they are to have done this. By the way a reported 150 k civilians were killed. That's only the reported number. Still don't believe me?
