i work as a flash game developer, and your video has pretty much everything i need for the sound effects of my current project (can you guess what kind of game i'm making? lol)

@MrMoachMayhem As your probably one of the very few people who seem to like this film, yes feel free, you have my blessing. Quite a lot or people miss the point with this film, they don't see the fact its an old bike, seldom used, when it is used, its a bugger to fire up, due to lack of use & stale fuel no doubt, but after all that, its only used as a field bike for a bit of fun, nothing more, its not a competition, its about an old bike & what it takes to fire it up before she can be ridden. :)

while we're at it - i'm currently trying to simulate the transmission on the bike, but it's hard to get right, and the manual only says so much about it

so i thought i'd just ask somebody who owns one... (i've asked my boss if he'd go for buying one for us here at the office, but we agreed that it might not be very good for the hardwood floors)

so, i ask:

how are the gear ratios?

can it drive right out of the high gears?

how much rpm's does it typically run?

@MrMoachMayhem No idea about the rpm's no rev counter or speedo - I can pull away in 3rd just about, but thats about it. 6 gears in total. Gears 1 to 3 are really low, second being a much used gear for me.

those bikes are actually very hard to start because the kickstert is so short you cant get enough leverage to move it.

@cjmotorsified This bike never fires up first time, never has. It only ever comes out once in a very long time stale fuel no doubt, when I feel like messing around on it. Yes your right it does have a short kickstart and loads of compression, like many 2 strokes they can be temperamental at times. I dare say if it was used more, new spark plug it may fire up quicker, but to me its just a play thing so Im not fussed. I get lots of wisecrack remarks on here about this bike, usually from the idiots

quite weird but how much compression is there if its 250 cc i would put electric start :P or some system which would start it =)

@TheMoeva There is quite a lot of compression, but I certainly wouldn't want to fit an electric start on the bike, its a trials bike, and its not meant to have electric start. Just pump up the muscles in your best leg and go for it... :-))

@cheesewedge631 There's nothing wrong at all with this bike, other than a lack of use, resulting in it taking a few kicks to fire it up. So by saying you wouldn't go any where near this bike if it were in a sale situation is very short sighted on your part.

Plus anyone with the slightest knowledge of 2 strokes knows full well how temperamental they can be.

So coming across as the "Big I am" - "The expert" - I would expect you to know this

I bought this for my lads some years ago, It still only comes out once in a while. The petrol in the tank must be over a year old easy...... Once you have the bike they don't cost much money really to run, and you get lots of hours of pure fun if you can find some open ground to ride them on. Can recommend getting one.
