I may try a similar experiment for my sociology class to test the consistency of people's reactions. It seems like every person in this video first got defensive but quickly became friendly. Shopping carts are sort of a grey area when it comes to possessiveness. Since they haven't paid for the items in the cart yet, I think they're more likely to let an invasion of their property slide. I wonder how the reactions would differ if you rooted through their bags after they checked out.
