Tomorrow we are gonna do a mash up of two recipes, or maybe just stick with the one, not sure yet, But my Aunt and brother were raving of the sesame chicken. Keep up the great work. Can't wait for more recipes
You are so amazing. I just wanted to send out a big shout out to you, that I made this recipe tonight, though I think trying to rush throw the dipping process had to use a bit extra on the egg, and corn startch, and we doubled the sauce, it works perfectly in a 2 cup measuring cup. I also love the videos with your gram, so sorry to hear of her passing. I just found your recipes.
@lov3r4lif3 Thank you so much! Sometimes the chicken dipping can get a bit messy, but I'm so glad it turned out! Thank you so much for trying this and writing :)
This was so good! i'm watching what i eat as i am on Weight Watchers but wanted to find something to fill my quest for good chinese. I couldn't deep fry but made due by using less oil and a really hot frying pan and finished in the oven. It was amazing and the chicken so moist. Thanks for posting!!
This is like my favorite Chinese meal along with vegetable rice I really didn't know it was this simple I must try ASAP thank you so much for sharing hey can u please check out some of my recipes and let me know what you think thanks again.
everything tasted good, but i would recommend leaving out the sesame oil, because it gives it a wierd taste. also try to find a substitute for the ketchup. those 2 things kindof threw it off. other than that, it was good!
@ShakiraWannaPickle Ketchup is basically a mix of tomato sauce, sugar, vinegar, salt and other spices. You could use tomato sauce and then mix in some sugar, vinegar and salt instead of using the ketchup if you wish :)
i honestly never realized how simple a recipe this was! paused the vid a billion times and made the chicken as i watched the vid, pausing for the one hour was the hardest part, thank gawd tv was on hehe
I made this last night.I just got a wok and its the first dish ive cooked in it.It was amazing! soooo much better than the buffet I frequent.thank you for the great recipe! :)
@JogBird I store it in a container and try to reuse it a couple times. Once it is thoroughly used, I put it in another container and save it until I have quite a bit of oil. Then I give it to a local restaurant to place with their used oil which another company can recycle :)
If you are short on time just use frozen popcorn chicken from Tyson or Foster Farms and fry in wok with oil then follow the rest of the recipe. It turns out great and no mess of breading your chicken.
I just wanted to thank you for the recipe! It was AMAZING!!! My family loved it! I love watching your videos, and I have learned so much from you! Thanks again! :)
I'm actually making this right now!! Waiting for the chicken to finish. Does anyone know if the sauce is supposed to smell heavily of ketchup? It smells a bit strange... verrrry ketchupy. Hope I'm doing this right!!
@jr4chargers Sherry is a wine and here I use the cooking version of sherry which can usually be found in mot local grocery stores near the vinegar section. And asking questions is never dumb :)
i had about 90% of the stuff to make it so i went and made it and i am eating it now and its good. i dont know if i did it right but oh well it taste like i got 90% there lol
@taylor8546 I know you were asking the uploader, but I agree that the sesame oil is important. It's powerful and adds a wonderful sesame flavor with just a little amount.
Thanks Lila, I think I'll add some of that chicken soup base to the cornstarch too. They make a low sodium version also. I really like this stuff. A 16 oz jar goes a loooooong way. I smile at each and EVERY.....go ahead...... lol.....
You are an awesome instructor, I think you're soothing tone and your ever-so-slight southern twang (?) made you sound as sweet as a button. Thanks for the recipe, Ill be making this tomorrow!
i made this and it was awesome....I did not have Sherry so i used Red wine vinegar and a table spoon of chilli and it seems to work fine. Thanks for the receipe
Tried this recipe tonight and it was a hit at my house, thank you! Although, I would say it was too sweet. Is there anything I could do to make it less sweet without sacrificing taste???
@sergio125 I had the same problem, but i found that if you take each individual piece and rub it with a napkin all around, you will not sacrifice the taste, and it will much more enjoyable to those that don't have the sweettooth.
@TheCopyrightme I don't think it's uncommon at all. I went to college for culinary and I thought it was going to be strange and that I would be out of place. I went to a Culinary school at 17 and the class was filled with people my age both male and female. So it's definitely not uncommon. I actually thought I was going to be the only male in the class. As sexist as that sounded but it was about 50-50.
Also love the recipe, this does sound really good to make. I just love Chinese food :P
whats with you and peanut oil. a lot of people have allergies, second why do you marinate the chicken? i like the honey though but i never used vinegar...im gonna try it out. my sauce recipe that was taught to me by my adopted chinese family is red though????
I made this tonight and I couldn't stop eating it. Super delicious! Easy to follow directions and very good video. Thank you. Looking forward to trying another recipe of yours.
I just got done cooking this. The sauce was good. The only not so good was that the cornstarch coating on chicken peices tasted raw, even though the chicken was fried until golden brown.
I'll make it again, however, I'll just stick to coating them w/flour.
Yeah, I thought but I wasn't sure because I have saw a recipe with the same name like this one with different ingredients, but more over I like this one lol
It looks great, I definetely should try this one lol. I tried General Tso's chicken and I really liked it so much. I'd like to ask, r these recipes authentic chinese or more americanized?

I put the chicken bits and flour in a bag and shake well. This way I coat them with flour instantly, so it fastens the flour, egg and cornstarch period. I suggest it. ;)
