  • or go to a store show receipt then they will remove it for you

  • Yes this actually works! I just used a lighter to melt down the cone. A pair of pliers to remove the screw and a knife to pry the ball barings lose and it popped right off in less than 5 mins

  • Shrinktrends. com

More ways shoplifters and employees steal

  • Melted the end off with a match and the spring popped right out. Took needle nosed pliers and pulled out the metal cylinder around the needle. Ball bearings and everything came out. Ink tag slipped apart. My mom bought me this great bag when she was on vacation and they left the tag on. I was so bummed bc I haven't been able to use it yet, and now I can. Thanks!

  • I combined your instruction with the fire method because the piece that covered mine was way to big and hard to break apart without help. But I didn't want to burn the entire thing for fear of setting the article on fire. In any case, I found everything I needed to know here on this one feed. Took me all of about 2 minutes once I sat down with it. I did wrap the ink cartridge tightly with saran wrap first (just in case). You saved me a trip back to the mall. Many thanks!!!

  • GEE THANNKS , I GOT INK ALL OVER MY AMERICAN EAGLE SWEATER !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @mbegwhitley I did the same thing

  • I burned the tip of the ink tab with a lighter, pulled the spring out and tipped it upside down and the rest of the parts fell out. Took less then a minute. I didn't have my receipt and I really wanted to wear my new jeans. Why don't cashiers check the clothes before bagging them? It's so aggravating.

  • just put it in the freezer for a day.

  • this girl is so inteligent =)))))

  • all i did was wrap a plastic bag around plastic end that has the ink inside tighltly. then broke the whole thing off with my hand and all the ink stayed inside the bag. didnt damage my pants at all.

  • @overk1llz your fuckin stupid i got ink all over a $60 shirt

  • THANK YOU !!! I used a Dremel Tool (as I am a handy man). I got it off in 40 seconds thanks to your video. I cut the cone all the way around about 2/3rds the way 'up' the cone. Once cut, I just used needle nose pliers and pulled all the guts out. WIN !!!

  • worked ! the easiest and fastest way to do it ! i got pants and they frgot to take it off, and i dnt have my receipt.sooo... thank u :)

  • idk why so many people dislike this video, cuz it helped me more than the other one that has more likes than this. I burned the thing off, and then pulled the spring out, and put a magnet on the tip of the needle, and then the two pieces easily pulled apart :D thanx for the help.

  • suuuure, you "bought" it xD

  • imagine doing this in the changing room

  • Ugh I hate ink tags it made me late for my graduation once

  • Thank you sooooooooooooooooo much it worked except that i didnt have any ball barrings in there it just slipped right off

  • Comment removed

  • or you can just shoot it off?

  • how did you get the dome part off?

  • i did the light the dome end on fire, took 10 sec, super easy, just light the fuckkk out of it, the spring shoots out, and be careful with the pin. wire snip it if you got to.

  • THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! YOU SAVED MY NEW YELLOW SNOOPY SHIRT! :D

  • I bought some jeans across the border(from canada to the states), and low and behold the nearest clothing store removed the tag for me, and obviously without a receipt as it was a completely different store. It's probably a common occurrence though, if the shopkeeper doesn't have any experience in the area then they are much more likely to refuse assistance. They are unlikely to accuse you of anything though unless they carry the exact same clothing item(s) in their store.

  • I just used a kitchen knife. A lil ink spilled but It was denim jeans so you barely can see it. plus its by the waist area, so a shirt will cover it up

  • Thank you so much!!! My vacation is tomorrow and I was washing clothes when I found this on my bathing suit. I'm going to the beach and I was devistated. I wouldn't have time to go back to the store but after watching these videos, I removed I successfully!! I'm just so glad someone's stupid carelessness didn't knock me out of swimming! :)

  • Thanks for giving me the confidence to try this. I bought a dress this evening and didn't know the ink tag was on the dress until 11 PM -- stores closed. I need to wear this dress to my father's funeral tomorrow morning. I was frantic. I cut off the tip and the spring came out, but I couldn't see any bearings. I took a strong refrigerator magnet, held it to the exposed metal plate (which I couldn't remove), turned it over so the ink part was on top and it just came apart. Thanks again!

  • what fuck man

  • why cant u just put it in the freezer ..that way the ink freezes and u just tear it off ?

  • dont the stores use a magnet so cant i use one of those?

  • I took a tag off my hat that was bought in Florida at disney. I live in texas. When my family got home the tag was discovered. I used a series a small drill bits the biggest being 1/4" started small and drilled the small pinhole that was there to start. You just need to drill it big enough to remove the spring. then just wiggle it gently and comes apart.

  • Thanks so much for your help. It worked just as you said it would. It saved me the hassle of going back to the store and standing in line again!!!!

  • Don't listen to the rude comments. You were just trying to do a thorough job of explaining!

  • Thanks SO much! I burned the top off then followed your instructions and it worked out perfectly! Now I can wear my cute pants to see American Idol tomorrow!

  • We are looking forward to your 15 hour video on how to screw four legs on an IKEA table.

  • Retardedly long video. I removed one of the things today. I took a hacksaw and cut around the circumference of the plastic cap to remove its tip. The internal mechanism with the spring, plunger and steel balls then popped out, and the cap slid easily off the pin.

P.S. it's not a ball bearing! The balls apply pressure to the pin creating friction so that the cap is difficult to remove. It can probably be pried off with enough force: but the fragile ink capsules are exactly where you would pry.

  • ehr does anyone know how to remove the inkt itself once the tag has been ruined.... guess i should ve watched this vid sum earlier XD

  • do you think an alarm really goes off? or are they just fucking with you cuz how do people leave with the tag still on and nothing happens?

  • you spend half the fucking time explaining unnessicary shit....

  • bench grinder works for the pros...grind the back off...takes 10 seconds

  • the suggested comment to simply melt the pointed end worked beautifully for me! it took a bit longer than 5 seconds but after a minute or so of melting and burning off of the thin exterior shell of plastic around the tip, i was able to pop out the spring and the device detached! no ink catastrophe! thanks for the advice!

  • yeah it has helped me pilfer so much merchandise from the local clothing store that i can quit my day job now and follow my dream of swiping stuff from clothing stores and palming it off at a much lower price.

    thank you for the advice!!!

  • Aaaargh. Doesn't look like the ones that REI has on the shorts I bought.

Fuck. Looks like I'm gonna have to drive an hour back to the store.

Already dug my receipt out of the garbage can!

Thanks for the video anyways...might check out a couple others and hopefully not have to drive out to Santa Monica

  • Just so everyone knows putting the ink tags in the freezer will not work! They have alcohol in them therefore the ink will not freeze.

  • Can you wrap the ink side of the tag in a plastic bag and secure the plastic tightly with elastic band before you try in case it goes off or is a newer version that can't be done this way?

Never had to do it so far and hoping I never have to. Lol

  • put item in frezzer overnight hit with hammer

  • WOO HOO!! It worked!! I bought a hat @ Spencer's for my winter baby that's due in a couple of weeks and the guy forgot to take the tag off, And I couldn't find my receipt.

    What I did was:

    1. Melt the top of the cone part.

    2. There's a little metal piece and the top of the cone part, you can easily pop that off.

    3. Under that little metal piece is a plastic piece pop that off too.

    4. The spring thingy just take that off.

    5. The ball bearings was the easiest to get off took a pointy knife, a WALA

  • @UrbanPrincess2008

good lookin on the info ! THIS SHIZ WORKS !!!

  • @UrbanPrincess2008 Works great! Easy as pie, thanks.

  • @UrbanPrincess2008 11 months and your post is still the fastest fix, no disrespect to the poster of the vid

  • @UrbanPrincess2008

Thank you so much. I had an interview the next day. I purchased a white shirt got home and there was the cone. I was angry at first, thank God for you and the internet. Folks just melt the top, pop everything out and pull the cone and the flat piece a part.

    That's it!

  • Thanks! I recently bought some clothes at JCP only to get home and find a tag left on one of my new shirts. Once we got the case off all we needed was a a strong magnet to get the ball bearings to pop right out

  • With a bit of patience and some various sharp metal objects such as wood carving tools and giant kitchen knifes that you are okay with ruining, the gouging into the non-ink side of the ink tag does indeed work.

  • @andrwlee actually most stores have a policy that they won't remove a ink tag from another store.

  • The easyest way that took 5 seconds, is to light the pointy part on fire and that spring and everything shoots out thur the weakend plastic AND BAM

  • @ghostikailo I do appreciate the feedback. I'll reiterate that at the time I made this video, there were no other suggestions to burn the plastic tip. I did the best I could with that information I could find. My video was the first on youtube that I could find that involved this particular style of ink tag, which involved a plastic tip and ball bearings.

  • @xaruiz You are the one that made it possible for me to do that:), thank u very much. Once u told me that the ink was in the other part, and there was a spring:):). Thank u very much.

  • @xaruiz u know i couldnt of done it with out your movie, i wouldnt of understood how it worked.

  • @xaruiz I hack sawed the pont off and followed your bearing removal instructions. Thank you!

  • @ghostikailo I did what you said. My girl friend bought a shirt tonight and the stupid people left the security tag on it. Lite the pointy end on first until the spring comes out. then pull/shake back and fourth pulling on it until it comes off.

  • make a vid!!

    @ghostikailo

  • @ghostikailo I think that this video is stupid and wrong. I work in Loss Prevention for a retailer and by you guys posting this type of info you are helping people brake the laws and are causing losses to company's. This video and info should be removed a.s.a.p.

  • @sexybishop32 and this is why u fail. first off i seriously doubt some ones gonna go burn ink tabs at a store. second if they do that secures ur job so what the hell do u care. you should be encouraging theft. this is America that's how it works. if your job is to prevent theft, the last thing u want to do is come up with a way that does that, because if u do well u dont have a job any more. so stop nerd raging on the internet.

  • @ghostikailo this was so easy and it didn't mess up my clothes =) thanks for the info

  • @ghostikailo burning the tip off to expose the spring worked AWESOME!! take out spring and carefully remonve silver casing to expose bearings. easy removal with tweasers and off it came. Took all of 5 min.

  • @ghostikailo omg it worked! thanks so much! jcpenny always leave those darn tags on merchandise

  • @HeyGuysItsMolara your welcome

  • @HeyGuysItsMolara

LOL. I have the same problem. From JCPenny too. But I live 12 hours away from where we bought it. Damn tags.

  • @BringYouTheHorizon06 aaw thats no good! good thing u know this method works

  • @ghostikailo I used a heat gun to remove it. Same as a lighter but no risk in burning clothes. The funny thing is that when I entered stores the alarm always went off. I thought it was just the little beep the alarms make when people past by so I ignored it. Nobody even bat an eye at me. I notice at home see this comment before seeing the video and bam, problem solved. I could have stolen $1000 worth of clothing and gotten away with it!

  • @SI0AX As long as its from a corporation go for it lol

  • Thank you so much!!!!I got a shirt from JCP and they forgot to take off the ink tag I was going out that night and noticed the tag before we had left. I used a knife to burn/melt off the top of the dome then took the pieces out. This was a life saver!!! :D

  • This was very helpful. After a while of watching videos and such I just burnt the top of the dome and then took out the pieces of it which works as well. You can do it with that hat but i see where it would have been tricky

  • Comment removed

  • Thank you so much...Swore for 2 hours before seeing this video...Then, my nightmare was all over in 2 minutes....

  • just use neodymium magnets that is how they release them in the stores. but you have to have a fairly strong one.

  • securemoi.ecrater.com

    hook spare arm sensormatic,

    security hard tags detacher

  • i work@jcpenneys&i bought my mom a outfit.well got home&it had ink tag on it.shes on her way so i tried lighter method&it workd.my tag is very similar2the1n this video.i just meltd the cone peeld back the plastic and poped out all the pieces&it released!i know i shoulda just taken it back2work&gotten it taken off but its a half hr drive&im off 2morrow.so thanks4this video even tho u didnt use lighter it gave me courage knowin it could b done!

  • I had this happen to me today! I bought a hoodie from JCPenny's, and didn't discover the ink tag until I got home...and I live 30 minutes from the store. So, I did as this video suggested, but what happened was when I popped out the center metal ring, I guess the force of prying it out busted the glass ink tubes. Anyhow, it didn't really matter, because my hoodie was dark grey, and also I scrubbed the spot with "Tuff Stuff" spray...then threw it in the wash. You can't tell at all...

  • @biomed30 Was it a South Pole hoodie? That was the brand of mine, I haven't gotten the tag off, but I think those tags are defective and badly placed.

  • magnet

  • @andrwlee Although I appreciate the suggestion, I didn't have my receipt and not all stores use the same style of ink cartridge. If you've read other comments here, people have had issue with the stores accusing them of theft or getting the cops involved. I couldn't take it back to the original store either because it is in another state. How would someone "forget the ink is liquid". Why do you think people go through such effort to make sure it doesn't break on them?

  • When plastic is burned it releases a poisionous gas. eHow wants to kill you.

  • man i tried it && i got inked on ;[

  • Thanks alot took mine back they didnt believe me and were basically saying i stole it so this helped thanks:)

  • lol im scared its gonna explode in my face.lol

  • Thank you it worked!!!!

  • use magnent

  • I think you'll find that the ink in that particular tag will freeze if you put it in your home freezer! You can pry alot of the ink capsules out with a small screwdriver without breaking them!

  • Put it under lots of water break the ink tag water dilutes the ink? no stain. Problem solved

  • burn the small side orink tap it willmelt the ball bearings will fall out and pull apart

  • i had a bag with an ink tag like that, but that tag had 4 ink canisters in it, and the tag itself was black.....

to remove it i shoved a screwdriver in it and pulled it appart, i don't it twice on 2 bags and the ink didn't explode.........those tags don't do anything except make the sensors beep....

  • I really like things like : NOT FOR SHOPLIFTING PURPOSES :D i wonder how many ppl are watching this to learn it just for shoplifting like me :D

  • @AndyCAgi lol hell yea

  • THIS HELPED SOOO MUCH!!! i had almost the exact same experience as you! I bought a throw blanket from disney paris and then went back to london and noticed it was still there :P and none of the videos had the right style of tag :) and i read the exact same ehow article as you, with the screw driver, lighter and rubber band methods. that's soo weird :D

  • I just kept pulling, slowly but with increasing strength. But don't go too far.... if you think its going to break the ink capsules, then stop and come back to it. Give it a day or two... a few minutes each day and tada.... it came off without breaking the ink capsules.

  • Skip to 3:40 if you do not wish to sit through my lengthy explanation. Criticism is always appreciated. I apologize the video is longer than what most people would prefer. I'd redo it if I still had the ink tag.

My intention was to explain the methods I tried but were unsuccessful due to the different style of the ink tag. If you are unhappy with anything less than that, please spare me your pointless comments.

  • @xaruiz ty I bought a shirt when I was on vacation and the stupid worker did'nt remove the ink tag, so this video helped me alot.

  • OMG IT WORKS! Thank you for saving me the trip back to the store and headache to get this thing removed. I bought a shirt for my son and when I got home realized the ink sensor was on it. I thought no prob I'll just take it back but could not find my receipt, my only proof I had purchased it and not stolen it. The one time I pay with cash and not use my debit card ARGHH. But just slice off the top point and it all falls apart, thanks!

  • now smash it

  • hahhaa! exactly.

  • "Concrete residue" == you filed away your hat.

  • skip to 3.40 to get to the actual point of this video.

ho, lee, fuck. that took a while for a 10 second explanation

  • I don't mean to be rude but HOLY CRAP could you not get to the point of it right away? Talk about long winded....

  • just go back to the store!!

  • @LOKOGONO I was in Texas, the store I bought it from is in Florida.

  • @xaruiz oh!!!!! never mind!!!

  • @LOKOGONO I took a shirt back to the store one time. I even had the receipt with me and they accused me of shoplifting and called the cops. Even with the receipt and the person who rang me up confirmed I bought it, I had to let the cops talk to my bank and confirm the debit card transaction. So yeah. Fuck taking it back to the store. Fuck the store.

  • @Mehoe07 OH CRAP!! NEVER MIND THEN!!!! STUPID CASHIERS!!!

  • @Mehoe07 always some stores forget remove security tag on clothes, however I saw most dvd case came with it but no way to remove.

  • Watched this video, and got inspired to use a file to file away the cone section. Uncovering a metal cover piece, I then filed down to a plastic covering, which when filed away shot a spring out in the air, and left those pesky ball berings exposed. Got them out and popped off my ink tag. Thanks!

  • you are the best! thank you for yuor advises they really work!

  • I would like to tell you this video is waaaaay too long and makes the process look complicated.

Here is what I did and it only took me 1 minute:

    1. Burn the top part of the cop (non ink side)

    2. Scrap away what you burned with a household knife

    3. There is a spring, don't be afraid and just slowly pop it out

    4. Cover up the ink side with tape and jiggle it a bit

    5. Voila it comes apart very easily, no need to worry about the "balls"

    It's so simple

  • Ok first the hat rocks, second the person who made this video is a girl with a slightly raspy voice, and third you really shouldn't call people names before getting to know them...oh and one more thing don't insult people that are just trying to help!!

  • Your tutorial is really helpful!

My mom bought me some pants from JC Penney and when I got back to my apartment in another city I noticed the ink tag still on. I don't have a car and the closest JC Penney is almost 15 miles away, and I didn't have the receipt.

I used a Dremel to get the plastic off. It only took a couple of minutes. :)

  • Oh My!! Thank you... came home from mall with son's new shirt for valentine's dance and found the ink tag still on. No time to go back to the store.. so I burned the tip of the cone with a lighter.. it kind of bubbled and then exposed the spring that fell out. The metal casing was a little tricky.. used a knife tip and pried it to the tip of the pin and once that was off the ball bearings fell out and released the tag. Thanks again!

  • concrete residue? WHAT lmao

u mean u scrapped ur newly bought hat

  • Freeze it and then use pliers ;)

  • i never thought of that, good idea! just happened to me today. bought a shirt & hat, dumbass forgot to take off the tags, so we wrapped the ink part with a plastic shopping bag, snapped off the other part and cut.

  • @lifterforlife1983 does that really work?...sears left one on my WHITE shoes.. =[ I don't want to risk it without being sure

  • @lifterforlife1983 Hey great idea but wont the clothing get wet.

  • @lifterforlife1983 holy shit does that work?

  • fantastic thank you it worked i only used a knife and it worked thanks alot

  • Hahaha, my GF just got me a Donald Duck hat just like that and sure enough, back in Texas with security tag...that's pretty hilarious.

  • very helpful took me longer to watch video than to actually do the thing . thanks my kid was happy to get his spongebob hat .

  • ya i think the idea about burning the top was the best it worked great and i didnt even mess my jacket up :P

  • using a magnet work too

  • i just melted the cone top a little bit, pulled out the spring with needle nose pliers, and took the needle nose pliers and pulled out the metal piece and all the bearings came popping out. But just as a precaution i had plastic bags underneath the piece on each side just in case it broke. thank you for the tips!

  • Thanks!

Helped, but to make it more clear you should say that it's an ultra-ink tag (put it in the tags for the video)

And mention something about the spring/inner rubbery/plasticy thingy
