The GPS and the Docking station simply have a small magnet in the body that is positioned in a certain spot that will engage the GPS and the Docking mode.

Clear plastic has a way of creating static electricity and thus holding any dust or hair etc. that comes near it. Get the leather/rubber case and it makes a better surface for keeping the Droid protected.

The case with my Droid (wife bought it as an extra when she picked up the phone) is a hard rubber or carbon case. It is not high gloss and fits very well. I do have to remove the back cover of the case when placing the phone into my media station.

The accelerometer does indeed work, quite well. For some reason, the only time the phone will not automatically switch to landscape is on the homescreen with the keyboard closed. Just a quirk of android 2.0. Not a big deal though, honestly, it's not hampering in any way. You see the same apps vertically as you do horizontally, and you can actually populate the screen with more app icons when in the vertical mode. But yes, the orientation will switch automatically in everything else.

Does the accelerometer only work when the keyboard is opened or does it work at all times?

all times it wasnt doing it there because of that dock it was an iphone dock not the one made for the droid!

I played with a Droid at VZW and the accelerometer did not work and when I watch the videos, the accelerometer only works when using the web browser.....but I will test another and see if it was my fault.....Thanks!

thats because it needs to come off their security device. it has a magnet in it. i had the same issue

From the video, it only seems to rotate when the keyboard is slid out. I was under the impression that the accelerometer would flip the screen regardless of the keyboard being displayed or not.

it does but for some reason it's not doing it in this one. If you see any other videos it will probaly show the droid using its accelerometer.
