Love this song. For me it's their best work. I saw them back in 89 or 90 at Misquamicut beach in Rhode Island. Great concert. I'd love to see them again. This time around I would bring my son. He's a big fan and I think it would be pretty cool to have him there with me. Its got to happen soon before its not cool to hang with dad anymore.
my mum took me on a 1 yr trip around australia when i was 8yrs old..this was one one of the soundtracks she had in the car..i hear this music and go straight back there..its a sad but good feeling...THANKS 4 THE MEMORIES MUM!
it's also boring because there is no intensity. as you can see i have alot of opinions. the intensity is lacking because they're just singing there's no stage show. B-52s email me. I have alot of creative ideas.
but it's also your perspective. just imagine them doing what the're doing as if it was the studio. The B-52s are one of a kind and of one the greatest bands in history, imho. they deserve our sincere consideration.
i just posted & yt fucked it up again. listen theyre boring because the background musicians are in it for the money. get some roots people, you know, who were punk or new wave did some good drugs were there, not hired hands, it's our music. you can't expect outsiders to give it all they got. i said it better before but im pissed off now. Fred & Kate, do yourself a favor and get some old friends on drums & bass.
hey great to see so many B52s fans on youtube. ok...I always preferred Cindy's solo numbers. However, I began to appreciate Kate around Good Stuff etc, and realized that this pick n choosen was completely wrong. They're both great, and so are the B-52s. Let's not forget about Fred. the harmonies between Cindy & Kate are what creates that spark. There's nothing else like it. I pity the fool.
Let's not forget Keith, either. Ricky's spirit lives through Keith, who channels Ricky's unique style; it's as if he travels from "beyond" through Keith's hands and guitar into the amps. Point is, they're all equal parts of a whole when they're working together. It makes them unique in the music industry, even if their body of music is not as large as we may hope. I love everything they've done and hope we get another album out of them before they finally hang up the wigs.
I hope you people aren't judging ther performances based on this horrible recording. And for all you Cindy Wilson bashers. Go back and listen to "Hero Worship" "Give Me Back My Man" "Aint It Ashame"
OMG. I have always loved this group. It's magnificant at best and magical at worst. They ARE brilliant. B52's and REM and Sarah Mcaflan and also Bare Naked Ladies and lets see....oh yes and Cowboy junkies. I only like live music with a good strong beat!
This isn't a good performance. I dunno when it was recorded, but the girls are either pissed off or badly out of practice. I just saw them last night in Birmingham, England and they were both razor-sharp and loving being on stage. Can't choose between the voices. Don't need to. Both amazing, but not on this clip. Used to think Kate was better but found out Cindy sings some of my favourite parts. The girls are still both smokin' hot too.
Well, Kate is spot on, but it's no use as long as Cindy doesn't sing properly. I was a bit skeptic about Cindy before seeing them live in July (in Berlin, Germany), but then in concert she was SO great! Nowadays she's much better than in older recordings!
I do not know about Cindy, but Kate has had voice lessons over the years and she mentions and is quite grateful to her voice instructor who has since died. On the Good Stuff CD, whether you liked the songs or not, Kate had matured with the mastery of her voice with its control, inflection, harmomic growling, etc. and sounded like a turbo rocked up version of Maddy Prior from Steeleye Span occasionally.

Kate and Cindy do have different tones and strengths. The power of the band has always been the harmony Kate and Cindy create while singing together. I heard the band with a replacement Cindy (when she left the group to have her baby). The magic was just not there without Cindy and Kate creating the harmony. I'm glad she's back.
What difference does it make who is better ? They are GREAT in their own GOD GIVEN unigue way........they are all winners in this group. Don't worry about who is better just enjoy what they have created for you to listen to .........got it ?
I love them both dearly, and while Kate is the more consistent (and probably versaitile) if I had to pick I'd say I like Cindy's voice best just for sheer sexiness, emotion and expression.
Vocally, and I mean this with love, FRED is the Paul Lynde. KATE is the Ethel Merman. CINDY is the Janis Joplin. That's why they're so amazing - 3 radically different voices going machine gun on each other. Gorgeous and unique.
i have to agree w/dynamo0 on this one. in my personal opinion, kate def. has the better voice. especially now. i love cindy's voice, she's just very inconsistent. kate's voice is almost always right on. and it's just gotten better over the years. and cindy's, well, hasn't. but that's just my opinion.

@kate28435 Cindy's voice has improved with age, and there aren't many vocalists who you can say that about.

it's also the mix. They need an intimate sound..just like Rock Lobster not an Arena sound. tight and closed with little echo, not surround sound.

they're so adorable.

"Bushfire" should be performed faster as it progresses. It's a great song but could be an amazing live one.

They're both so special together, but I vote for Cindy because she KILLS "Give Me Back My Man." She also says, "Tin roof rusted," which is awesome.

Both Cindy and Kate for me! Variety is the spice of my music life! This band has a ton of charisma with Ricky looking down from above.
