  • This is a delightful and most vivacious Mozart Sinfonia. What makes this artistic piece of concert music outstanding is the violin and viola communication. Both Hahn and Che-Hung Chen are in complete communication with the intent of the music. I have not seen many violin viola performances on U Tube which are as good as this performance.

  • Ah, so beautiful!

  • AHHH does it bug anyone else that he keeps checking his shoulder rest !!!!!

  • @boomer4666 nope just u

  • Ai que delícia dançar ao som deste movimento melódico!

  • Orchestra was great, but not the soloists.

  • by far the best young violinist around my favorite but i cant say yet that she surpassed the veterans like heifetz or pearlman

  • Magnifique,un instant de pure beauté...

  • For some unknown reason I expected a Soprano to begin singing with a powerful opening note at 0:39. But this was a beautiful composition; it was even better because Hilary Hahn played, my favourite violinist. Lovely.

  • one of mozart's great masterpieces...hilary hahn is far out...

  • who is the violist?

  • There's one thing I really noticed in this video. If you watch their faces, it almost seems as if Hilary is looking at the violist and trying to get him to feed off of her enthusiasm, but he almost chooses not to look up from his music and react at all. Perhaps it's my mistake. Just an observation.

  • cool!thanks for uploading

  • 5:39 and so forth...Is it just my ear ....or is it out of tune? because hilary hahn mirrors him in the next couple of measures after it...and that sounds fine..as far as I can tell. and When I hear him....somethings off...

  • ya he played them flat, while hilary's mirroring turn sharp =.="

    anyway it's nice

  • Both the violin and the viola are so brilliant!

  • L'altiste a l'air crispé !

  • pefect, perfect....

  • I wish I was there

  • Very, very nice interpretation. Lovely.

  • this one was perfect

  • oy vei..

  • Is this Che-Hung Chen playing viola??

  • hm, yes yes, and who ru? someone gonna kill me

  • Haha I'm not gonna kill ya...he was my coach for a Brahms quintet I did...he also played with us. He is so incredible! :)

  • so, ur studying at Tempel.

    i knew u won't kill me , someone might...

  • haha yeah I'm at Temple :) Thanks for posting this...it's a real treasure!

  • haha! the conductor is V!

  • The french Horns sections are perfectly in tune. Very nice intonation.

  • i know it's so bad when they aren't thank you guys

  • really nice, very interesting!! when was this? i really love this piece!!

  • 1999 or 2000

  • the violists' moves are funny!!!

  • She's soooo great! Nice performance!

  • Do I see Soovin Kim in the violins? (:

  • sounds very dry in this room. Is it a small one?

  • it is, and might also come from bad camcorder audio.

  • Thanks for uploading this personal account!

  • Thank you so much for this! If you have any more videos of Hilary Hahn, please post them - thanks a bunch!

  • did hilary ever sit concertmistress in curtis ? she talks a lot about being in the back of the seconds for a while, and whenever she plays with orchestras (not as soloist), she generally plays the second part.

  • something interested, the concertmaster is not always ( or usually? HA! ) the best violinist in the orchestra at Curt.

  • yes but that does not answer my question!

  • YES! just like Hilary wasn't even though at age 14 or whatever she was, she could've been!

  • Great play. Thank you for posting!

Where and when was this performance recorded?

  • Mmm...

you might call it "Hilary and Friends at Curtis", and it was in 1999.

  • Who's the violist? He sounds great with Hilary?

  • I think he's Scott Lee

  • no, he is Chen

  • Ok, thanks!
