Crazy orbit, crazy name, crazy people ingesting poison instead of watching it grace our skies. "Never underestimate the power of human stupidity." - Heinlein
I remember living in the country in 1997 outside of a small town in central Florida. This comet was the most beautiful thing I have ever saw in the night sky. It comes around I believe every 2500 years.
@nbaker1229842005 actually the last time was about 4000 years ago, but because it had a close encounter with jupiter( I think) now it's gonna be back in only 2500 years.. who knows how long it will take after that.
Thanks for the comment, speaking of comets, there are many regular comets passing within inner solar system, but unfortuantely none are bright to be seen by naked eyes, but new comets are always dicovered and if any one making close encounter with Earth we know about it and hopefully it wont hit us...
he's lucky he was only 1, it scared the living shit outta me. But Hale Bopp wasn't the only one that came real close either..can't remember the other one but you could see it too. scary as fuck. I was seriously thinkin about bein a caveman after a bit.
Oh dont worry since you are young, you shall see many more events like this, or even surpas it, this universe is full of unexpected wonders we just hope to be nice ones..
"What's NASA's fear re: Planet X Is it re: to Sumeria/Annunaki/something else?
J McCanney: I wouldn't say that, but knowledge that there's a Big Thing that's going to come in on a regular basis is old. That's part of the very high levels of secrecy in a lot of these groups, like the Vatican.
1st thing when Hale-Bopp arrived the Vatican built an observatory in AZ
In 1991 what Harrington saw was 2 things: Hale B & something bigger beyond it - Planet X"
I remember seeing it very well back in 1997. I remember so well and clear as if it was yesterday. It was the most amazing, spookiest and beautiful thing I had ever seen in all my life.
hi colmv123 thanks for the coment i have just checked my planetarium and discovered that Hale Bopp will return back and pass very close to us on (25 / 12 / 4427) at a distance of (0.2557) AU even much closer that its last encounter with earth on April 1997 when it was at a distance of (1.3) AU. but im sure we going to have lots of interesting comets in the years ahead.
Thanks for your reply KurdstanPlanetarium. Would I have another oppurtunity in my life to see another comet? Or is it only a once in a life-time sight??
Comets are 2 types those with short period and regulalr return once in while example Halley's Comet, its those which you have to look for their return as they regular, the other type long period comets swings by Earth once in a life time and they may return in thousands of years or they may disapear for good. those usually are discovered by amateur astronomers and who knows when another one can be discovered, you for example can discover one if you scan the sky with a modest telescope.
hey bushdam, by then we going to have lots of more interesting comets to look for, and if we lucky enough survive as a specie, cause these comets along with meteorites are birngers of dooms to our planet Earth
Used to watch this thing in the night sky back in the day.

@BuggyJumper well it does after about 2500 years from now...but by then we going to have more new comets and hope they passes by without troubling us

Thank you for this video!!
I was so young, though, I can hardly remember when it passed, even if I remember at all. I remember Halley's comet slightly better, though.
Do you know of any bright comets that have recently been discovered, or will be known to pass earth within the next human lifetime? :)
