That's correct. Most of the pictures feature VERY early footage. Many of the worlds featured here are place-holders (like the Radiant Garden Valley...place.) The thorn level was somewhat cut. Instead, Aqua and the Prince fight the dragon on the bridge covered in thorns.

Ironically, I played BbS a few months ago, and Hallow Bastion doesn't look exactly the same :P! Its a close resemblance, so I would make sense that the Hallow Bastion would "change". Everything changes over time, so I guess they had to change the outlook of it too. I must admit... I like the garden in the middle of the town :p

Im pretty sure Birth by sleep takes place before KH2 thats why your playing as Roxas. Just my guess based on the speculations floating around on the net.

In Birth By Sleep you don't play as Roxas at all. You follow the story of Terra, Aqua and Ven (Ven being the one that looks like Roxas). The only upcoming game you play as Roxas is KH: 385/2 Days which follows the time between KH:CoM and KH2 which is Roxas's time in the organization.

Birth by sleep is about the key blade wars(before sora) as far as KH2 show's there is only 6 key blade wielders at the time.

but anyways, the story is ten years before kh1, its very reasonable not to put sora playable during that time period.
