Really? Wow.. ok English PhD, maybe you just don't get the subtle play on word (s) I intended there. Pretty highbrow stuff for B.O.A fans don't you think?
Black Oak is releasing a new album "Memphis Mean Tymes" some time this year. Check out bookerTbooker or their myspace for more info. Seen them play a few weeks ago in Benton AR and Jim Dandy still sounds great and has amazing energy
there's a lot more early black oak arkansas out there with those great double lead guitar solo's. but its like finding hens teeth these days. great video though. thanks a million.
What a cool dude. I got a chance to hang out with him for a few weeks while he was playing the Deli in Norman. Me and my then girlfriend - now wife had blast and JD was a true rock star playing for the people and being totally cool to visit with.
Think of all the weak horrid noise that makes it to the top, and these guy just keep chuggin' along kinda under the radar kicking ass hardcore all these years. I think there are none better. Jim should write a book.
@Bombeni If Gene Simmons had over 5,000, then Jim Dandy must have had that many. I would pay big money to see Jim Dandy and Ruby Starr go at it. I think that the Earth really would move with all THAT energy in play!
@BeauEvil The old rockers are lucky that AIDS wasn't around back then, they'd all be dead. The nemesis of the 70's rock scene wasn't sex it was drugs. Everyone turned on, tuned in and dropped out.

When he actually sings he doesnt have a bad voice, but he is mostly doing that nasal foghorn frog voice that sounds like ozzy gargling with lye or (much later) axl's brownstone voice
I meet Jim Dandy in 1987, he hadn't changed much from this concert...still the wild mountain man doing his thing, and on tour again with new band. But gotta love the 70's tunes.
Truely differant than most southern rock bands.I think Jim Dandy forgot hid tighty whittys.

David Lee Roth is very good, but viewed as a poser in Arkansas. I have seen Black Oak several times and each time, I thought they were great!

now i see where david lee roth ripped off its like marilyn manso an alice cooper

I never tire of watching this video. And to think that rap & hip-hop is popular...I'm speechless.

How did Jim Dandy walk around in life with three legs and never trip and fall and hurt himself?
yomamadontdanz 3 years ago 5
I wore out the live album they did when I was a kid. The one with Dandy's bloody face on the front.
donostacy 3 years ago 2
The photo on the album back was with his bridge removed. In his teen days, someone had knocked out his top front teeth.
