I agree with TheVegile about Romeos weak solo here and he is one of my fav players too...now lets look at who the best guitarists (subjective) are.. listen to ''guitars still suck'' bumblefoot..or ''miles of machines'' jeff loomis and your opinion may sway a little
Michael Romeo is most likely my favourit guitar player (Symphony X is just awesome), but this is one of his weakest guitar Solos ever. The Ayreon Album is such a powerful collection of music and solos...but the one Michael plays here just fails to pull me into the atmosphere as the ohters do. Lori Linstruth is also an awesome guitar player, i really like and that solo rocks - but the one Arjen played in Beneath the waves simply topped them both. So beautiful...wonderful sound.
Argen Lucassen explica que el solo de Michael romeo es virtualmente imposible. y le pregunta ¡¿ que es lo que usas ?? demonios Michael ¡¡ (en la pagina de Ayreon )
Lori Linstruth. <3 One Amazing Lady...But She Could'nt Have Gotten Where She Is Without The Mastermime Arjen Lucassen. Brilliant Performers. And Congratulations To Them Both On There Music History Chapter.
All three are equally brilliant. Three very different ways to achieve the same end. But then again, how could you NOT sound like a god with those songs behind you?
Incredible playing from an incredible album. Everyone on it deserves much respect and admiration.

lucassen to romeo is like vai to satriani...more passion for the former, more techinicality for the latter, and of course they are all icons in their own right. and yes that is the WORST pic of romeo i have ever seen
I disagree about the Vai and Satriani comparison. If anything Vai is the more technical one, and Satch the more passionate, but neither of them is lacking in either department. I agree with your point about Lucassen and Romeo though.
Michael Romeo SMOKES all the other guitar solos on this record (even Arjen said that Romeo's solo on Dawn of A Million Souls made him stop playing guitar for a while!) but Arjen is a master composer and an amazing musician.
Michael Romeo is the tap master.

I don't know what you mean by passion...Playing slower most of the time? Because I think that "passion" they both got it, in a different way.

Sure Romeo is faster than Arjen, but I still say Arjen is better. Something about Arjen's solos that really get to me. They sound so harmonic.

i think Loris is the best out of all 3 but im a die hard romeo fan

Nice to see who plays what on the record. Michael Romeo's solo is definitly the best one.

I wish Lori had a little more spotlight. She has a suiting style, but nearly every Stream of Passion solo is better than this one.

I love all three solo's, all three are virtuoso's on the axe. But all in all, Arjen's own laid-back style appeals more to me. AAL forever.

Lori Linstruth are just an amazing guitar player...
Arjen sounds really nice, but the lori's help is very very nice to do nice solo's on his album ^^

Arjen's own solo is clearly the best, he doesn't need any guest players :)
