  • Hey man would this be the same thing on a 1997 BMW 528i?

  • Turn ignition key ON (without starting engine) for at least

30 seconds. This will clear fault memory and turn off brake

    pad warning light.

  • Pump the breaks wit cap off the master cynlinder or on?

  • thanx

  • This is very clear and concise. I'm gonna take a shot at replacing my own brake pads this weekend (I also have a silver 1998 528i). Thanks for the vid ODell! I will let you know how it goes

  • also, NEVER PUT YOUR LEG OR ANY OTHER BODY PART UNDER THE CAR!! unless you trust your jack with your life and limb (literally).. every since i was young and my dad taught me about cars he would include that in every lesson, he has seen someone loose an arm in by reaching under a car that was up on a jack stand.

  • AWESOME!!!!! i wasnt expecting to find an instructional video for my BMW's make. ohh and AWESOME job on the video! i dont think anybody could have explained it better.

  • Thanks for the writeup! I used it to help me figure out those darn anti-rattle clips--they are a real pain to get on.

  • Thankyou

  • Pump the brakes a few times before moving off just to increase the pressure. Otherwise you won't be able to stop until the fluid runs back down into the line to build pressure.

  • This Clip stops mid sentence. What was the last thing you were going to say about pumping the brake peddle. Thanks heaps for the vid

  • Try buying from bavauto.com next time. They sell oem for BMW only. The sqealing is brake dust. You could alleviate that by using an anti-squeal brake grease before installation.

  • I bought new brake pads from ebay, they were new but since I bought them they squeal really bad, its really loud? what could it be? are they bad quality?

  • Wasn't so sure about replacing the pads when i've read the tutorials online, but now i've seen this video i'll do it myself, thumbs up! gotta love youtube & the uploaders! (well, most of them ;-)

  • You're all welcome.

  • thnx

  • Thank U sir!! I'm doing this job tomorrow. This video was easy to comprehend!

  • No the rim should not touch the rotor hub surface. That would prevent the wheel from spinning freely, also I did not grease the sliding pins. This action would cause them to slip off more easily as they are only held in by th u shaped curve on either end. Only grease the back of the brake pads. Do not let the grease get on the actuka brake pad surface.

  • does the rim touch the rotor hub surface when you put the wheel on? i have the 525i, but the wheel does not touch the hub surface, and it only touches the rotor hub center

did you grease the sliding pins? the factory service manual says not to grease the pins...?
