What one must admire is how d´Angelo updated the song and took it really to another level. Smokey's version's great but for a 21st century's ear the chorus' harmony sounds a bit too much complicated,like they would not know what to do with it and the message just gets lost. D'Angelo smooths things out and that what makes this track his as much as Smokey's.
