@immac636 In theory, they could use a Toshiba laptop as some sort of a remote desktop to some sort of an uber computer. In theory.. ;)
I imagine using that particular laptop, it would take an extra 1000x. 1GB RAM, 1-point-something-GHz dual-core processor and a graphic card that makes the screen blush if you mention it by name.
"From the people from the same country who brought you the best war game to date, 'Battlefield', brings to you a real war map at the palm of your hands..."
The wonderful news is that Apple bought this company. And it seems they're planning to integrate that technology into their maps feature (On iPhone). Which I can't wait for.
I had an idea like this a few years back but the only difference to use existing satellite maps to do the same thing and use it to make a game where you could race on any road that Google had a satellite image of.
@XBLArmory I think there's a top-down zombie-shooter on Playstation Network by some guy who had the same idea. Using satellite maps you don't really get the right height of things. Also, take a top down picture of a building and you don't get any side textures. ;)
But imagine this in a air fight sim or something.. that'd be great!
@trick58 Maybe that it is now declassified and in the works of being implemented in a mobile operating system in the hands of millions of users? Think dude. It's not the technology of 3D mapping, it's that it's now available and that there are possibilities for its use that weren't here 10 years ago.
Uma grande empresa que se foi! ;/

Of course if they actually are using a toshiba laptop, it will take an extra 10x the time.
