made a square 20 inch sub awhile ago..real redneck..3/8 plywood for the piston. designing a new one..fiberglass cone, frame diameter 24". found a real decent thing to use as a surround..inner tubes from car or semi tires. not much else works well.
well i started from a flat sheet of hardboard. then i cut specific elements like 3 rings, 3 circles and 4 ribs. i calculated them as accurate as possible so they assemble into a 3D object i.e. the basket. the magnet is immobile relative to the basket, only the cone isn't (i'll upload a new video with pics soon). the coil is easily made - you need an appropriate sized cylinder, wrap it with paper, varnish the paper, then wind the wire varnishing every layer. when dry, remove the cylinder, etc.
