hey bobbyslayer -hang in there man.i worked the iron for over 35 years-retired now,and it's great.yeah,my knees are shot, and my back doesn't bend like it should anymore, but i've still got all my fingers.good thing too, cause i'm still rockin out on my les paul and marshalls at 55.this song is one i played over 25 years ago,and it's still appropriate today.the blue collar man is what everyone else rides upon the back of.too bad,but that's our society for ya-guess we shoulda stayed in school, huh?
Awesome. This is what great American music should be. Now it's all about being a charity case and demanding others to pay your way as if it's your right.
More than a great song. If you are a man that gets up at different times throughout the year, driving to another job site from year to year. Doing your best to make a good life for your family. You can relate to this song. These guys are from Chicago, so their dads probably lived it. How else could they have nailed the bluecollar lifestyle so perfectly? "Paradise, can it be all I heard it was....I close my eyes, and maybe I'm already there".
@rainmanx63 , i hear that im an iron worker, in northeast ohio, coming out of the worst year of my life and work is all i got, but no one really appreciates what the construction world does for them and they look at you like trash when you go into a gas station or store because you dont got time to go home and clean up... im driving 85 miles 1 way right now to work in the freezing cold wet lake earie area so the people of lorain can have a wallmart to bitch about..... Its the Blue collar blues
@bobbyslayer26 I know what you mean, but I'm glad to here you're working. It's funny though how everyone wants to look like a construction worker or a biker today. Wearing Carharts and workboots on the weekends and then going to the office on Monday morning. If they only knew how painfull it is to pick up a piece of rebar or pipe on a cold morning and then working through the pain and putting in the hours. It aint easy man. Hope you have a good year.
