  • Hey! Will ASUS M4A88TD-M mobo open (hopefully) the cores? I mean it can open cores?

  • @SovietRussia10 i have the M4A87TD, and it unlocked mine just fine and i can run it at 4.0GHz at the stock voltage

  • Can i unlock the 2 extra cores with Motherboard -Asus m4a78lt-m le ?

  • @oTERIMKC Ofcourse. Just make sure to upgrade your bios upgrade.

  • Since you have no vid yet for 560 BE I thought to say cause of this vid was encouraged to skip phenom ii x4 and go for 560 and I was able to unlock and OC all 4 cores to 3.6 stable with 51-54 max temp load ty again :)

  • to which proccesor from the Intel side does this AMD proccesor can be compared at?

im upgrading my PC because i want to start doing some casual gaming and this proccesor is cheap and sounds powerful to my wishes...

  • @OdyseusGamingHD If you were using Intel processors , and you wish to switch to AMD processors , then you would need to replace all of your components , since Intel motherboards don't support AMD CPUs

  • well i unlocked the cpu with my asus board with 4 active cores @ 3.5Ghz, but i have a little problem well not much a problem, when i use a temp monitor software(coretemp), the software wont detect the temps correctly, like the avg, min, max, etc, how can i fix this

  • @TheSlayerIsBack Yeah, I had the same issue. I ended up using ASUS' software that came with my motherboard, as nothing else would recognize the temperature.

  • @Sandrockcstm which one??

  • @TheSlayerIsBack It's called "AI Suite."

  • @TheSlayerIsBack It's called "AI Suite."

  • Would I get this CPU to try to unlock? Would and did! Great CPU either way, love it. Kept my gaming rig under $500, and it's a doozy.

  • can anyone tell me if this is a good setup for casual gaming?

    Mobo- biostar a880g+ am3

gpu- gigabyte gv r6450 radeon hd 6450 1gb 64 bit

    memory- G.skill ripjaws 8gb ddr3

cpu- amd phenom ii x2 555 be

    Thanks :)

  • @LilCheeseBomb Lol, i have a phenom II X2 555 be, with an Asus HD6450 (512) + 4Gb RAM...

My processor unlocked only 1 additional core. so far i have no complaints about it. but i would say that you should definetly get a better video card. the hd 6450 is good for hd video and some light or older games, but very slow for the heavier games like GTA IV or Dirt 3.

  • @LilCheeseBomb i would go for a better graphics card, maybe a 6600 and up

  • is this good for gaming??

  • @levimustdie11 I can play Starcraft 2 on ultra settings, getting between 30 and 60 fps if that helps you at all (Radeon HD 5770 and 4 GB or RAM as well).

  • Hey Dude, I need some help here.I tried in many ways to overlock the 4 cores. Nevertheless I always the same result that "Enabling Unleashing mode has faield". So far I tried to change the Vcore volt from 1.325 to 1.450, it does not help at all... I also tried to unlock only 3 cores but eventually it ends as a non-start of the computer I tried all the combinations I had: Cores 0,1,2 or Cores 0,1,3) If you think you have perharps an indication or a clue to solve my problem, your help is welcome

  • Help do it works with my Motherboard?

    Foxconn A76ML-K 3.0

  • No luck with unlocking mine, but it does overclock nicely. 3.8G at stock voltage, 4.0+ at 1.4v.

  • I'm deciding on getting this but idk if my motherboard will be able to handle the watt usage. Can anyone clarify if this motherboard will run it Manufacturer: Asus

    Motherboard Name: M2N68-LA

  • I guess i'll be buying this for now, and wait til the better Bulldozer cpus arrive earlier next year. Great bargain if you can unlock the other 2 cores

  • So my processor will run at 0.875 degrees on the core or 1.40 degrees? Good job PCWhizkid, you are really doing great with this...

  • hey can u help me when i use cpu-z my core speed is 802 mhz most of thetime

  • @ranjit4197 try going to start and type power options and then click high performance

  • @ranjit4197 Your CPU uses something similar to Intel's Speedstep technology. I believe it is called AMD Cool&Quite. Unless you are taxing the processor and running something really demanding, your CPU frequency will be reduced to save power and run cooler. Try running Prime 95 and see what happens then. Feel free to message me if you have any other issues.

  • can i play fifa 11 using this processor? i have GT 220. thanks

  • Shit i unlocked it and i get a 30- 38 C on the stock cooler

    nice video :)

  • how to unlock core Phenom II X2 555 Black Edition in asus m2n68 am plus motherboard

  • Which Is Better Intel Core 2 Duo 2.93 GHZ Or Amd Phenom II X2 555 BE 3.2 GHZ ??

  • @Themidozable10

According to Anandtech, the C2D is slightly, and I mean slightly, better then the x2. However, I don't think they compare it Overclocked, or unlocked.

  • @xShark795 One More Thing .... To Unlock My X2 I Need To Update My Bios

What Happens If I Downloaded The Wrong Update because I Dont Know my Rev. + Is There Another Way To Know The Rev. ( Other Than Opening The Computer )

  • @Themidozable10

Try downloading a program called Speccy. It gives you the specifications of your computer. I think if you switch over to the Motherboard tab, it will give you the revision as the Version

  • @xShark795 No It Didnt :'(

It Gave Me Every Thing Except The Revision

I Searched For My Mother Board And I Only Found The 3.1 Rev. Model But I Wanted To By Sure

+Please Tell Me What Happens If I Downloaded The Bios For Another Motherboard

  • @Themidozable10

I'm not very sure what would happen if you got the wrong revision. In all honesty, I'd rather just open up my computer and look for it. Rather be safe then sorry bro.

  • is phenom ii x2 555 can handle gta4 at high settings?

  • @TheEquivalentXchange my temp at idle was around 35-38 with 4 intake fans and one Exhaust, and at load it was around 58-64 never hit 70 that's just the unlocked cores at 3.5 I didn't even try pushing it any farther with that hit sink, safe bets to spend the $30 and pick up the hyper 212 that thing is plenty

  • man i have this processor and before switching to the x4 970 it ran great with a M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 board, at like 3.5 or 3.7 with stock heat sink and voltage, great cpu =)

  • @RancidScorpion what were your temps when running it on 3..7 cuz I want to know what temp would be safe considering I'm only using the stock cooler

  • ASUS M4N68T V2 its passible? Unlock 2 or 1 core ???

  • can you unlock the other 2 cores using a ASUS Asus M4A78LT-M LX??

  • @genobreakerGT Search ASUS's Website, It should say Core Unlocker, if so then your good to go :)

  • @EvilGamerJ hmm... i use a M4A78LT-M Asus wesite says nothing about core unlocking, but it work just fine

  • Excuse me, can you answer me this ? I've this cpu and a Cooler Corsair A70

, can I overclock it the same like you ? quadcore 3.6 ghz ?

Oh one more thing, why do you increase the voltage ? I've never increased it so I don't know if it's usefull or not.

Someone answer me please and thank you.

  • I am using an Intel CPU,I have 185 dollars to spend,I need this card and an AMD motherboard for that price. I'm gonna unlock the quad cores once I buy this card. Or I can just spend 195.99 on Biostar A880GU3 AMD 880G Socket AM3 Motherboard with the CPU,here are my specs right now Geforce GT 220,Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 2.9GHz,4GB RAM I am buying this to run GTA IV at Max Settings,I'm 13 and will just pay off the ammount of money I owe for the package. Nice videos by the way.

  • This cpu pwns :D

  • TO ANYONE who thinks their 555be is only 2 cores go back into bios, enable core unlock, select manual core, disable ALL the cores and try to boot to windows.

IF YOU CAN BOOT your 2nd core is faulty and you should test out cores 3 and 4. If you can boot to windows they should be OK. test with prime95 to make sure.

My stock unlock settings were 3.2ghz @ 1.356v

I am currently running my 555be with cores 1,3,4 enabled @ 4.01ghz (1.38v) stable in prime 95 for 12 hours max temp 50C

    good luck!

  • can someone tell me what voltage needs to be done when youtry to unlock 2 more cores?

  • Comment removed

  • What temperatures would I be seeing If I unlocked the two other cores with the stock cooler, but didnt overclock?

  • cpu-z says its a AM2+ LOL

  • Thanks for the info! Can't wait to unlock the other two cores as soon as i ditch the stock cooling for a better one.

  • Im running this chip on an Asrock 770 extreme 3 motherboard, and its overclocked to 4Ghz at 1.4v, BUT, both Core Temp and speed fan show core temperatures under 100% load on prime 95 to max at 32 degrees C... Umm help? It seems waaaaayyyy too low because even at idle with the same OC the temps are 22-24 degrees C...

Whats going on, and how can I sort it?!

    Thanks!

  • Hey, guys. i recently bought a BE555 But i can't unlock it :o i dunno if it's my MOBO...

    THE RIG:

Mobo: MSI 770-c45(BIOS version: 1.4 < might be the problem)

    RAM: 4x2 1600Ghz Crucial

CPU: AMD Phenom ii x2 555

    Graphics card: Amd 6950 2gb(unflashed)

    OS: Windows 7

If anyone would like to reply any answer about this i would be really glad to hear it! :o

  • @wowaccpass You sure ur cpu has the extra cores, Or even has UCC??

Some of the cpu's dont actually have the extra cores so might just be unlucky i guess m8

  • @devilzzzzzzzzzz I know about the core stabillity problems and such... But i believe my MOBO didn't really support ACC even if it did(The BIOS might be a bit bugged) but i changed to a 890GX mobo. Hopefully it'll work :) besides it CAN start when i put the settings to "Auto" on ACC and Firewire: normal, BUT if i put it @ special it hangs @startup. Gonna solve this.

  • @wowaccpass It hangs on startup? By any chance have you overclocked the CPU as well? If so tryLowering the over clock because i overclocked my sempron to 4ghz and unlocked the second core but it keeped hanging left the overclock at 3.6ghz and it stopped hanging

  • @devilzzzzzzzzzz Oh, okey, i'll test that as soon as i get my 890GX.

  • @wowaccpass Lol okai m8 lemme know how it goes

  • @devilzzzzzzzzzz Well, I believe it's broken. But since i can't choose Core by core to unlock it's impossible to say if it's entirly broken...

  • @wowaccpass You believe the extra 2 cores are broken? Well if you have been able to unlock the extra 2 cores, try fiddleing with the cpu voltage, if that doesnt workt hen the 2 cores were deactivted on your processor because it was unstable, Unlucky fell :/

  • @devilzzzzzzzzzz I've tried everything now, even increasing the Core Voltage to 1.5 which is not good at all. And when i tried to boot up with my new MOBO it just made a "Boot Failure" where it says it's some problem with the overclocking which was at default (3.2Ghz in my case) But i overclocked it to 3.8Ghz and running stable on 1.475 coreVolt :)

  • @wowaccpass Ah thats good then :D You get the other 2 cores unlocked?

  • @devilzzzzzzzzzz No, and i'm so sad about it i'm gonna buy a phenom ii x4 950. abit over 150$

  • @wowaccpass Ah sucks :/ Ah well least you getting a quad core still xD

The core's u tryed to unlock musta been actually faulty lol

  • @devilzzzzzzzzzz Yeah, i believe they musta've been unstable since it actually Starts but it doesn't not load "Starting Windows" and i don't wanna increase the CoreVolts either since i've done that already and i kinda hurt the proccessor since it's got soundcracks and the entire computer got messed up.

    Quad here i come :)

  • @wowaccpass Ah right yeah unstable cores my first sempron 140 did that xD work fine with the second one i bought got it overclocked to 3.6ghz witht he second core unlocked and it runs fine now and i put the voltage up to 1.4V :P

  • i have a phenom II x2 and my mobo is a GA 880GMA-UD2H 2.2

how do i unlock the other cores using this mobo? please help...i need help please

  • i unlock all 4 core and OC to 4ghz with 1.4V stable

  • If you guys use Gigabyte motherboard most of time you can't unlock it. You have better chance to unlock it with AMD. (I had this problem...)

  • what software can be used to overclock the x2 555 be?

  • can u unlock it to 4 cores with the stock cpu fan thats provided

  • can i unlock it with an AsRock N68-S3 UCC ? and can you recommend a good cooler

  • @paopaoluga102 I Don't know if you can unlock with the AsRock N68-SC UCC, But a good cooler is a CoolerMaster V6 or a Corsair H70 (Watercooler) With Dual Fan System

  • @noobehvc tnx for the recommendation.. oh and the asrock n68-sc ucc can unlock the 2 cores .. i just asked about it recently from asrock..

  • It's pitty that cores for this one can be only unlocked on serveral BIOS not all :(

  • @Zircon4Productions Depends on your Motherboard.

  • @Zircon4Productions I just bought a random Asus motherboard which blatantly advertised "unlock cores" on the box cover.

  • well first of all i finally got my system up and running, second i managed to overclock my 555 BE to 3.75GHz on all 4 cores with fking stock cooling runs at about 50C on full load bout 67 but it shuts at 70C if it reaches it cause i told my bios to but i am gonna get a more buff heatsink soon enuf

  • @Shenu2009taher there is no bottle necking there

  • can't you just lower the voltage a bit and save on heat or does unlocking all 4 cores bump the voltage to 4+ by default?

  • Does unlocking to X4 shorten the life span of this CPU?

  • @babaroondog123456 Probably not if its cooled sufficiently, i have a unlocked Phenom II X2 550 unlocked to a quad @3.6ghz and 1.5Vcore. I use the extreme Schyte Mugen 2 cooler and i never goes beyond 44C in full load. It´s a nice bargain if you manage to unlock/overclock it :).

  • are all AMD Phenom II x2 555 processors able to be unlocked? i have one i bought the other day off newegg but they had it for a while cause it has 2008 on the processor and it came i n a small box plz get back to me saying it does lol thx!

  • Asus M4A78LT-M LE

Will unlocking work fine with this?

  • @pr0duc1ion yesii

  • Plese help me out if I do this my processor can not break?

  • @msigt740 lol no way but my quest is will it bottleneck that card stock?

  • if this is unlocked and overclocked to 3.8GHz will there be any bottlenecking with a gtx 460 1gb?

  • @msigt740 nope

  • I need a phenom x2 Black edition!

  • i have Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3. can i unlock this CPU to x4 ??? is this safe with stock cooler ?

  • @AUDIOSLAWE dont even try it, the stock cooler isnt gonna do much, with me i switched over to a corsair a70 air cooler, i overclocked my cpu to 3.8ghz. Overclocking+stock cooling= fail

  • hey WizKid, I unlock my Phenom II 560 to a Phenom II B60, but now pictures look pixelated, different colors, ect. do u have any clue what this could be caused by? I'm using Stock cooling.... Please let me know as soon as possible.....

  • @UltimaOmegaX317 Man that means that either one or both of the unlocked cores are having problems with your video card, so try to run it at 3 cores or just use it las a dual core.

  • can i run this cpu on msi k9n v3 mobo?

  • the best choice for a (easy 4core with asus M4A87TD/USB3) CPU less than 100eur.

  • I love this CPU!!

  • @jasoncape Yeah, I understand that you are from Germany? I am German, Russian, Scott Irish, and Native American. So when I say this I am speaking of the British and English and etc... Most of the European individuals, on YouTube jock Americans for most anything that was actually designed and engineered here in the states. So when it comes to language, they have no concept. Also, I am very annoyed with children under the age of 16 trying to post anything technical on YouTube. Always a fail!

  • @BlackOutAngel1313 Same here. I'm also annoyed with kids thinking they know everything, like what you said "children" under 16 shouldn't post techie videos on youtube that seems inaccurate and inappropriate.

  • @jasoncape Yes, and it is usually just something that they watched a video on how to do, and pulled a copycat. Even if they are very informational and intelligent, I find it rather hard to take a child seriously. I've learned most of what I have by trial and error. We all started from somewhere, but damn... When it comes to computer builds, no matter it's intended use, I hate seeing children bragging and trying to downsize people for a system their parents paid for...

  • @BlackOutAngel1313 Kids tend to brag a lot. It's natural.

when a kid receives a new toy he'll boast it to other kids. Just like what you see here on youtube.

Just don't mind those little devils even if they're getting on your nerves. :p They're still young, and would probably learn things like the way you did.

  • @jasoncape I'm 18 and I was never that way. Then again I was never spoiled, and worked for everything I have to this day... I sought out the education and am basically self-taught with a little bit of guidance from reading forums/books, watching some videos here and there that were stumbled upon, and just trial and error as I've said before. I hope that kind of fad is just a phase though (the bragging and such, as well the children trying to play a position beyond their age.

  • does someone know what's my problem.. So, i'm trying to unlock cores from the processor (555 be) but i haven't got any success yet.. i have turned advanced clock calibration to auto, and set unleashing mode on but always my problem is, when i try to boot, it says ''Unleashing mode failed'' and i can't boot. i have asus m4a77t motherboard. please let me know if you know something and sorry for my bad english. ~~

  • @GiTzzzzz Not all of them are guaranteed to have 4 working cores.Mine only has 3 usable cores, and one thats flaky so I can't really use it. I've only used any unlocking features on the one cpu so I don't know about any failures etc. but you might just have one with only 2 good cores. Hopefully someone else who's done a bit more can add their advice too.

At the very least these seem to overclock very well. I have mine running at x3 at 3.9Ghz, so you can probably still get a nice speed.

  • @Castor235 thanks for your reply! Yes , i've noticed that many ppl get only 3 cores running.. My friend has the same processor too, and he has x3 wiith default settings which is nice.. I will keep trying to get atleast one core more, any help will be good. :)

  • @GiTzzzzz Are there any options to manually set the cores? If so you could try enabling one at a time, or if not maybe see if you could test your cpu in your friends motherboard and see if it's unlockable in that one if he has had success with his own chip.

  • Is this good for gaming? :)

  • @Owful0 Yep, but not the best one :p

  • @Owful0 Yep, even better if your motherboard supports unlocking additional 2 cores, then it owns!

  • why are american kids allergic to pronouncing phenom properly?

    its fen-om, not fee-nom

  • @bassmad299 I'm American, and I pronounce Phenom the same as I do Venom. The dictionary has it as "phe-nom" for pronunciation. For you it would actually be "fen-um". By the way, why do idiots always use improper sentence structuring?

  • Can you tell me what kind of theme you are using ? I like your cursor so much :)

    Thx in advice !

  • theme*

  • Can you tell me what kind of windows u use 7 32 or 64 bit and what there ur using to got that cool cursor from 1:09 to 2:09 =D !

  • i have the same CPU push it on air at 4.3 GHz can't unlock don't care about that very nice and thank you

  • Can you unlock any of the x2 555's and turn them into a quad core ? What are the chances that I'd get a non-unlockable one and what would cause it not to unlock , besides the motherboard/PSU ?

  • @cLick1333 surprisingy quite rare. Alot of the enthusiast community beleive that AMD purposely make the cores unlockable so that more people by the lower range of cpus. I have this cpu and it unlocked, so did my brothers, and my 2 other friends, one had a 550 and one had a 545 and they still unlocked with no bottlenecks!

  • @KEYBOARDWARRIOR786 That's great news , thanks for replying.

  • @cLick1333 if you have a good motherboard you can unlock the other 2 cores

  • what video converter where you using?

  • @Bomb1525 mediashow expresso, hope i helped!!

  • Great Reviews but could you please tell us the temperature with the stock cooler?

  • nice video dude

  • excellent vid!

  • you bullshit

  • great video, sorry for my noobish question but I used coretemp to check the core temperature and as soon as I unlock this cpu, the cpretemp program does not work correctly no more. It still recognize my cpu as x4 but it said all core temp. are 0 celcius hahahaha... how can I fix this problem? is there a different program that I can use to monitor my unlock 555? thank you so much

  • @PoaAngel Its not that its a problem but once you unlock all 4 cores you lose the feature of checking ur temp that way..... Depending on your motherboard you can still possibly check your temps..... If you were to tell us all which motherboard you have maybe we can figure out if you can still check that...

  • @TheAMDOverclocker I am using gigabyte 870 evo, i can check temp suing mother board, what I am hoping is a program that will allow me to monitor the temp while I am in window or something

  • I heard unlocking the two remaining cores could make the CPU unstable. Have you seen any signs of instability with the two remaining cores unlocked?

  • @catguyauble I personally believe a lot of factors come into that such as heat - voltage - other components - batch of cpu - an of course BIOS settings would be the biggest things...

  • HELP ME some one. how do i overclock ? please help me!

  • pm me your motherboard model and i will help

  • unlocked all 4 cores and overclocked to 4x3600 mhz . Running 30 minutes prime95 test. All ok . Using Coolit eco alc watercooling kit.No problems .Great cpu :)

  • It does not multiplies in 6.4,only in 3.2 Ghz default...

  • a little quistion here,

if this is a dual core you will have 2 processors at 3,2 GHz so together it will make 6,4 GHz right??

  • @q1CHICKEN1p yes

  • @q1CHICKEN1p no, it's not like that.

  • @jasoncape

    so what is it then?

  • @q1CHICKEN1

No,you see,if you unclock remainig two cores,it will be faster in some programs, however, the default speed is 3.2Ghz,it supports good overclocking(the title says it all)

But,you'll need more expensive and quality cooler(Corsair,Schyte,thermaltake..)

  • @q1CHICKEN1p It's like having 2 pizza delivery cars rather then one. They do different things at the same time, letting you do twice as much. But it's different having one that drives twice as fast.

  • could you use the standard cooler when ulocking the remaining 2 cores? at standard clock?

  • @5468295 Yes you can. Using the cooler that came from it I unlocked the 4 cores, and also overclock 3 cores to 3.4GHz and 1 core all the way to 3.6GHz.

  • @dudedxrox all right ty

  • @5468295 Update. I got all 4 cores up to 4GHz on stock cooling :)

  • @dudedxrox how to do it pleaze help me

  • @adelwwe74 I am doing a tutorial video. Should be done by tomorow night.

  • Comment removed

  • could you use the standard cooler when ulocking the remaining 2 cores?

  • Thanks For information

  • Im gonna get this processor and try to unlock, if it fails ill just overclock it to 4 ghz and voila. Better than my pentium DC anyways :P

  • What to say,i'm impressed!

I think i'm gonna buy it very soon!

Thanks again for video,it helped me to decide.

  • MSI 785-E53 AMD785 ddr3/HD4200

    Phenom II X2 555 (3.2G) 7mb black ed.

    Kingston 2GB 1333 ddr x 2

    1.0TB Seagate Barracuda SATA.

works fine with dual core and really good performance if unlocked to quad core...

  • i have this CPU and its AWESOME

  • I got mine unlocked too

  • My corsair H50 with my X4 B55 @ 3.8. I idle about 25C and load approximately 40C.

  • can you unlock the cores on a phenom II 545?

  • @schwazemoto depends on your mainboard

  • i have that cpu and i have unlocked it and overclocked too. AND I REALLY NEED BETTER COOLER :DDD

  • I've seen a lot of people give bad reviews because they couldnt unlock cores.

Just because you have the ability to unlock cores, it wont mean all the cores WILL unlock.

Not all chips are the same. It's luck of the draw. Although there is a lot of luck with the C3 Revision of the Phenom II x2 555 You'll get a 3 out of 5 chance.

  • can i unlock the 4 cores with MSI 785-E53 AMD785 motherboard?

  • @crismytube Look at motherboard specs, and If the South Bridge is the 710 or 750 chipset then yes(SB710 or SB750). Also, if a motherboard supports Advanced Clock Calibration(ACC) function, then yes you could. Typically SB710/SB750 chipsets support the ACC function. But its not only dependent on the motherboard, its all in the CPU. Not all Phenom II X2 Black Editions will unlock.

  • @DiDolRuChagi thanks a lot for the information, happy new year!!!

  • when you unlock the 2 cores, how do you check the temp on the cpu?

  • awesome! but my motherboard can't unlock to quad core. :( need change new motherboard. :(

  • NewEgg sells these for $90 & from what I see in the reviews most of them will unlock into a 3 or 4 core. Also being a Black Edition the multiplier is unlocked, making it very easy to overclock.

  • @Alexandrius90 This dual core was built on a quad core 955 chip with 2 cores disabled.

With a m/b that has ACC (Advanced Clock Calibration) in the bios set-up, you can unlock

    the extra cores. I have a Gigabyte MA785GM-US2H m/b.(costs about $70) . I unlocked a

single core Sempron 140 2.7 Ghz (cost $35) into a dual core Athlon ll x2, o/c to 3.3 Ghz on

stock air. Now for Christmas, Santa is going to bring me one of these little beauties.

    Great review PCWizKid
