Both games are setup to dialogue the sex that the player decides. Even in the transition it will throw you a curve ball and have Carth speak as though he was Revan's lover. And sometimes Bastila will be in that role. Revan is not a definitive person. Revan and that character in its entirety (basically, the character before player influence) do not matter. The story before the player has zero to do with the sex of Revan. Long story short; Revan is the best character to ever be in Star Wars.

there are many storys in the time of kotor II about Revan. but the right thin is, that he went away into the outer rim. Not as a light or dark side warrior. Maybe it was the hope of Kreya that he is by the dark side.

And when BioWare said that Revan was male, I suppose they meant by "The BioWare's Revan is Male".
