I listened to Podgorolich recording as you asked. No offense intended. Life's too short. You are right. He is a superb technician, and he got the B an C segments ironed out well. But his A section sounded like sitting in a truck having heavy springs moving slowly over a washboard road. Lumpy. His recording gave opportunity for days of splicing retakes. Avdeeva had one shot at it, and she played all the repeats ! Talk about living dangerously !

One of the very TOP 2 or 3 performances I've ever heard of this Scherzo (Horowitz being among them). The sound she commands from the piano is flamboyand and BIG. She has the requisite techniqe for a blistering, masterful handling of the A theme material, and secondary voicing is even more prolific and 'pertinent' than Horo. Beautiful shaping in the B theme.

This is a very delicate interpretation. It's good to see that she makes it clear yet not every part stands out at the same time.

I have listened to so many version of this piece for various pianists. I found that Avdeeva's and Blechacz's are the finest.
