I knw Julie from her days perfroming opne mics at Austin comedy clubs in the early 90's. I quit the business in the mid 90's and promptly fell out of the loop.
I'm so sorry to see here that she's passed on... far to young.
thanks for getting back to me. i'm not much of a "searcher" but if i find out anything i'll get back to you and i'll monitor this site through you tube for your discoveries. namaste, spinner

Im sorry you had to find out about Julie through the internet, but I know how you feel. Julie and I had lost touch, when I was trying to track her down through the internet I came across an article in an online jazz magazine regarding her passing. They gave no specific information as to the cause of her death, but only mentioned she died in her home town and where she had been teaching music. Ive yet to have any success finding out what actually happened to her. Sorry for your loss.
Thank you for posting this. There's way too little about Julie Burrell online. I wish I knew more about her, that someone would write up her story. I used to hear her music on the radio in Austin and her first CD has long been a favorite. I don't know of any place to buy that one anymore, but I just got her second CD, Juliejazz, from Waterloo Records in Austin (they're online). It's well worth getting if you liked the first one (the one used in the video). There's a bit of R&B at the end!
Just occurred to me that I should have made it clear my comments about the CDs are directed to others who are looking for Julie Burrell online, but not to you, ajk--I'm sure you've had yours for a long time!
I hope they're still playing her on the radio in Austin. Thanks again.
i saw julie sing on 6th street in the 80s ... such a great voice and stage presence and a delightful sense of humor ... i would grin with the way she thanked the audience - "thankyavermuch" ... head shaved on one side, she gave such a great show, her voice came out of her heart ... she was probably the only austin performer i made a point of going to see ... we exchanged a few words one night when i thanked her as i was leaving ... thank you julie, for a great show.
