The Lennon Sisters in this Lawrence Welk episode represents an era of high standards, values and respect for one another. God help us now, with all the junk on TV today for our kids to emulate....what a shame for todays children!! Parents have to be so vigilant, and protect their children from the inappropriate, 'junk in -junk out' of today's media!
This looks like a Lawrence Welk episode. Very nicely done. I enjoyed that. Thanks for the memories. Although the memories of the show I never saw this performance until today. I guess I am after this production.
LadODell The Brown's version does appear from time to time on YouTube. Just look around on the tube once and awhile, your endeavors will be rewarded to the person with the most patience. Good luck from 70bonnie 3/5/09
Rose, you must have been with Janet in second grade then, in 1954. Yes, I had Sister Mary Assumpta and I also had Sister Assumpta Marie (aka "SAM"). Those were a long, long time ago. Janet was one year ahead of me. I had Sister Agatha Rose in first grade. Did not have Sister Miriam Christopher. Fred
I know Peggy was one year ahead of me--It must not have been Janet I went to school with because in 1954 I was in 6th grade. Maybe it was Kathy who was behind me.
Sister Mary Assumpta used to threaten us with demerits--which scared the stuffing out of me even though I had no clue what a demerit was.
I really loved the hot chocolate and pastry we were served after singing for early mass though.
Rose, Janet would have been in 2nd or 3rd grade in 1954. Kathy would have been a few years ahead of her, and then Peggy a year ahead of you and Diane a few years ahead of her. Oh well, yes, the nuns were intimidating. My twin brother and I used to get pulled out of class by Monsineur North and Monsineur Wade to serve funerals as alter boys all the way til 8th grade.
I remember Monseigner North when he was Father North.
Remember, how quickly we all rose when he walked in the classroom? To this day, when I see a priest on the street, I feel like I should chant, "Good morning, Father," in that sing-song little-girl voice.

Just close your eyes, relax and remember when times were so good. Very beautiful voices and I love the background scenery as would have been.

I so miss this show. So sad that we don't have anything like this on today! The music, sets and costumes are so wonderful.

Nice version by the Lennon Sisters. The Browns version is still the best.

I'm like you. This is a beautiful rendition, but you can't beat The Browns. Wish
someone would find a cut of it and
share with all of us.

It was a nice surprise to see the Lennon Sisters. I went to St. Mark school with Peggie and Janet in Venice, California.

And I would imagine Kathy also as she was there at the same time...

Venicegrrl, what year did you graduate from St. Mark? I finished 8th grade in 1961. My family was good friends with theirs. Fred Benenati

Fred,
You're much younger than I. I left St. Mark in 1954 to enter Mark Twain Jr. High school for 7th through 9th grade.
Did you ever have Sr. Mary Assumpta or Sr Miriam Christopher?
