  • very good video.Thanks.

  • I've got a theory on the vulture eating the dead. This city had a history of violence towards their ancestors when they weren't yet in this city. Hebrews 11:38 could easily be applied to them.

I wrote a story on the mystery of Catal Huyuk & I just want to say that I appreciate the questions that you asked in your video as it points out we are unsure on meanings, history, & that it's a mystery.

What do you think of my theory? I made 17 videos relative to Catal Huyuk. It's my story.

  • @ReligionOfSacrifice It seems that neolithic turks were neuter matriarchal or patriarchal...both sexes were equal... however members of their society who were revered or important were beheaded after death... we're unsure why... but it was generally always those buried with trappings of importance.

The image then of the bird feeding from the headless body is probably representative of what they thought happened to dead as a reward. They were absorbed by nature? transformed into a bird?

  • @MumblingMickey, thanks for the comments. Although I agree that a picture could represent images about a strange religion, it is also possible that the pictures represent something relative to the history of their ancestors.

Has anyone figured out how such a large population and civilization ended abruptly?

  • @ReligionOfSacrifice all civilizations come to an end the same way...and the same happened with this city...

All cities need resources. In fact a city is formed for the sole purpose of dealing with the excess resources produced by farming, trade or technology. If a city has sufficient 'extra' resources' than it can always barter these against the ones it lacks..As it turns out the resources Catal hoyuk had simply went away... ie. the marsh dried up! And that was that!

  • Is it possible that Catalhoyuk was a place of animal sacrifice while they hid in the marsh to avoid civilized nations that desired to bury them?

Say like the growing Summerian empire?

  • Thank you very much for this documentary. Hearing Tarkan at the end was a nice surprise. :)
