  • I had this... they did surgery, and then I ended up getting hernia.. and it went away on its own. The surgery was successful obviously because I am here today.

And I am a female, the youngest of 4 kids, I am 17.

  • I had this as a kid, second and last of my family. I now have a scar around a 3 inch scar on my stomach above my belly button. Obviously I don't remember the surgery, but it definitely saved my life.

  • My uncle (mom's brother) had it. My oldest brother (first born) and myself (female) had it. My other two brothers did not. My oldest brother has a daughter and she does not have it, but I wonder if she's now a carrier. I'm probably a carrier myself but I'm not having kids. (Not because of pyloric stenosis... I just don't want kids.) It's interesting that the surgery can be done laproscopically now. The scar on my stomach (from 41 years ago) is like 5 inches long.

  • I Had this and i am a girl. Second of my family and the last. I have a scar about...6 to 7 inches long. I am so lucky to be here.

  • My son had it, he had his op aged 5 weeks, it took a lot of hospital trips and drs appts before anyone would listen to me, i was told it was colic and then i was told it was reflux, i knew deep down it was none of these, once we were told he had it withen 72 hours it was corrected, he is now a healthy seven year old, have to say though his scar is about 7 inchs long and seems to be growing with him!x

  • I had pyloric stenosis and I'm a girl , I was the last out of four kids in my family and the only kid to get it. My dad had it and he was the last kid out of 7 kids and he had 4 older brothers who never got it and 2 older sisters who never got it , im only a teenager but my scar is about 3 inches long.

  • i was the 2nd born in my family but the 1st guy and i had it. my scars not that small. maybe an inch or so.

  • laso i was the first born male, and im caucasian which means i was the most likely out of most humans to get it and the nurse said i was fine cus all babys vomit .

  • I had this my mum said i vomited like 4 metres and i still have a badass scar which is annoying because now I have a small hernia where the weak spot of the scar is =(

  • I had this when I was first born.

all the doctors said I was fine, but my mum just kept going back utilll they took realized something was wrong.

I had the operation when I was a month? old.

I was the 2nd child of my mum and I'm a girl so it was highly unlikely for me to get it,

I'm now 15 and still have a scar on my stomach.

  • Yea, my son has this. It's theoretically caused by the drastic change of environment and diet caused by modern day mass migrations. It is especially prevalent in northern European first born males of mothers between ages 18-22 with a bloodtype B or O whose last 3 months of pregnancy were stressful and who gave birth in the third quarter of the year.

  • Im 17 now had it as a baby. I have a 2.5 inch scar about an inch above my belly buttion on the right hand side of my stomach. The scar is veryyyy noticable. Its all good everyone thinks I got stabbed =]

  • @craig12475 We have the same scar :)

  • my scar is really deep. I'm 57 and it wasn't diagnosed until I was nearly dead, well the story goes that I would throw my bottles out of the cot AND puke up the wall and ceiling so my mum's story that I was 10 months old makes sense but paying for it now, my body has a starvation memory and stores everything very hard to control weight

  • lol I had this... my mom said my puke went 10 feet, haha. I wish i could remember that

  • omg im on a mil. base they wouldnt believe nothin was wrong with my kid until i scaremed in the hospital im not leaving until you fix him and i let him puke on the floor-- what will my babys scar look like

  • Yeah, I had Pyloric Stenosis when I was 2 weeks old. Not that big of a scar, maybe 2 and a half inches? Good video :)

  • And the baby will never have the chance of having perfect abs when he grows up.

  • Yes, I have about a 3'' scar from the surgery. I body build.. the left side of my abs are perfectly fine but my right side is very tight and has two 1/2 large ab muscles vs 4 smaller more defined on the other. Oh well, I just say it was a from a knife fight.. =P

  • lol, I always tell people I got tabbed, which is technicaly true... do you find doing situps harder to do because of how the muscles aren't developed normal?

  • No, the muscles are all still there. They just reposition themselves. I can still do sit ups just fine. Abdominal muscles are very resilient. You can work them out 5-7 days a week if done properly.

  • Yeah... that's one thing that I've had to realize won't ever happen for me. On top of that, I have gained a little weight (25, used to be average weight of 150-160, now around 180) and since there is no fatty tissue where the scar is, it becomes even more noticeable. If I gain more weight, there will be one awkward jelly roll at the top of my stomach! hahah.

  • Dido, I had it now I have a scar.

  • I had pyloric stenosis when i was 2 weeks old... i have like a 3 inch scar on my stomach...

    im now 11

  • In britain it can be done via a laparoscopy, which is a small incision in the belly button and the lower abdomen so scarring is minimal xx

  • My son developed this condition at 13 days old. He had the pyloromyotomy at 20 days old. It was hard to diagnose, ultrasound came back normal but was finally revealed with a barium swallow. He is now 7 weeks and doing great!! His scars are barely noticeable now.

  • i am a 26 year old female and i had pyloric stenosis and the scar is huge

  • how huge? mine is 7 cm or 3 inch.

  • Amen. I heard my parents say that the docs said it would be a tiny scar. Yeah... no. It's like the whole right half of my stomach and any fat tissue above or below just makes a crease with the scar, making it look as if it goes all the way to my side hahaha. Oh well - it beats the hell out of death.

  • My son has pyloric stenosis..

He will have the surgery today at 8:00 a.m.

    (19th of August, 2008)

He used to vomit (6-8) times a day, he is now 37 days old and his weight is still the same as hish birth weight (3.2 kg)

  • im at the hospitol in sioux city Iowa right now and my baby bo (john paul) is undergoing surgery in the morning.i am so pleased to see such a descriptive video about all i need to know about pylo.stnsis. i feel like i too am already talking like an md.

  • my youngest had it. he has an inch scar which is barely noticable 9 year later

  • i had this as a baby too, im 13 now, i have a 5 in. scar on my stomach still

  • note that he said todays surgeons...
