  • ZOOM ZOOM BOOM!!!

  • so slow.. my lancer shits on that

  • bit late with the parachute

  • Needs "air" brakes.

  • this car actually needed an oversized wing u see on ricers

  • @djresche87 and others:

At Bonneville, there are many different classes. Some allow after market spoilers that meet the rules of that class. This car was running in a production class that doesn't allow anything but a stock spoiler. This car came from japan to race at Bonneville.

  • when it takes off, if u listen closely it sounds like its fartin

  • See! the parachute works!!! :D

  • must be nice to be alive after that

  • bonneville

  • ZOOM ZOOM

  • Hopefully the driver was okay!

Beyond that, pity to see this happen to such a cool little car.

  • Cool car? fuck you.

  • jaja apesar del choque el motor nunca se apago :S que buena calidad

  • lucky he released the parachute lol

  • GOOD

  • damn i wonder how fat v12s are

  • good thats all that car is worth for anyway getting destroyed

  • The INTERNET, the jet ski, the first space telescope. I know there is more. The list goes on. All things that changed the world. All American. I know alot of people won't like that comment, but rather than give it a thumbs down, I want to hear people try to refute it.

  • Revolver - German (Hans Stolper) Radio - Disputed. Probably Tesla AC - Dutchman (See submarine.) atomic bomb - Collaboration. A German's idea. Artificial heart - USA laser - USA Cell phone - USA Videogame - USA Computer - Germany (Zuse Z3) Jet ski - Japan (Kawasaki) Telescope - Galileo Internet - USA
  • Regardless I stand by my statement that whoever says the US didn't help mold modern society is bias and in denial. No offense to Japan or Germany...or their cars for that matter

  • @Zando24 I think our definitions of "invent" might differ. Just to straighten things up, when I say something was invented, I mean the first one made, not patented by the US patent system after making a second (third, etc) one hundreds of years later by a different person. If i patent the wheel today, I don't think I can be credited with the invention, which is what happened to most of the items you're referring to.

  • Actually the internet was a Belgian's idea.

  • No, you've got it backwards. It takes a 4 cylinder with forced induction to even compete with a v8. Name one naturally aspirated 4 cylinder car that can beat an American v8, or even better, name a naturally aspirated 4 cylinder car that can compete with a supercharged v8. Extraordinary claims call for extraordinary evidence. Let's hear some. Plus, most muscle cars can beat a damn corolla around the track, I'll give you that something like a Skyline will handle better, sure.

  • @Zando24

Brazilian Stock Cars run with big fat American V8 5.0 liter engines, around 450hp. Argentinean TC2000 cars run with naturally aspirated 4 cylinder 2.0 liter engines, doing around 330hp.

Both do almost the same lap time in Interlagos circuit.

  • rice, mmmmmm. there was an rx7 for sale in eugene a month ago for $2000, and it still ran.

  • y the fuk did he deploy the parachute

  • y the "fuk" not??

  • id b so pissed bet that cars worth sum rate munie :P

  • thats the best way it could've happened tho. at least it didn't roll.

  • Yea I agree, there is no way he would of survived if it would of rolled.. his roll cage would of went to shit! Looked like one hell of a ride :D

  • the new flying mazda! find it at a dealer near u!! lol

  • how is tht a ricer it probably will go faster than any american car big props to yhe jappenese

  • So which American engine is winning Formula 1? When is the last time an American chassis won F1? Which major American car executive famously said that Japanese car makers were irrelevant? Which country has a population that owns the most gas guzzling vehicles on this planet? Which countries car makes are going down the drain?

  • The Bonneville Rx7 still to this day the fastest 7.

  • that ricer need's a wing lmao.

  • The RX7's engine is derived from a design patented by Wankel in Germany. Mazda was licenced to use this design. . You people who rant about "ricers" are biggoted shit heads who know fuck all about much at all. Much of your daily life is made possible by products or components made in South East Asia. Almost every device in your home such as, cell phone, food processor, mp3 player , television, Playstation, Xbox, Wii, Nintendo, stereo, modem, GPS, printer, fax etc SE Asia dominates. Get over it.

  • I am no nationalist. I have a great respect for Japan, Japanese culture, and Tuners. I'm not biased like most. Yet you make it sound as though Japan invented everything. America invented most things that other countries now mass produce. America invented, the mass-produced car, the air plane, the space shuttle, the stove, the refridgerator, the submarine, photo film, the revolver, the radio, AC, photo film, the atomic bomb, artificial hearts, lasers, the CELL PHONE, the VIDEOGAME, the COMPUTER

  • @Zando24:

Car - Invented by a chinese man. The next one was made by a frenchman. I'm omitting the "mass-produced" bit because mass-producing something is hardly inventing it.

Aeroplane - Englishman (Wright brothers built a larger version and sat themselves in it.)

    Space shuttle - USA

    Stove - Frenchman

    refrigerator - Scot

Submarine - A Dutchman working for the King of England (The US did invent the NUCLEAR submarine, however.)

    Photo film - USA

    See next post.

  • Car in general- Not chinese, French. First gasoline car...German. First efficient car, USA

    First SPACE telescope- USA, Hubble

Airplane- Still the Wright brothers, though some would argue a German.

    Fridge- USA, Oliver Evans.

    Military Submarine- USA

Personal Computer- Modern Computer, USA. Any computer, you're right

    Jet Ski- USA, Clayton Jacobson

Manhattan Project- USA with UK input. Ideas don't matter apparently

Stove- Not a basic fire stove, USA, Benjamin Frankin

    Revolver- Depends

  • Sorry but where are you getting this lot from?

First car - Ferdinand Verbiest, 1672 (In China but he wasn't from China).

Space telescope - Hans Lipperhey, 1608 - used by Galileo.

Aeroplane - The Wright brothers - first sucessful flight 1903.

Fridge - William Cullen, Scotland, mid 1700's - Oliver Evans replaced the liquid with gas but didn't change the process.

Military submarine (active) - USA CSS Hunley 1864.

Computer - England, Charles Babbage, 1822.

  • Electronic/digital computer - The Collosus Mark I 1943, England.

Modern computer - Germany, Konrad Zuse, 1941.

Desktop/personal computer - USA, 1974 Micro Instrumentation Telemetry Systems (MITS).

Jetski - Japan, Kawasaki, 1973. Full production from 1976.

Manhattan project - USA sometime around 1939 - hardly something to be proud of.

Stove (basic fire) - France, 1490 (Iron fire) Germany, around 1890, (furnace) Franklin, USA (kerosene) Wilhelm Lindquist, (gas) James sharp, Britain, 1826,

  • (electric) - Carpenter Electric Heating Manufacturing Co. 1891.

  • Google and History books. It is always up for debate when discussing who or what country "invented" something, as you yourself have shown. First of all, Galileo didn't invent the Space Telescope, NASA did with Hubble. You reiterated alot of what I said, about the submarine, airplane, stove..but all I said is that Ford made the first mass produced car, the first "real" car is up for debate. I didn't say the US invented everything, but whoever said that the US did nothing is just dead ass wrong

  • @fisher1034 I'm not a big import fan, but I'll give this car props. A ricer is a japanese pos that only looks like it could go fast, but can't. This car can actually haul ass and has a great innovative engine design.

  • Superdeluxe94 chargers were not the first cars to break 200mph it was a superbird

  • @ Superdeluxe94

I thought the Dodge Charger Daytona was the first to break 200. 217 Actually...

  • driver walked away and then the car caught on fire.

  • I guess that's what they call a true "crash test". I hope the driver is alright.

  • lol. From what I understand, the shape of the RX-7 acts like a wing at 200 MPH+ and this is the result. Can someone confirm or deny this?

  • nice

  • a little late on the parachute

  • wooow

  • did he died?

  • LOL uhh if he was able to pull the chute at the time he did, he didnt die

  • aye, thats what well built roll cages are for

  • You can't "DIED".

  • lets all hope the roll cage saved the day...

  • amen die u fuckin foreign ass ricer car. take ur fwd ass and take that perfect handling back to japan. america is for american cars.

  • Maybe you should grow up a little and learn your cars, that's an RX7, and is rear wheel drive, not front. It's also superior in many ways to the "American" cars you're referring to. Unless they're modified, then they can go fast in a straight line, kinda. The American companies are only now thinking about how to make a whole car, instead of a drag racer like they used to. they're 2 or 3 decades behind the rest of the world.

  • no i don't care what this car is, and this car is modified alot. a stock one of these can't beat a stock dodge challenger in a drag race. drift racing is for whimps. and with american cars, ur trading a little bit of handling for immense torque power and speed. and a 426 HEMI powered car can whoop this thang. u need to learn. i hate foreign cars.

  • While I can understand if you are a drag racer, I don't think you fully understand how much you are giving up in terms of handling. I love the new Challenger, but the only thing it can beat an RX7 in is straight line accel. And only with a decent driver in it - if I were in the RX7 I'd give any Challenger a run for it's money, and if you miss a shift you're done. Regardless of car, I appreciate displays of skilled driving. Just remember, the RX7 is over 13 years old, and it still competes.

  • im talkin about the 1970 hemi challenger. that is the original 426 HEMI. that had over 600 bhp. that had like 600 ft/lbs as well. and i know for a fact rotary engines have very low torque, so its not gonna be that good out of the turns. that 1970 challenger is over 39 years old, and it competes forever

  • and this video shows that this car doesn't really have that great handling either. maybe since american cars are heavier, they wouldn't take off like a paper airplane at top speed.

  • You need to look into aerodynamics more. The '70 Cuda can't even begin to approach these speeds with major bodywork, and all that power and torque is only good for going straight. As for the torque of the rotaries, they make great torque, buy the carry it a lot further than other engines - they breathe well at really high rpm's, which makes GREAT power. HP = torque x RPM/5252, and the rotary can rev to about 9,000 to 11,000, so... But wherever you heard rotaries don't make good torque was wrong.

  • and the 1970 plymouth superbird was capable of 220 mph, in its racing trim, just as this one is in its racing trim. EAT IT

  • it can the chargers were the first cr to break 200 mph in nascar and the cuda is on the same platform and thats b4 they put the aero nose on it

  • TheCuda is not on the same platform you fucking idiot. Look it up.

  • Oh and about the power of the 426, if you didn't have it built, it didn't make 600 hp, or even close. Modded, yes, but not stock. It took blueprinting to get that kind of power.

  • sorry the 426 did make 600 hp. it was rated 425 by factory, but they drastically underate everything since insurance and legal stuff. and no with that engine it really doesn't take blue printing until ur up over 900-1000 hp. and this car might be able to go 217, but a cuda or chevelle or BOSS 351 mustang would still beat this in a drag race.

  • ocasionally it made alil under 500 if you got a factory freak the tq was way up there on some but 600 is not true at all the 68 426 charger is my fav car of all time and to say it has 600 ur overrating it dramatically

  • @JudgeSteelflax the rx7 is a rwd car you dumbass.

  • @kipstermudd I don't care at least we got another ricer POS off the streets

  • @JudgeSteelflax

Yeah the amazing thing is the "ricers" that you yanks have running around your streets like FOOLS dont have the cash nor the expertise to build a 217mph rx7..

and obviously you yanks know shit about downforce? Do i see the STOCK spoiler attempting to handle 200+mph LMAO.... What a shame to ruin a perfectly AMAZING car by lack of care and attention...

  • well, fuckhead, asia sure puts together some good aerodynamics to get that thing to go airborne. Now, what would happen if i hit that pos with my 1972 ford f250?

  • @JudgeSteelflax I imagine it'd depend on the relative velocities of the RX7 and the Ford, the amount of structural modification done to the RX7, and perhaps the number of days since the pickup's driver has had his mullet washed. Those things can be pret-ty tough in a collision - they're all business up front.

  • @dejamester You've got a strong point sir. I don't have a mullet though, but i'm confident my truck would destroy that POS.

  • @djresche87 i will bet you any amount of money, be it my currency or yours, that if you could actually research this thing you'd find it was built by someone of asian decent. with that being said why dont you bring all your cash and infinate wisdom to the states and run something down bonneville. after you get done with that watch some of the american made cars that have been running bonneville ford decades then tell me we dont have cash or experience

  • @bigbadbronco86 and mate they would have used a proper spoiler if it was a jap prepared race car.

  • @djresche87 it was alot more then just aa spoiler, that car wasnt neaarly low enough either, but my point is dont act like every american thaat runs down bonneville flips there car over.

  • @djresche87 also what has the united kingdom ever contributed to the car world? i mean i guess the jaguar is ok except for that its about as reliable as a crackhead telling you he is gonna pay you back. name five legendary race tracks in the uk without googling. and i dont mean legends to the uk i mean international legends. besides that name me 5 respectable uk car companies that make a car thats capable of running 220mph on the flats.

  • @bigbadbronco86

When did i mention British cars? They are all wank explaining why i have owned jap performance cars all my driving life? Tool

  • @djresche87 i figured someone like yourself coulndt back up the shit statements you were making, everyone on here calls the other person a tool or starts correcting grammar mistakes when they dont have anything better. you got my point i believe..o p.s. how maany of your jap cars have ever hit 200+ mph? just as i thought, not a single one

  • @djresche87 one last thing 'mate' if memory serves me even top gear did an entire show on just how unreliable and poorly contructed a certain english car maker was. the fact if most of what is in england is american german or japanese, and there arent too many of them there being built for 200+ mph and i'd venture a guess that none of them are capable of 300+ mph. auto racing was founded here and we will always do it best. im not here for a petty internet fight either, but these are valid points

  • @bigbadbronco86

You really have got confused somewhere along the line...

  • @djresche87 i really expected a more intelligent convorsation from you man, the mullet joke was both clever and entertaining, you let me down ol boy. dont judge americans off one video and dont assume you know more then anyone else, because there is always someone out there with more knowledge then you

  • Have you finished whining now?

  • @djresche87 lol yeah sure whatever, thank you for proving your brain capacity

  • yay one less stupid import car blackening the roads!!!!

  • Good roll cage.

  • best thing for a rx7

  • lmao omfg

  • haha love it. i love how he upside down and still on the gas, hmm, and then hes grinding along the ground on his roof and hes like hmm, im gonna deploy my parachute.

  • The RPM increase one hears likely happened when the rear wheels first broke traction. The camera is a long way from the car so there is a substantial delay before the sound reaches the camera.

BTW, the driver was fine. Safety requirements to run Bonneville are very strict.

  • chute deployed a little late, but its hard to do it when your upside down

  • You could buff that out.

  • They just about did. The car got fixed and went on to reset the record for their class. :)

  • gives you an idea of the kind of updraft that takes place at that speed; hard to keep the wheels down!

  • It was most likely the rear diffuser working in reverse while traveling backwards. That set it on a cushion of air and once you get a small angle of attack on a flat bottomed car the entire care acts as a wing. Spins are not uncommon at bonneville.

  • Quite right so when the spin happened the thing that helped keep it down actually lifted it up. I have heard there is a physical limit in how fast a car can go from the point where the drive wheels just don't grip any more. This is stuff is really great because it pushes the physics to the limit; some day I would like to make the pilgrimage to Bonneville.

  • LOL a little too late for that chute

  • luckey the parachute deployed lol

  • lol

  • Imagine filling out the insurance claim on that!

  • He tryed to drift! stupid man

  • that guy was trying to drift.

  • that guy needs a wheelie bar!

  • That gy needs a lower insurance rate.

  • that could've ended alot worse tho

  • fail

  • haha

  • pfft rotary... boo

  • Fly Pelican !

  • i think he likes the person who build his rollcage!

  • a roll bar would have sufficed.

  • If that was 217 i'm Wavy Gravy.

  • hi Wavy Gravy

  • Rx-7's so fast and light not even gravity can keep them down Rotary FTW!

  • too fast for the camera.

  • OMG did the person inside survive?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!??!

  • To all the fags that think the rotary engine is slow, just remember that conventional engines had over a 30 year head start. Rotaries are catching up so quick its not funny. Show me a 1.3l that can run a 7 second 1/4 mile that aint a rotary!

  • thank you for being wise and telling the true nature of rotary. although a hayabusa will do a 7 properly built, but it is a bike so i guess it doesnt count...

  • Yeah bikes vs cars arnt compareable. I own a 1000cc bike which would own my rx, but yeah different ballpark. For the record, rotaries are into 6 second 1/4s now :) Yeeeeeha.

To the guy asking if the driver died, he did not. No serious injuries sustained which is a testament to the standard of the fabrication and saftey gear these days. Notice the engine is still humming away too... lol.

  • need to work on the aerodynamics/downforce

  • Good job the car went onto its roof and slid..!

Could have been nasty had it flipped or tummbled.

  • oooo must have been one crazy ride!!

  • u damn ricers and ur lame 4 bangers. get a real motor.

  • its a rotary engine bell end, no conventional cylinders. u damm yanks, grow some brains.

  • rx7 is not a fucking 4 banger you mouth breathing fucktard

  • how about this? 450MPH http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UqO6msKE4G4

  • the rx7 is a damn honda killer man. it can beat anything. people eventhought it had nitrous but all it had was twin turbo which is in all rx7's i think. if you still aren't convinced then here

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IK5QsylpH1M&search=rx-7

  • not the rx7 that destroys all domestics! oh wait, domestics are pieces of crap which HONDAS even eat for breakfast.

  • that was at Bonneville... 217MPH is pretty tame for the Salt Flats. I hate to break it to you, but every land speed record is held by an American made car, so check yourself, rice-boy.

  • ooooooooOOOO man heel owned you what do u have to say bout that

  • i doubt it. im sure he had a full cage and helmet, and you notice that the car might have fallen to pieces, but the drivers compartment was pretty much intact.

  • did he die?

  • brakes dont work so well when none of your 4 tires are on the ground.

  • o shit no brakes!!!!!!!!! dont they need front spoiler for down force?

  • poor rx7

  • nice lol

  • nice
