Great spanner man he was. One of the natural talents, a true Yamaha techo, as like Geramy Bergas, Erve Kanemoto, Wilf Needham, and others i've jusv totally forgotten from that error.
I own an RG500 (just sold an RZ500), and man, those two stroke are never ending, the tool box is always open, and your always tweakin the friggin thing,
@dwsnare i own an 85' RG500 Gamma, it was passed down to me when my father passed away, here is at a VJMC (Vintage Japanses Motorcycle Club) show a couple of years ago.
G'day Adam, just had a look at the RG, she's a nice unit mate. Mine needs a litte bit of a tidy up, so it's not as nice as yours, but i still love kickin it over and smellin the fumes, lolol.
I'lle get a spray gun to it sooner or later, then sell it, im a bit over two strokes, but have to say, a "four cylinder" two stroke is just - somethin else .
What a shame this era will never be bettered. Some of the sights are hilarious; straw bales standin on end (?), cameramen on the track-side, and a beautiful trail of blue smoke behind each bike. God, I can still smell it!
This is from the daze when bike racers were 'bikers' through an through ~ bring it back!

The hight period of Katayama's career has been eaten by NR500.
NR500 was incomplete. Therefore, NR500 was not able often to participate in GP.
At that time, Katayama rided Suzuki as a private rider.
