Speaking of Sonic 4, what do you think of it?

@FauxKeegan I am simultaneously in love with it and in hate with it. It is everything I missed about classic Sonic with the addition of some features (like the homing jump) of the newer games. But I totally hate, too. But only because I am actually STUCK in a level.

@amixia annnnddd 5 days later response. I completely agree. I miss the speed of the older games, as well as the sublime controls. The new ones are kinda... sticky. However I like the homing attack jumpy dashy thing. Also the final boss is horrible... if that is the level you are stuck on, if not, you'll only hate the game more after that BS.

@WitchOfTheBlossom I can't sing opera but I can do classical singing. I don't mention my favorite band because I get mocked endlessly for it. ;; I have never played/seen/etc anything involving Vocaloid except for character art. It's a karaoke game, isn't it?

Being that you're a fellow Sonic geek, I feel that this question is a necessity: What are your thoughts on the Sonic franchise since the change brought on by the Dreamcast era? And if you feel that since forcing a game that never previously had a storyline to have an "complex" storyline, what would you have done, had you the power, to keep the same general feel of the earlier Genesis games intact?

@Pheldra I actually LOVED the Dreamcast SA games. I think dding a deeper story made me love the series even more. But I also think the original Sonic series DID have a complex story. I mean, I remember being a little kid and crying my eyes out because THEY FUCKING KILLED KNUCKLES. (Of course they didn't really but that's not the point.) Sonic 3 and S&K did the most they could with the games at the time to tell stories. I think the Dreamcast just gave them an easier way to get the story told.

@amixia The Dreamcast games I felt did follow the same sort of formula that the Genesis games had. Robotnik's up to something, and Sonic goes about trying to thwart him. Each character having their own storyline that all intersected at one point or another really did help to flesh out the game more than just, "Run through a stage, beat the end boss and move on." It's what happened afterwards where they just started adding tons of new characters and gimmicks that the series kind of went to hell.

What would you suggest to someone trying to learn how to play guitar and is having a rough time just learning what cords are?

@wakkotheclown Find a song you know and like that has simple chords (things like A, D and E or variants of them) and practice practice practice. I think it took me about two months to fully master my first song (playing and singing) so don't get discouraged if it takes a while. Start with the easy stuff and work your way up to the more complex songs. It took me about six months before I could play a barre chord and use it in a song without pausing to make sure my hands were in the right place.

@pete275 The Sonic Adventure series on the Dreamcast was amazing. It went downhill once they started making games on the PS2 (Sonic Heroes, Shadow the Hedgehog). Sonic 4 is back to the side-scrolling 2D and is the sequel to the Genesis games.

@dunklefester My natural hair color is really dark dark brown. As for favorite band/artist I think it depends on my mood. My usual default favorite band is something that loses me street cred as a music geek on a regular basis as most people remember them for a terrible pop song that's over ten years old at this point.

Anyway, here's a life lesson (since I"m such a winner who does NOT get drunk to forget his problems, lack of vengeance, and suicide notes he may or may not have been referenced in,) just threaten people and hope they never call you on. It works like a charm if you're willing to do some mental gymnastics.

Also: because I have this sick feeling this is one of those things that'll bit me in the ass later: I have never been the cause of a suicide.
