  • @wagner59270 do u ever allow people to travel to your place to check out ur ranch?

  • its not pleased to start hehe dosent it has glowplugs or cold start button?

  • @Meek1978 nope nocold start aids on this one

  • Cold starts can be a drag in the winter when you live in the upper mid west. I live in southeast South Dakota and a real cold January morning always bring on wondering if it will start or not. You don't give up, got to give you credit tor that. Batteries are better today than they use to be but that is no guarantee it will start. NE Montana gives batteries all the more challenge.

  • thanks

  • what year is it

  • 1975

  • What model is that old tractor? I like its idle, it sounds great. My papa in Tuscaloosa has an old 1950's model, still plowing!

  • it is a JD 2240, runs a 3 cylinder diesel

  • @wagner59270 wow it hought it would be a 4

  • Now that was a dang surenough cold start!

  • The shift pattern is similar to the old Military 5 tons with 5 speed Standard Trans. (model 813). Its like a 6 speed in them except the shift pattern goes R-1-2-3-5-4 (If you'd shift like a 6 speed in a car.)

  • Its a good thing that is electric start and not pull start..haha

  • ha ha I know right

  • Rather intresting and well edited, nice one. What a wonderful life you have. What is the differenc between summer and winter fuel?

  • thank you for the compliment, the only difference between summer and winter diesel is some additives that will help the diesel burn easier and keep it from gelling as easily, diesel has a tendency to gel which creates a waxy buildup in filters and lines that keeps the fuel from pumping

  • I am cold I am not sarting today madey in the spring

  • hafta get another rain cap on that exhaust.. dont need snow or rain gettin in there lol

  • yeah I do dont I

  • hows the brown cow???

  • lol still sitting where it got parked when I brought it home

  • on that red pickup, if it uses the AOD transmission i can definitely help you out with the slip or lag problem. i know all about it

  • oh no not the AOD ugh... no thank god this ones got a C6

  • Hello Wayne

I am curious about that yellow triple cord. What was its purpose? Was it the power feed of the start-up booster or does your JD 2240 have an engine block header? By the way, great video.

  • I was using it to run both the booster and the block heater in this case

  • Thanks man, for letting me know

  • @wagner59270 That girl needs a new injection pump and a new battery. Will you take it on film, when you are about to do so? I love this tractor, so handy and reliable.

  • good thing its not an AOD. those are so shitty and weak.

  • no kidding definitely not well suited to a pickup that needs to work even if only occasionally

  • damn wayne this vids from beginning of january, how long does it take you to edit vids?

  • I meant to say february LOL

  • Hey man, Wayne is doing two jobs worth of stuff round the farm as well as a day job too. Let him have a bit of slack :-)))

  • U need glo plugs everything will fire right up lest my Deere dose with the year I've owned it never failed

  • Are those the forks off the 4230 or does the 2240 have a set as well?

  • nope the 2240 has its own set

  • dont you put additive in the fuel

  • i did put a little in there but I still isnt going to make up for 10 gal of #2 gelling up on me LOL

  • true

  • I filled the rest of the tank with #1 after I got it started... getting tired of fighting with it

  • my was starting his 430 diesel john deere and the glow plugs stopped working so we put a turbo heater on it for a while but before he started it he sprayed starter fliud in then it strated and boom poped a ring shit

  • wayne in all your tractor videos there is no glowplugs on them,we get them standard over here in ireland where its not cold at all! would they not be standard over there wih you where they are really needed? great vid 5 stars

  • you would sure think so but apparently the tractor manufacturers dont

  • u should get some winter fuel in there wayne

take care of her and she'll take care of u

  • sweet

  • hey i had the same problem with my massy so we just hooked the grater box on there and put a big log accrost it and tow straped it on there works good.

  • If you have a fork you could weigh down the back with another bale.

  • Way would it help if you filled the tank the rest of the way with with winter fuel? Or are not suposed to mix the two? i am clueless on that subject lol.

  • thats exactly what i did after i got it started

  • nice man lol these old tractors are somethin else sometimes

  • thats just dandy....like the videos keep them coming!!

  • you could always build your self a weight box for the back of the 2240 so you can keep some traction while your moving bales.

  • When's the Brown Cow's engine going to be put into the rotation? I'm very curious to see what went flooey in it. Hopefully little damage was done.

  • Nice cold start on the 2240. 5*

  • Well Wayne; I guess it had to figure that something was up w either the battery charger itself or the cord(s), etc.; and it had to figure as well that once u re-set the breaker on the end of that cord that it it started "juice" flowing to the battery again and all it took was a few cranks and BAM!!!!...it fired right up....gotta like that especially w no glow plug(s) or either injection ports, etc on that one..:)

  • could u do some walkarounds of all yr bikes and quads sometime?

  • yup sometime this spring or summer ill get to that

  • Are you tires filled with whatever that new stuff is? Can't remember, it's made from beet sugar and is environmentally much better to use than calcium chloride solution. Plus it wont' rot the wheels if the tube leaks.

  • nope we have the old chloride in these

  • i should record some 2130 john deere cold starts for you wahne, you would probaly like them

  • you shoulda hit that bad boy with some ether!!!!

  • ugh I try not to do that with this tractor

  • whys that?

  • tis bad for it!

  • yeah ether isnt good to use in engines unless its really really nessessary.
