@hoppie182 agreed. he chuckled when he went down. i had a slow lowside like this. people gathered around i stood up and bowed. lol. his attitude was like " shit happens, life goes on" RIP sven
This reminds me of my first black-ice experience: Riding a Yamaha SR early in the morning (+3 Celsius) on a straight and paved road around 40 km/h when suddenly my rear-wheel looses grip and I find myself sliding on my side 5 meters down the road. Only things that took damage were the clutch-handle, shifter and a deck of cards in my pocket. Besides them there were no damage to me or the bike what so ever.
I like how you laugh BEFORE you say Ow...like you're so amazed the pain hadn't even registered yet, lol. I like your videos -pretty cool idea. You're a little reckless though, ha!
again nice i lik ehow your in full riding gear, and know how to crash its funny cause some people dont know how to crash and look like flailing fish out of water
I miss trailbike riding(had a CRM250) cos like someone else said, when these things happen you can kinda laugh about it as thats what they're built for. Do that on my current Suzuki SV thats only 1 1/2months old and it'll be a different story!
If you loss traction on your front wheel it will brake right or left by that i mean where the tyre meets the ground will move left or right not forward or backwards which will then crank your handle bars left or right there's nothing you can do about it, its not fake, and im pretty shore hes not wanting to down it on a public road with bikes behind him.
@svengalie I'm just asking what made your handlebars kick right like that? I could understand if you hit the throttle and the back end came out but it just didn't seem like you tried to keep the bike up at all.
Riders that haven't rode too long (I have since age 4..) don't exactly understand all of the different factors that can come into play when it comes to laying a bike down man. No worries, I've had simpler crashes on dry pavement, be it a blown front tire thrown into the fork trees and turning and stickin my bars to the side, or a sudden rear flat sliding the rear end out. Hell I've took a Slight turn too hard on Very dry grass and slid sideways about 50 feet atleast, saved the bike
@shades2k5 Its because the front wheel looses traction completly. It happens almost by itself. I've lost traction on ice on my bicycle once when I was little and same thing happened. (Not a perfect comparision but they are both two wheeled vehicles)
@shades2k5 i have done exaclty the same once on my bike, once you hit black ice there is nothing you can do and the first thing to lose grip is your front wheel, soon as it looses grip your front wheel is going to slide and turn one way. mine also when to the left when it happened to me.
@shades2k5 have you ever riden a bike normally and then come across ice that you cant see ? you have no time to prepare yourself you jsut think your riding normaly so :)
@shades2k5 Yeah i reckon you are right he seems to turn the bars left hand down just before he slides and turns into the skid, looks very suspect to me. If the back end let go and came up the right side you would automatically go right hand down and turn into it not away from it so if you do lay it down you are hopefully chasing the bike & not the bike chasing you down the road. Turning away from it just means you will high side or end up doing a 180 and copping the bike in the back or worse.
@MrYonomequejo He comes out of a curve and hes still turning a bit, he hits an icy spot (wich you can clearly see on the vid)...+ he knobby tires... So it's kind off obvious he slided like that. I want to see you riding a dirtbike on ice, let's see who's going to do it on purpose...
@shades2k5 you are not too smart, when your front goes you cant do nothing and when you are falling the stereing wheel will always go to the side you are falling, go and crash yourself, you will se!
nice one mate...hope your alright.....and to all you idiots talking about how he sucks, or how he crashes a lot and is stupid to ride on pavement...FUCK YOU....he obviously rides his bike a shit ton and to only have a couple crashes out of the probably hundreds of thousands of hours he's probably ridden is pretty damn good in my book. Being someone who recently learned to ride a dirt bike...I FELL A LOT..its part of riding...and he obviously is adventurous and doesn't always take the easy routes
Can't wait for the ad when you go to sell the KTM. "Never Been Dropped, one careful lady owner" Good video mate, If I had a ktm instead of an SV i'd be out in the ice everday too!
I tried riding on a 2" thick 1/4 mile long sheet of ice earlier this year. I only fell off twice, I was quite pleased with that result. I knew it was all ice, its not nice to come round a corner and be greeted with a big lump unexpectedly by the look of it!
@buukro the amount of moronic things you say in this comment are to much to handle...first of all europeans dont use pounds...only the british do, so at least say silly british if your going to be an ass...and kilometers? man your stupid.
@svengalie Unfortunately I'm in the East Midlands. There are shed loads do Derbyshire way, but getting into one requires too many secret handshakes lol.

Dropped mine a few weeks ago in similar fashion, few stitches and some TCut have fixed us both up. Its amazing how, even with the use of video, its still so hard to see just where it all goes wrong enough to drop a bike. I'm still not totally sure what caused mine. good luck, stay safe

This guy lays his bike down. You can see him crank the handlebars and intentionally slide the bike. And thats like 25MPH, not 40.

@shades2k5 sure, and the guy behind me as well. We both love intentionally breaking our bikes....the blatant ice has /nothing/ to do with it.

shades2k5 8 months ago
@shades2k5 I've been accused of this before. But it happens, it happens on ice to many bikers ESPECIALLY on knobbly tyres.
Hell it even happens to professional riders going in a straight line on a merely damp circuit:

Dropped mine a few weeks ago in similar fashion, few stitches and some TCut have fixed us both up. Its amazing how, even with the use of video, its still so hard to see just where it all goes wrong enough to drop a bike. I'm still not totally sure what caused mine. good luck, stay safe
