Great video these were 2 Pacific Enterprise tractors and 2 Scammell Contractors tractors and i think there an extra pair of Diamond Reo tractors plus two more mukltiaxled huge trailers. Correct me if im wrong people.
my old boy ran with day night towing in western australia in the late 60's and 70's the only merc in the fleet, 1200000 km without the heads coming off, in the ozzie outback.
yes, its getting worse in the uk, brown our prime minister wasn't elected by anybody, prestons of potto a yorkshire haulage company with 250 trucks has just gone banraup today, owing to the fuel prices. that is the fourth yorkshire haulage company in 6 weeks to go and over a 1000 trucks are off the road due to the fuel prices. are you happy mr brown
I worked for Wynns in the late 60`s and drove a Pacific { Dreadnought} a few times although not having an HGV, I was in fact a "mate", rising to Steersman rank with a driver called Freddie Clifford. One of the worst jobs mating on a Pacific was keeping the oil boxes filled up cos the rear wheels were chain driven !
love that sound of them engines, these are real monsters of the road.I remember seeing a big move in the very early 70s in Essex and seeing a book in the local library when i was a kid,now im 42 and been interested ever since.
I used to see Wynns trucks in Newport in the 70s. Are they still going?
